39:1تَنزِيلُTañzeelul(The) revelationٱلۡكِتَٰبِKitaabi(of) the Bookمِنَminal(is) fromٱللَّهِlaahilAllahٱلۡعَزِيزِʻAzeezilthe All-MightyٱلۡحَكِيمِḤakeem.the All-Wise١
39:2إِنَّآʹInnaaaIndeed Weأَنزَلۡنَآʹañzalnaaa[We] have revealedإِلَيۡكَʹilaykalto youٱلۡكِتَٰبَKitaabathe Bookبِٱلۡحَقِّbil-Ḥaq̣q̣iin truthفَٱعۡبُدِfaʻbudilso worshipٱللَّهَlaahaAllahمُخۡلِصٗاmukhliṣal(being) sincereلَّهُlahudto Himٱلدِّينَdeen.(in) the religion٢
39:3أَلَاʹAlaaUnquestionablyلِلَّهِlillaahidfor Allahٱلدِّينُdeenul(is) the religionٱلۡخَالِصُۚkhaaliṣ?the pureوَٱلَّذِينَWallaẓeenatAnd those whoٱتَّخَذُواْtakhaẓootakeمِنmiñbesides Himدُونِهِۦٓdooniheeebesides Himأَوۡلِيَآءَʹawliyaaaʹ.protectorsمَاMaa-Notنَعۡبُدُهُمۡnaʻbuduhumwe worship themإِلَّاʹillaaexceptلِيُقَرِّبُونَآliyuq̣arriboonaaathat they may bring us nearإِلَىʹilaltoٱللَّهِlaahiAllahزُلۡفَىٰٓzulfaa.(in) nearnessإِنَّʹInnalIndeedٱللَّهَlaahaAllahيَحۡكُمُyaḥkumuwill judgeبَيۡنَهُمۡbaynahumbetween themفِيfeeinمَاmaa-whatهُمۡhumtheyفِيهِfeehi[in it]يَخۡتَلِفُونَۗyakhtalifoon.differإِنَّʹInnalIndeedٱللَّهَlaahaAllahلَاlaa-(does) notيَهۡدِيyahdeeguideمَنۡman(one) whoهُوَhuwa[he]كَٰذِبٞkaaẓibuñ(is) a liarكَفَّارٞkaffaar.and a disbeliever٣
39:4لَّوۡLawIfأَرَادَʹaaraadalAllah (had) intendedٱللَّهُlaahuAllah (had) intendedأَنʹañytoيَتَّخِذَyattakhiẓatakeوَلَدٗاwaladala sonلَّٱصۡطَفَىٰlaṣṭafaasurely He (could) have chosenمِمَّاmimmaafrom whatيَخۡلُقُyakhluq̣uHe createsمَاmaa-whateverيَشَآءُۚyashaaaʹuHe willedسُبۡحَٰنَهُۥۖSubḥaanah!Glory be to HimهُوَHuwalHeٱللَّهُlaahul(is) AllahٱلۡوَٰحِدُWaaḥidulthe OneٱلۡقَهَّارُQ̣ahhaar.the Irresistible٤
39:5خَلَقَKhalaq̣asHe createdٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِsamaawaatithe heavensوَٱلۡأَرۡضَwal-ʹarḍaand the earthبِٱلۡحَقِّۖbilḥaq̣q̣:in [the] truthيُكَوِّرُyukawwirulHe wrapsٱلَّيۡلَlaylathe nightعَلَىʻalanoverٱلنَّهَارِnahaarithe dayوَيُكَوِّرُwa-yukawwirunand wrapsٱلنَّهَارَnahaarathe dayعَلَىʻalaloverٱلَّيۡلِۖlaylithe nightوَسَخَّرَwa-sakhkharashAnd He subjectedٱلشَّمۡسَshamsathe sunوَٱلۡقَمَرَۖwalq̣amar:and the moonكُلّٞkulluñyeachيَجۡرِيyajreerunningلِأَجَلٖliʹajalimfor a termمُّسَمًّىۗmusammaa.specifiedأَلَاʹAlaaUnquestionablyهُوَHuwalHeٱلۡعَزِيزُʻAzeezul(is) the All-MightyٱلۡغَفَّٰرُG̣affaar.the Oft-Forgiving٥
39:6خَلَقَكُمKhalaq̣akumHe created youمِّنminfromنَّفۡسٖnafsiñwa soulوَٰحِدَةٖwaaḥidatiñsingleثُمَّs̤ummaThenجَعَلَjaʻalaHe madeمِنۡهَاminhaafrom itزَوۡجَهَاzawjahaaits mateوَأَنزَلَwa-ʹañzalaAnd He sent downلَكُمlakumfor youمِّنَminalofٱلۡأَنۡعَٰمِʹanʻaamithe cattleثَمَٰنِيَةَs̤amaaniyataeightأَزۡوَٰجٖۚʹazwaaj:kindsيَخۡلُقُكُمۡyakhluq̣ukumHe creates youفِيfeeinبُطُونِbuṭooni(the) wombsأُمَّهَٰتِكُمۡʹummahaatikum(of) your mothersخَلۡقٗاkhalaq̣amcreationمِّنۢmimafterبَعۡدِbaʻdiafterخَلۡقٖkhalq̣iñcreationفِيfeeinظُلُمَٰتٖẓulumaatiñdarkness[es]ثَلَٰثٖۚs̤alaas̤.threeذَٰلِكُمُẒaalikumulThatٱللَّهُlaahu(is) AllahرَبُّكُمۡRabbukumyour Lordلَهُlahulfor Himٱلۡمُلۡكُۖmulk.(is) the dominionلَآLaaa(There is) noإِلَٰهَʹilaahagodإِلَّاʹillaaexceptهُوَۖHoo.HeفَأَنَّىٰFaʹannaaThen howتُصۡرَفُونَtuṣrafoon?are you turning away٦
39:7إِنʹIñIfتَكۡفُرُواْtakfurooyou disbelieveفَإِنَّfaʹinnalthen indeedٱللَّهَlaahaAllahغَنِيٌّG̣aniyyun(is) free from needعَنكُمۡۖʻañkum:of youوَلَاwa-laaAnd notيَرۡضَىٰyarḍaaHe likesلِعِبَادِهِliʻibaadihilin His slavesٱلۡكُفۡرَۖkufr:ungratefulnessوَإِنwa-ʹiñAnd ifتَشۡكُرُواْtashkurooyou are gratefulيَرۡضَهُyarḍahuHe likes itلَكُمۡۗlakum.in youوَلَاWa-laaAnd notتَزِرُtaziruwill bearوَازِرَةٞwaaziratuñwbearer of burdensوِزۡرَwizra(the) burdenأُخۡرَىٰۚʹukhraa.(of) anotherثُمَّS̤ummaThenإِلَىٰʹilaatoرَبِّكُمRabbikumyour LordمَّرۡجِعُكُمۡMarjiʻukum(is) your returnفَيُنَبِّئُكُمfayunabbiʹukum̃then He will inform youبِمَاbimaaabout whatكُنتُمۡkuñtumyou used toتَعۡمَلُونَۚtaʻmaloon.doإِنَّهُۥʹInnahooIndeed HeعَلِيمُۢʻAleemum(is) the All-Knowerبِذَاتِbiẓaatiṣof what (is) in the breastsٱلصُّدُورِṣudoor.of what (is) in the breasts٧
39:8۞وَإِذَاWa-ʹiẓaaAnd whenمَسَّmassaltouchesٱلۡإِنسَٰنَʹiñsaana[the] manضُرّٞḍurruñadversityدَعَاdaʻaahe callsرَبَّهُۥRabbahoohis Lordمُنِيبًاmuneebanturningإِلَيۡهِʹilayhito Himثُمَّs̤ummathenإِذَاʹiẓaawhenخَوَّلَهُۥkhawwalahooHe bestows on himنِعۡمَةٗniʻmatama favorمِّنۡهُminhufrom Himselfنَسِيَnasiyahe forgetsمَاmaa-(for) whatكَانَkaanahe used to callيَدۡعُوٓاْyadʻooohe used to callإِلَيۡهِʹilayhi[to] Himمِنmiñbeforeقَبۡلُq̣ablubeforeوَجَعَلَwa-jaʻalaand he sets upلِلَّهِlillaahito Allahأَندَادٗاʹañdaadalrivalsلِّيُضِلَّliyuḍillato misleadعَنʻañfromسَبِيلِهِۦۚSabeelih.His PathقُلۡQ̣ulSayتَمَتَّعۡtamattaʻEnjoyبِكُفۡرِكَbikufrikain your disbeliefقَلِيلًاq̣aleelan(for) a littleإِنَّكَʹinnakaIndeed youمِنۡmin(are) ofأَصۡحَٰبِʹAṣḥaabin(the) companionsٱلنَّارِNaar!(of) the Fire٨
39:9أَمَّنۡʹAmmanIs (one) whoهُوَhuwa[he]قَٰنِتٌq̣aanitun(is) devoutly obedient ءَانَآءَʹaanaaaʹal(during) hoursٱلَّيۡلِlayli(of) the nightسَاجِدٗاsaajidañwprostratingوَقَآئِمٗاwaq̣aaaʹimañyand standingيَحۡذَرُyaḥẓarulfearingٱلۡأٓخِرَةَʹAakhiratathe Hereafterوَيَرۡجُواْwa-yarjooand hopingرَحۡمَةَRaḥmata(for the) MercyرَبِّهِۦۗRabbih?(of) his LordقُلۡQ̣ulSayهَلۡhalAreيَسۡتَوِيyastawilequalٱلَّذِينَlaẓeenathose whoيَعۡلَمُونَyaʻlamoonaknowوَٱلَّذِينَwallaẓeenaand those whoلَاla(do) notيَعۡلَمُونَۗyaʻlamoon?knowإِنَّمَاʹInnamaaOnlyيَتَذَكَّرُyataẓakkaruwill take heedأُوْلُواْʹululthose of understandingٱلۡأَلۡبَٰبِʹalbaab.those of understanding٩
39:10قُلۡQ̣ulSayيَٰعِبَادِyaa-ʻibaadilO My slavesٱلَّذِينَlaẓeena[those] whoءَامَنُواْʹaamanutbelieveٱتَّقُواْtaq̣ooFearرَبَّكُمۡۚRabbakum.your LordلِلَّذِينَLillaẓeenaFor those whoأَحۡسَنُواْʹaḥsanoodo goodفِيfeeinهَٰذِهِhaaẓihidthisٱلدُّنۡيَاdunyaaworldحَسَنَةٞۗḥasanah.(is) goodوَأَرۡضُWa-ʹarḍuland the earthٱللَّهِlaahi(of) Allahوَٰسِعَةٌۗwaasiʻah!(is) spaciousإِنَّمَاʹInnamaaOnlyيُوَفَّىyuwaffaṣwill be paid back in fullٱلصَّٰبِرُونَṣaabiroonathe patient onesأَجۡرَهُمʹajrahum̃their rewardبِغَيۡرِbig̣ayriwithoutحِسَابٖḥisaab!account١٠
39:11قُلۡQ̣ulSayإِنِّيٓʹinneeeIndeed Iأُمِرۡتُʹumirtu[I] am commandedأَنۡʹanthatأَعۡبُدَʹaʻbudalI worshipٱللَّهَlaahaAllahمُخۡلِصٗاmukhliṣal(being) sincereلَّهُlahudto Himٱلدِّينَdeen;(in) the religion١١
39:12وَأُمِرۡتُWa-ʹumirtuAnd I am commandedلِأَنۡliʹanthatأَكُونَʹakoonaI beأَوَّلَʹawwalal(the) firstٱلۡمُسۡلِمِينَMuslimeen.(of) those who submit١٢
39:13قُلۡQ̣ulSayإِنِّيٓʹinneeeIndeed Iأَخَافُʹakhaafu[I] fearإِنۡʹinifعَصَيۡتُʻaṣaytuI disobeyرَبِّيRabbeemy Lordعَذَابَʻaẓaaba(the) punishmentيَوۡمٍYawmin(of) a Dayعَظِيمٖʻaz̤̣eem.great١٣
39:14قُلِQ̣ulilSayٱللَّهَlaahaI worship AllahأَعۡبُدُʹaʻbuduI worship Allahمُخۡلِصٗاmukhliṣal(being) sincereلَّهُۥlahooto Himدِينِيdeenee:(in) my religion١٤
39:15فَٱعۡبُدُواْFaʻbudooSo worshipمَاmaa-whatشِئۡتُمshiʹtumyou willمِّنmiñbesides Himدُونِهِۦۗdoonih.besides HimقُلۡQ̣ulSayإِنَّʹinnalIndeedٱلۡخَٰسِرِينَkhaasireenalthe losersٱلَّذِينَlaẓeena(are) those whoخَسِرُوٓاْkhasirooo(will) loseأَنفُسَهُمۡʹañfusahumthemselvesوَأَهۡلِيهِمۡwa-ʹahleehimand their familiesيَوۡمَYawmal(on the) DayٱلۡقِيَٰمَةِۗQ̣iyaamah:(of) the ResurrectionأَلَاʹalaaUnquestionablyذَٰلِكَẓaalikathat هُوَhuwalitٱلۡخُسۡرَانُkhusraanul(is) the lossٱلۡمُبِينُmubeen!the clear١٥
39:16لَهُمLahumFor themمِّنmiñfromفَوۡقِهِمۡfawq̣ihimabove themظُلَلٞz̤̣ulalumcoveringsمِّنَminañofٱلنَّارِNaarithe Fireوَمِنwa-miñand fromتَحۡتِهِمۡtaḥtihimbelow themظُلَلٞۚz̤̣ulal.coveringsذَٰلِكَẒaalika(With) thatيُخَوِّفُyukhawwifulthreatensٱللَّهُlaahuAllahبِهِۦbihee[with it]عِبَادَهُۥۚʻIbaadah:His slavesيَٰعِبَادِyaa-ʻIbaadiO My slavesفَٱتَّقُونِfattaq̣oon.So fear Me١٦
39:17وَٱلَّذِينَWallaẓeenajAnd those whoٱجۡتَنَبُواْtanabuṭavoidٱلطَّٰغُوتَṬaag̣ootathe false godsأَنʹañylestيَعۡبُدُوهَاyaʻbudoohaathey worship themوَأَنَابُوٓاْwa-ʹanaaboooand turnإِلَىʹilaltoٱللَّهِlaahiAllahلَهُمُlahumulfor themٱلۡبُشۡرَىٰۚBushraa:(are) glad tidingsفَبَشِّرۡfabashshirSo give glad tidingsعِبَادِʻIbaad,―(to) My slaves١٧
39:18ٱلَّذِينَʹAllaẓeenaThose whoيَسۡتَمِعُونَyastamiʻoonalthey listen (to)ٱلۡقَوۡلَQ̣awlathe Wordفَيَتَّبِعُونَfayattabiʻoonathen followأَحۡسَنَهُۥٓۚʹaḥsanah:the best thereofأُوْلَٰٓئِكَʹulaaaʹikalthoseٱلَّذِينَlaẓeena(are) they whomهَدَىٰهُمُhadaahumulAllah has guided themٱللَّهُۖlaahuAllah has guided themوَأُوْلَٰٓئِكَwa-ʹulaaaʹikaand thoseهُمۡhumare [they]أُوْلُواْʹululthe men of understandingٱلۡأَلۡبَٰبِʹalbaab.the men of understanding١٨
39:19أَفَمَنۡʹAfamanThen is (one) whoحَقَّḥaq̣q̣abecame dueعَلَيۡهِʻalayhion himكَلِمَةُkalimatulthe wordٱلۡعَذَابِʻAẓaab?(of) the punishmentأَفَأَنتَʹA-faʹañtaThen can youتُنقِذُtuñq̣iẓusaveمَنmañ(one) whoفِيfin(is) inٱلنَّارِNaar?the Fire١٩
39:20لَٰكِنِLaakinilButٱلَّذِينَlaẓeenatthose whoٱتَّقَوۡاْtaq̣awfearرَبَّهُمۡRabbahumtheir Lordلَهُمۡlahumfor themغُرَفٞg̣urafum(are) lofty mansionsمِّنmiñabove themفَوۡقِهَاfawq̣ihaaabove themغُرَفٞg̣urafumlofty mansionsمَّبۡنِيَّةٞmabniyyatuñbuilt highتَجۡرِيtajreeflowمِنmiñfromتَحۡتِهَاtaḥtihalbeneath itٱلۡأَنۡهَٰرُۖʹanhaar;the riversوَعۡدَWaʻdal(The) Promiseٱللَّهِlaah:(of) Allahلَاlaa-NotيُخۡلِفُyukhlifulAllah failsٱللَّهُlaahulAllah failsٱلۡمِيعَادَmeeʻaad.(in His) promise٢٠
39:21أَلَمۡʹAlamDo notتَرَtarayou seeأَنَّʹannalthatٱللَّهَlaahaAllahأَنزَلَʹañzalasends downمِنَminasfromٱلسَّمَآءِsamaaaʹithe skyمَآءٗmaaaʹañwaterفَسَلَكَهُۥfasalakahooand He makes it flowيَنَٰبِيعَyanaabeeʻa(as) springsفِيfilinٱلۡأَرۡضِʹarḍithe earthثُمَّs̤ummathenيُخۡرِجُyukhrijuHe producesبِهِۦbiheewith itزَرۡعٗاzarʻamcropsمُّخۡتَلِفًاmukhtalifan(of) differentأَلۡوَٰنُهُۥʹalwaanuhoocolorsثُمَّs̤ummathenيَهِيجُyaheejuthey witherفَتَرَىٰهُfataraahuand you see itمُصۡفَرّٗاmuṣfarrañturn yellowثُمَّs̤ummathenيَجۡعَلُهُۥyajʻaluhooHe makes themحُطَٰمًاۚḥuṭaamaa.debrisإِنَّʹInnaIndeedفِيfeeinذَٰلِكَẓaalikathatلَذِكۡرَىٰla-Ẓikraasurely (is) a reminderلِأُوْلِيliʹulilfor those of understandingٱلۡأَلۡبَٰبِʹalbaab.for those of understanding٢١
39:22أَفَمَنʹAfamañSo is (one for) whomشَرَحَsharaḥalAllah has expandedٱللَّهُlaahuAllah has expandedصَدۡرَهُۥṣadrahoohis breastلِلۡإِسۡلَٰمِlil-ʹIslaamifor Islamفَهُوَfahuwaso heعَلَىٰʻalaa(is) uponنُورٖNoorima lightمِّنmirfromرَّبِّهِۦۚRabbih?his LordفَوَيۡلٞFawaylulSo woeلِّلۡقَٰسِيَةِlilq̣aasiyatito (those are) hardenedقُلُوبُهُمq̣uloobuhumtheir heartsمِّنmiñfromذِكۡرِẓikril(the) remembrance of Allahٱللَّهِۚlaah!(the) remembrance of AllahأُوْلَٰٓئِكَʹulaaaʹikaThoseفِيfee(are) inضَلَٰلٖḍalaalimerrorمُّبِينٍmubeen!clear٢٢
39:23ٱللَّهُʹAllaahuAllahنَزَّلَnazzalahas revealedأَحۡسَنَʹaḥsanal(the) bestٱلۡحَدِيثِḤadees̤i(of) [the] statement كِتَٰبٗاKitaabama Bookمُّتَشَٰبِهٗاmutashaabiham(its parts) resembling each otherمَّثَانِيَmas̤aaniyaoft-repeatedتَقۡشَعِرُّtaq̣shaʻirruShiverمِنۡهُminhufrom itجُلُودُjuloodul(the) skinsٱلَّذِينَlaẓeena(of) those whoيَخۡشَوۡنَyakhshawnafearرَبَّهُمۡRabbahum;their Lordثُمَّs̤ummathenتَلِينُtaleenurelaxجُلُودُهُمۡjulooduhumtheir skinsوَقُلُوبُهُمۡwa-q̣uloobuhumand their heartsإِلَىٰʹilaaatذِكۡرِẒikril(the) remembranceٱللَّهِۚlaah.(of) AllahذَٰلِكَẒaalikaThatهُدَىhudal(is the) guidanceٱللَّهِlaahi(of) AllahيَهۡدِيyahdeeHe guidesبِهِۦbiheewith itمَنmañywhomيَشَآءُۚyashaaaʹ;He willsوَمَنwa-mañyAnd whoeverيُضۡلِلِyuḍlililAllah lets go astrayٱللَّهُlaahuAllah lets go astrayفَمَاfamaathen notلَهُۥlahoofor himمِنۡminanyهَادٍhaad.guide٢٣
39:24أَفَمَنʹAfamañyThen (is) he whoيَتَّقِيyattaq̣eewill shieldبِوَجۡهِهِۦbiwajhiheewith his faceسُوٓءَsoooʹal(the) worstٱلۡعَذَابِʻaẓaabipunishmentيَوۡمَYawmal(on the) DayٱلۡقِيَٰمَةِۚQ̣iyaamah?(of) the ResurrectionوَقِيلَWa-q̣eelaAnd it will be saidلِلظَّٰلِمِينَliz̤̣z̤̣aalimeenato the wrongdoersذُوقُواْẓooq̣ooTasteمَاmaa-whatكُنتُمۡkuñtumyou used toتَكۡسِبُونَtaksiboon!earn٢٤
39:25كَذَّبَKaẓẓabalDeniedٱلَّذِينَlaẓeenathose whoمِنmiñ(were) before themقَبۡلِهِمۡq̣ablihim(were) before themفَأَتَىٰهُمُfaʹataahumulso came upon themٱلۡعَذَابُʻAẓaabuthe punishmentمِنۡminfromحَيۡثُḥays̤uwhereلَاlaa-notيَشۡعُرُونَyashʻuroon.they perceive٢٥
