31:2تِلۡكَtil'kaTheseءَايَٰتُayatu(are) Versesٱلۡكِتَٰبِal-kitabi(of) the Bookٱلۡحَكِيمِal-hakimithe Wise٢
31:3هُدٗىhudanA guidanceوَرَحۡمَةٗwarahmatanand a mercyلِّلۡمُحۡسِنِينَlil'muh'sininafor the good-doers٣
31:4ٱلَّذِينَalladhinaThose whoيُقِيمُونَyuqimunaestablishٱلصَّلَوٰةَal-salatathe prayerوَيُؤۡتُونَwayu'tunaand giveٱلزَّكَوٰةَal-zakatazakahوَهُمwahumand theyبِٱلۡأٓخِرَةِbil-akhiratiin the Hereafterهُمۡhum[they]يُوقِنُونَyuqinunabelieve firmly٤
31:5أُوْلَٰٓئِكَulaikaThoseعَلَىٰala(are) onهُدٗىhudanguidanceمِّنminfromرَّبِّهِمۡۖrabbihimtheir Lordوَأُوْلَٰٓئِكَwa-ulaikaand thoseهُمُhumu[they]ٱلۡمُفۡلِحُونَal-muf'lihuna(are) the successful٥
31:6وَمِنَwaminaAnd ofٱلنَّاسِal-nasithe mankindمَنman(is he) whoيَشۡتَرِيyashtaripurchasesلَهۡوَlahwaidle talesٱلۡحَدِيثِal-hadithiidle talesلِيُضِلَّliyudillato misleadعَنanfromسَبِيلِsabili(the) pathٱللَّهِal-lahi(of) Allahبِغَيۡرِbighayriwithoutعِلۡمٖil'minknowledgeوَيَتَّخِذَهَاwayattakhidhahaand takes itهُزُوًاۚhuzuwan(in) ridiculeأُوْلَٰٓئِكَulaikaThoseلَهُمۡlahumfor themعَذَابٞadhabun(is) a punishmentمُّهِينٞmuhinunhumiliating٦
31:7وَإِذَاwa-idhaAnd whenتُتۡلَىٰtut'laare recitedعَلَيۡهِalayhito himءَايَٰتُنَاayatunaOur Versesوَلَّىٰwallahe turns awayمُسۡتَكۡبِرٗاmus'takbiranarrogantlyكَأَنka-anas ifلَّمۡlamnotيَسۡمَعۡهَاyasma'hahe (had) heard themكَأَنَّka-annaas ifفِيٓfiinأُذُنَيۡهِudhunayhihis earsوَقۡرٗاۖwaqran(is) deafnessفَبَشِّرۡهُfabashir'huSo give him tidingsبِعَذَابٍbi'adhabinof a punishmentأَلِيمٍaliminpainful٧
31:8إِنَّinnaIndeedٱلَّذِينَalladhinathose whoءَامَنُواْamanubelieveوَعَمِلُواْwa'amiluand doٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِal-salihatirighteous deedsلَهُمۡlahumfor themجَنَّٰتُjannatu(are) Gardensٱلنَّعِيمِal-na'imi(of) Delight٨
31:9خَٰلِدِينَkhalidina(To) abide foreverفِيهَاۖfihain itوَعۡدَwa'da(The) Promise of Allahٱللَّهِal-lahi(The) Promise of Allahحَقّٗاۚhaqqan(is) trueوَهُوَwahuwaAnd Heٱلۡعَزِيزُal-'azizu(is) the All-Mightyٱلۡحَكِيمُal-hakimuthe All-Wise٩
31:10خَلَقَkhalaqaHe createdٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِal-samawatithe heavensبِغَيۡرِbighayriwithoutعَمَدٖamadinpillarsتَرَوۡنَهَاۖtarawnahathat you seeوَأَلۡقَىٰwa-alqaand has castفِيfiinٱلۡأَرۡضِal-ardithe earthرَوَٰسِيَrawasiyafirm mountainsأَنanlestتَمِيدَtamidait (might) shakeبِكُمۡbikumwith youوَبَثَّwabathaand He dispersedفِيهَاfihain itمِنminfromكُلِّkullieveryدَآبَّةٖۚdabbatincreatureوَأَنزَلۡنَاwa-anzalnaAnd We sent downمِنَminafromٱلسَّمَآءِal-samaithe skyمَآءٗmaanwaterفَأَنۢبَتۡنَاfa-anbatnathen We caused to growفِيهَاfihathereinمِنminofكُلِّkullieveryزَوۡجٖzawjinkindكَرِيمٍkariminnoble١٠
31:11هَٰذَاhadhaThisخَلۡقُkhalqu(is the) creationٱللَّهِal-lahi(of) Allahفَأَرُونِيfa-aruniSo show Meمَاذَاmadhawhatخَلَقَkhalaqahave createdٱلَّذِينَalladhinathoseمِنminbesides Himدُونِهِۦۚdunihibesides HimبَلِbaliNayٱلظَّٰلِمُونَal-zalimunathe wrongdoersفِيfi(are) inضَلَٰلٖdalalinerrorمُّبِينٖmubininclear١١
31:12وَلَقَدۡwalaqadAnd verilyءَاتَيۡنَاataynaWe gaveلُقۡمَٰنَluq'manaLuqmanٱلۡحِكۡمَةَal-hik'matathe wisdomأَنِanithatٱشۡكُرۡush'kurBe gratefulلِلَّهِۚlillahito AllahوَمَنwamanAnd whoeverيَشۡكُرۡyashkur(is) gratefulفَإِنَّمَاfa-innamathen onlyيَشۡكُرُyashkuruhe is gratefulلِنَفۡسِهِۦۖlinafsihifor himselfوَمَنwamanAnd whoeverكَفَرَkafara(is) ungratefulفَإِنَّfa-innathen indeedٱللَّهَal-lahaAllahغَنِيٌّghaniyyun(is) Free of needحَمِيدٞhamidunPraiseworthy١٢
31:13وَإِذۡwa-idhAnd whenقَالَqalasaidلُقۡمَٰنُluq'manuLuqmanلِٱبۡنِهِۦli-ib'nihito his sonوَهُوَwahuwawhile heيَعِظُهُۥya'izuhu(was) instructing himيَٰبُنَيَّyabunayyaO my sonلَاla(Do) notتُشۡرِكۡtush'rikassociate partnersبِٱللَّهِۖbil-lahiwith AllahإِنَّinnaIndeedٱلشِّرۡكَal-shir'kaassociating partnersلَظُلۡمٌlazul'mun(is) surely an injusticeعَظِيمٞazimungreat١٣
31:14وَوَصَّيۡنَاwawassaynaAnd We have enjoinedٱلۡإِنسَٰنَal-insana(upon) manبِوَٰلِدَيۡهِbiwalidayhifor his parents حَمَلَتۡهُhamalathucarried himأُمُّهُۥummuhuhis motherوَهۡنًاwahnan(in) weaknessعَلَىٰalauponوَهۡنٖwahninweaknessوَفِصَٰلُهُۥwafisaluhuand his weaningفِيfi(is) inعَامَيۡنِamaynitwo yearsأَنِanithatٱشۡكُرۡush'kurBe gratefulلِيlito Meوَلِوَٰلِدَيۡكَwaliwalidaykaand to your parentsإِلَيَّilayyatowards Meٱلۡمَصِيرُal-masiru(is) the destination١٤
31:15وَإِنwa-inBut ifجَٰهَدَاكَjahadakathey strive against youعَلَىٰٓalaonأَنanthatتُشۡرِكَtush'rikayou associate partnersبِيbiwith Meمَاmawhatلَيۡسَlaysanotلَكَlakayou haveبِهِۦbihiof itعِلۡمٞil'munany knowledgeفَلَاfalathen (do) notتُطِعۡهُمَاۖtuti'humaobey both of themوَصَاحِبۡهُمَاwasahib'humaBut accompany themفِيfiinٱلدُّنۡيَاal-dun'yathe worldمَعۡرُوفٗاۖma'rufan(with) kindnessوَٱتَّبِعۡwa-ittabi'and followسَبِيلَsabila(the) pathمَنۡman(of him) whoأَنَابَanabaturnsإِلَيَّۚilayyato MeثُمَّthummaThenإِلَيَّilayyatowards Meمَرۡجِعُكُمۡmarji'ukum(is) your returnفَأُنَبِّئُكُمfa-unabbi-ukumthen I will inform youبِمَاbimaof whatكُنتُمۡkuntumyou used (to)تَعۡمَلُونَta'malunado١٥
31:16يَٰبُنَيَّyabunayyaO my sonإِنَّهَآinnahaIndeed itإِنinifتَكُtakuit beمِثۡقَالَmith'qala(the) weightحَبَّةٖhabbatin(of) a grainمِّنۡminofخَرۡدَلٖkhardalina mustard seedفَتَكُنfatakunand it beفِيfiinصَخۡرَةٍsakhratina rockأَوۡaworفِيfiinٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِal-samawatithe heavensأَوۡaworفِيfiinٱلۡأَرۡضِal-ardithe earthيَأۡتِyatiAllah will bring it forthبِهَاbihaAllah will bring it forthٱللَّهُۚal-lahuAllah will bring it forthإِنَّinnaIndeedٱللَّهَal-lahaAllahلَطِيفٌlatifun(is) All-SubtleخَبِيرٞkhabirunAll-Aware١٦
31:17يَٰبُنَيَّyabunayyaO my sonأَقِمِaqimiEstablishٱلصَّلَوٰةَal-salatathe prayerوَأۡمُرۡwamurand enjoinبِٱلۡمَعۡرُوفِbil-ma'rufi[with] the rightوَٱنۡهَwa-in'haand forbidعَنِanifromٱلۡمُنكَرِal-munkarithe wrongوَٱصۡبِرۡwa-is'birand be patientعَلَىٰalaoverمَآmawhatأَصَابَكَۖasabakabefalls youإِنَّinnaIndeedذَٰلِكَdhalikathatمِنۡmin(is) ofعَزۡمِazmithe matters requiring determinationٱلۡأُمُورِal-umurithe matters requiring determination١٧
31:18وَلَاwalaAnd (do) notتُصَعِّرۡtusa'irturnخَدَّكَkhaddakayour cheekلِلنَّاسِlilnnasifrom menوَلَاwalaand (do) notتَمۡشِtamshiwalkفِيfiinٱلۡأَرۡضِal-ardithe earthمَرَحًاۖmarahanexultantlyإِنَّinnaIndeedٱللَّهَal-lahaAllahلَاla(does) notيُحِبُّyuhibbulikeكُلَّkullaeveryمُخۡتَالٖmukh'talinself-conceitedفَخُورٖfakhurinboaster١٨
31:19وَٱقۡصِدۡwa-iq'sidAnd be moderateفِيfiinمَشۡيِكَmashyikayour paceوَٱغۡضُضۡwa-ugh'dudand lowerمِنmin[of]صَوۡتِكَۚsawtikayour voiceإِنَّinnaIndeedأَنكَرَankara(the) harshestٱلۡأَصۡوَٰتِal-aswati(of all) soundsلَصَوۡتُlasawtu(is) surely (the) voiceٱلۡحَمِيرِal-hamiri(of) the donkeys١٩
31:20أَلَمۡalamDo notتَرَوۡاْtarawyou seeأَنَّannathatٱللَّهَal-lahaAllahسَخَّرَsakharahas subjectedلَكُمlakumto youمَّاmawhateverفِيfi(is) inٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِal-samawatithe heavensوَمَاwamaand whateverفِيfi(is) inٱلۡأَرۡضِal-ardithe earthوَأَسۡبَغَwa-asbaghaand amply bestowedعَلَيۡكُمۡalaykumupon youنِعَمَهُۥni'amahuHis Bountiesظَٰهِرَةٗzahiratanapparentوَبَاطِنَةٗۗwabatinatanand hiddenوَمِنَwaminaBut ofٱلنَّاسِal-nasithe peopleمَنman(is he) whoيُجَٰدِلُyujadiludisputesفِيfiaboutٱللَّهِal-lahiAllahبِغَيۡرِbighayriwithoutعِلۡمٖil'minknowledgeوَلَاwalaand notهُدٗىhudanguidanceوَلَاwalaand notكِتَٰبٖkitabina bookمُّنِيرٖmunirinenlightening٢٠
31:21وَإِذَاwa-idhaAnd whenقِيلَqilait is saidلَهُمُlahumuto themٱتَّبِعُواْittabi'uFollowمَآmawhatأَنزَلَanzalaAllah (has) revealedٱللَّهُal-lahuAllah (has) revealedقَالُواْqaluthey sayبَلۡbalNayنَتَّبِعُnattabi'uwe will followمَاmawhatوَجَدۡنَاwajadnawe foundعَلَيۡهِalayhion itءَابَآءَنَآۚabaanaour forefathersأَوَلَوۡawalawEven ifكَانَkanaShaitaan wasٱلشَّيۡطَٰنُal-shaytanuShaitaan wasيَدۡعُوهُمۡyad'uhum(to) call themإِلَىٰilatoعَذَابِadhabi(the) punishmentٱلسَّعِيرِal-sa'iri(of) the Blaze٢١
31:22۞وَمَنwamanAnd whoeverيُسۡلِمۡyus'limsubmitsوَجۡهَهُۥٓwajhahuhis faceإِلَىilatoٱللَّهِal-lahiAllahوَهُوَwahuwawhile heمُحۡسِنٞmuh'sinun(is) a good-doerفَقَدِfaqadithen indeedٱسۡتَمۡسَكَis'tamsakahe has graspedبِٱلۡعُرۡوَةِbil-'ur'watithe handholdٱلۡوُثۡقَىٰۗal-wuth'qathe most trustworthyوَإِلَىwa-ilaAnd toٱللَّهِal-lahiAllahعَٰقِبَةُaqibatu(is the) endٱلۡأُمُورِal-umuri(of) the matters٢٢
31:23وَمَنwamanAnd whoeverكَفَرَkafaradisbelievesفَلَاfalalet notيَحۡزُنكَyahzunkagrieve youكُفۡرُهُۥٓۚkuf'ruhuhis disbeliefإِلَيۡنَاilaynaTo Usمَرۡجِعُهُمۡmarji'uhum(is) their returnفَنُنَبِّئُهُمfanunabbi-uhumthen We will inform themبِمَاbimaof whatعَمِلُوٓاْۚamiluthey didإِنَّinnaIndeedٱللَّهَal-lahaAllahعَلِيمُۢalimun(is) the All-Knowerبِذَاتِbidhatiof whatٱلصُّدُورِal-suduri(is in) the breasts٢٣
31:24نُمَتِّعُهُمۡnumatti'uhumWe grant them enjoymentقَلِيلٗاqalilan(for) a littleثُمَّthummathenنَضۡطَرُّهُمۡnadtarruhumWe will force themإِلَىٰilatoعَذَابٍadhabina punishmentغَلِيظٖghalizinsevere٢٤
31:25وَلَئِنwala-inAnd ifسَأَلۡتَهُمsa-altahumyou ask themمَّنۡmanWhoخَلَقَkhalaqacreatedٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِal-samawatithe heavensوَٱلۡأَرۡضَwal-ardaand the earthلَيَقُولُنَّlayaqulunnaThey will surely sayٱللَّهُۚal-lahuAllahقُلِquliSayٱلۡحَمۡدُal-hamduAll praisesلِلَّهِۚlillahi(are) for AllahبَلۡbalButأَكۡثَرُهُمۡaktharuhummost of themلَاla(do) notيَعۡلَمُونَya'lamunaknow٢٥
31:26لِلَّهِlillahiTo Allah (belongs)مَاmawhateverفِيfi(is) inٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِal-samawatithe heavensوَٱلۡأَرۡضِۚwal-ardiand the earthإِنَّinnaIndeedٱللَّهَal-lahaAllahهُوَhuwaHeٱلۡغَنِيُّal-ghaniyu(is) Free of needٱلۡحَمِيدُal-hamiduthe Praiseworthy٢٦
31:27وَلَوۡwalawAnd ifأَنَّمَاannamawhateverفِيfi(is) inٱلۡأَرۡضِal-ardithe earthمِنminofشَجَرَةٍshajaratin(the) treesأَقۡلَٰمٞaqlamun(were) pensوَٱلۡبَحۡرُwal-bahruand the seaيَمُدُّهُۥyamudduhu(to) add to itمِنۢminafter itبَعۡدِهِۦba'dihiafter itسَبۡعَةُsab'atusevenأَبۡحُرٖabhurinseasمَّاmanotنَفِدَتۡnafidatwould be exhaustedكَلِمَٰتُkalimatu(the) Wordsٱللَّهِۚal-lahi(of) AllahإِنَّinnaIndeedٱللَّهَal-lahaAllahعَزِيزٌazizun(is) All-MightyحَكِيمٞhakimunAll-Wise٢٧
31:28مَّاmaNotخَلۡقُكُمۡkhalqukum(is) your creationوَلَاwalaand notبَعۡثُكُمۡba'thukumyour resurrectionإِلَّاillabutكَنَفۡسٖkanafsinas a soulوَٰحِدَةٍۚwahidatinsingleإِنَّinnaIndeedٱللَّهَal-lahaAllahسَمِيعُۢsami'un(is) All-HearerبَصِيرٌbasirunAll-Seer٢٨
31:29أَلَمۡalamDo notتَرَtarayou seeأَنَّannathatٱللَّهَal-lahaAllahيُولِجُyulijucauses to enterٱلَّيۡلَal-laylathe nightفِيfiintoٱلنَّهَارِal-naharithe dayوَيُولِجُwayulijuand causes to enterٱلنَّهَارَal-naharathe dayفِيfiintoٱلَّيۡلِal-laylithe nightوَسَخَّرَwasakharaand has subjectedٱلشَّمۡسَal-shamsathe sunوَٱلۡقَمَرَۖwal-qamaraand the moonكُلّٞkulluneachيَجۡرِيٓyajrimovingإِلَىٰٓilaforأَجَلٖajalina termمُّسَمّٗىmusammanappointedوَأَنَّwa-annaand thatٱللَّهَal-lahaAllahبِمَاbimaof whatتَعۡمَلُونَta'malunayou doخَبِيرٞkhabirun(is) All-Aware٢٩
31:30ذَٰلِكَdhalikaThatبِأَنَّbi-anna(is) becauseٱللَّهَal-lahaAllahهُوَhuwaHeٱلۡحَقُّal-haqu(is) the Truthوَأَنَّwa-annaand thatمَاmawhatيَدۡعُونَyad'unathey callمِنminbesides Himدُونِهِdunihibesides Himٱلۡبَٰطِلُal-batilu(is) [the] falsehoodوَأَنَّwa-annaand thatٱللَّهَal-lahaAllahهُوَhuwaHeٱلۡعَلِيُّal-'aliyu(is) the Most Highٱلۡكَبِيرُal-kabiruthe Most Great٣٠
31:31أَلَمۡalamDo notتَرَtarayou seeأَنَّannathatٱلۡفُلۡكَal-ful'kathe shipsتَجۡرِيtajrisailفِيfithroughٱلۡبَحۡرِal-bahrithe seaبِنِعۡمَتِbini'matiby (the) Graceٱللَّهِal-lahi(of) Allahلِيُرِيَكُمliyuriyakumthat He may show youمِّنۡminofءَايَٰتِهِۦٓۚayatihiHis SignsإِنَّinnaIndeedفِيfiinذَٰلِكَdhalikathatلَأٓيَٰتٖlaayatinsurely (are) Signsلِّكُلِّlikullifor everyoneصَبَّارٖsabbarin(who is) patientشَكُورٖshakuringrateful٣١
31:32وَإِذَاwa-idhaAnd whenغَشِيَهُمghashiyahumcovers themمَّوۡجٞmawjuna waveكَٱلظُّلَلِkal-zulalilike canopiesدَعَوُاْda'awuthey callٱللَّهَal-lahaAllahمُخۡلِصِينَmukh'lisina(being) sincereلَهُlahuto Himٱلدِّينَal-dina(in) religionفَلَمَّاfalammaBut whenنَجَّىٰهُمۡnajjahumHe delivers themإِلَىilatoٱلۡبَرِّal-barithe landفَمِنۡهُمfamin'humthen among themمُّقۡتَصِدٞۚmuq'tasidun(some are) moderateوَمَاwamaAnd notيَجۡحَدُyajhadudenyبِـَٔايَٰتِنَآbiayatinaOur Signsإِلَّاillaexceptكُلُّkullueveryخَتَّارٖkhattarintraitorكَفُورٖkafurinungrateful٣٢
31:33يَٰٓأَيُّهَاyaayyuhaOٱلنَّاسُal-nasumankindٱتَّقُواْittaquFearرَبَّكُمۡrabbakumyour Lordوَٱخۡشَوۡاْwa-ikh'shawand fearيَوۡمٗاyawmana Dayلَّاlanotيَجۡزِيyajzican availوَالِدٌwaliduna fatherعَنan[for]وَلَدِهِۦwaladihihis sonوَلَاwalaand notمَوۡلُودٌmawluduna sonهُوَhuwaheجَازٍjazin(can) availعَنan[for]وَالِدِهِۦwalidihihis fatherشَيۡـًٔاۚshayananythingإِنَّinnaIndeedوَعۡدَwa'da(the) Promiseٱللَّهِal-lahi(of) Allahحَقّٞۖhaqqun(is) Trueفَلَاfalaso let not deceive youتَغُرَّنَّكُمُtaghurrannakumuso let not deceive youٱلۡحَيَوٰةُal-hayatuthe lifeٱلدُّنۡيَاal-dun'ya(of) the worldوَلَاwalaand let not deceive youيَغُرَّنَّكُمyaghurrannakumand let not deceive youبِٱللَّهِbil-lahiabout Allahٱلۡغَرُورُal-gharuruthe deceiver٣٣
31:34إِنَّinnaIndeedٱللَّهَal-lahaAllahعِندَهُۥindahuwith Himعِلۡمُil'mu(is the) knowledgeٱلسَّاعَةِal-sa'ati(of) the Hourوَيُنَزِّلُwayunazziluand He sends downٱلۡغَيۡثَal-ghaythathe rainوَيَعۡلَمُwaya'lamuand knowsمَاmawhatفِيfi(is) inٱلۡأَرۡحَامِۖal-arhamithe wombsوَمَاwamaAnd notتَدۡرِيtadriknowsنَفۡسٞnafsunany soulمَّاذَاmadhawhatتَكۡسِبُtaksibuit will earnغَدٗاۖghadantomorrowوَمَاwamaand notتَدۡرِيtadriknowsنَفۡسُۢnafsunany soulبِأَيِّbi-ayyiin whatأَرۡضٖardinlandتَمُوتُۚtamutuit will dieإِنَّinnaIndeedٱللَّهَal-lahaAllahعَلِيمٌalimun(is) All-KnowerخَبِيرُۢkhabirunAll-Aware٣٤
