24:1
سُورَةٌ
Sooratun
A Surah
أَنزَلۡنَٰهَا
ʹañzalnaahaa
We (have) sent it down
وَفَرَضۡنَٰهَا
wa-faraḍnaahaa
and We (have) made it obligatory
وَأَنزَلۡنَا
wa-ʹañzalnaa
and We (have) revealed
فِيهَآ
feehaaa
therein
ءَايَٰتِۭ
ʹAayaatim
Verses
بَيِّنَٰتٖ
Bayyinaatil
clear
لَّعَلَّكُمۡ
laʻallakum
so that you may
تَذَكَّرُونَ
taẓakkaroon.
take heed
١
24:2
ٱلزَّانِيَةُ
ʹAzzaaniyatu
The fornicatress
وَٱلزَّانِي
wazzaanee
and the fornicator
فَٱجۡلِدُواْ
fajlidoo
[then] flog
كُلَّ
kulla
each
وَٰحِدٖ
waaḥidim
one
مِّنۡهُمَا
minhumaa
of them
مِاْئَةَ
miʹata
(with) hundred
جَلۡدَةٖۖ
jaldah;
lash(es)
وَلَا
wa-laa
And (let) not
تَأۡخُذۡكُم
taʹkhuẓkum̃
withhold you
بِهِمَا
bihimaa
pity for them
رَأۡفَةٞ
raʹfatuñ
pity for them
فِي
fee
concerning
دِينِ
Deenil
(the) religion of Allah
ٱللَّهِ
laahi
(the) religion of Allah
إِن
ʹiñ
if
كُنتُمۡ
kuñtum
you
تُؤۡمِنُونَ
tuʹminoona
believe
بِٱللَّهِ
billaahi
in Allah
وَٱلۡيَوۡمِ
wal-Yawmil
and the Day
ٱلۡأٓخِرِۖ
ʹAakhir:
the Last
وَلۡيَشۡهَدۡ
wal-yashhad
And let witness
عَذَابَهُمَا
ʻaẓaabahumaa
their punishment
طَآئِفَةٞ
ṭaaaʹifatum
a group
مِّنَ
minal
of
ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ
Muʹmineen.
the believers
٢
24:3
ٱلزَّانِي
ʹAzzaanee
The fornicator
لَا
laa-
(will) not
يَنكِحُ
yañkiḥu
marry
إِلَّا
ʹillaa
except
زَانِيَةً
zaaniyatan
a fornicatress
أَوۡ
ʹaw
or
مُشۡرِكَةٗ
mushrikah:
a polytheist woman
وَٱلزَّانِيَةُ
wazzaaniyatu
and the fornicatress
لَا
laa-
(will) not
يَنكِحُهَآ
yañkiḥuhaaa
marry her
إِلَّا
ʹillaa
except
زَانٍ
zaanin
a fornicator
أَوۡ
ʹaw
or
مُشۡرِكٞۚ
mushrik:
a polytheist man
وَحُرِّمَ
waḥurrima
And is forbidden
ذَٰلِكَ
ẓaalika
that
عَلَى
ʻalal
to
ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ
Muʹmineen.
the believers
٣
24:4
وَٱلَّذِينَ
Wallaẓeena
And those who
يَرۡمُونَ
yarmoonal
accuse
ٱلۡمُحۡصَنَٰتِ
muḥṣanaati
the chaste women
ثُمَّ
s̤umma
then
لَمۡ
lam
not
يَأۡتُواْ
yaʹtoo
they bring
بِأَرۡبَعَةِ
biʹarbaʻati
four
شُهَدَآءَ
shuhadaaaʹa
witnesses
فَٱجۡلِدُوهُمۡ
fajlidoohum
then flog them
ثَمَٰنِينَ
s̤amaaneena
(with) eighty
جَلۡدَةٗ
jaldatañw
lashe(s)
وَلَا
walaa
and (do) not
تَقۡبَلُواْ
taq̣baloo
accept
لَهُمۡ
lahum
their
شَهَٰدَةً
shahaadatan
testimony
أَبَدٗاۚ
ʹabadaa:
ever
وَأُوْلَٰٓئِكَ
wa-ʹulaaaʹika
And those
هُمُ
humul
they
ٱلۡفَٰسِقُونَ
faasiq̣oon;
(are) the defiantly disobedient
٤
24:5
إِلَّا
ʹIllal
Except
ٱلَّذِينَ
laẓeena
those who
تَابُواْ
taaboo
repent
مِنۢ
mim
after
بَعۡدِ
baʻdi
after
ذَٰلِكَ
ẓaalika
that
وَأَصۡلَحُواْ
wa-ʹaṣlaḥoo;
and reform
فَإِنَّ
faʹinnal
Then indeed
ٱللَّهَ
laaha
Allah
غَفُورٞ
G̣afoorur
(is) Oft-Forgiving
رَّحِيمٞ
Raḥeem.
Most Merciful
٥
24:6
وَٱلَّذِينَ
Wallaẓeena
And those who
يَرۡمُونَ
yarmoona
accuse
أَزۡوَٰجَهُمۡ
ʹazwaajahum
their spouses
وَلَمۡ
wa-lam
and not
يَكُن
yakul
have
لَّهُمۡ
lahum
for them
شُهَدَآءُ
shuhadaaaʹu
witnesses
إِلَّآ
ʹillaaa
except
أَنفُسُهُمۡ
ʹañfusuhum
themselves
فَشَهَٰدَةُ
fashahaadatu
then (the) testimony
أَحَدِهِمۡ
ʹaḥadihim
(of) one of them
أَرۡبَعُ
ʹarbaʻu
(is) four
شَهَٰدَٰتِۭ
shahaadaatim
testimonies
بِٱللَّهِ
billaahi
by Allah
إِنَّهُۥ
ʹinnahoo
that he
لَمِنَ
laminaṣ
(is) surely of
ٱلصَّٰدِقِينَ
ṣaadiq̣een;
the truthful
٦
24:7
وَٱلۡخَٰمِسَةُ
Wal-khaamisatu
And the fifth
أَنَّ
ʹanna
that
لَعۡنَتَ
laʻnatal
(the) curse of Allah
ٱللَّهِ
laahi
(the) curse of Allah
عَلَيۡهِ
ʻalayhi
(be) upon him
إِن
ʹiñ
if
كَانَ
kaana
he is
مِنَ
minal
of
ٱلۡكَٰذِبِينَ
kaaẓibeen.
the liars
٧
24:8
وَيَدۡرَؤُاْ
Wa-yadraʹu
But it would prevent
عَنۡهَا
ʻanhal
from her
ٱلۡعَذَابَ
ʻaẓaaba
the punishment
أَن
ʹañ
that
تَشۡهَدَ
tashhada
she bears witness
أَرۡبَعَ
ʹarbaʻa
four
شَهَٰدَٰتِۭ
shahaadaatim
testimonies
بِٱللَّهِ
billaahi
by Allah
إِنَّهُۥ
ʹinnahoo
that he
لَمِنَ
laminal
(is) surely of
ٱلۡكَٰذِبِينَ
kaaẓibeen;
the liars
٨
24:9
وَٱلۡخَٰمِسَةَ
Wal-khaamisata
And the fifth
أَنَّ
ʹanna
that
غَضَبَ
g̣aḍabal
the wrath of Allah
ٱللَّهِ
laahi
the wrath of Allah
عَلَيۡهَآ
ʻalayhaaa
(be) upon her
إِن
ʹiñ
if
كَانَ
kaana
he is
مِنَ
minaṣ
of
ٱلصَّٰدِقِينَ
ṣaadiq̣een.
the truthful
٩
24:10
وَلَوۡلَا
Wa-lawlaa
And if not
فَضۡلُ
faḍlul
(for) the Grace of Allah
ٱللَّهِ
laahi
(for) the Grace of Allah
عَلَيۡكُمۡ
ʻalaykum
upon you
وَرَحۡمَتُهُۥ
wa-raḥmatuhoo
and His Mercy
وَأَنَّ
wa-ʹannal
and that
ٱللَّهَ
laaha
Allah
تَوَّابٌ
Tawwaabun
(is) Oft-Returning (to Mercy)
حَكِيمٌ
Hakeem.

إِنَّ
ʹInnal
Indeed
ٱلَّذِينَ
laẓeena
those who
جَآءُو
jaaaʹoo
brought
بِٱلۡإِفۡكِ
bilʹifki
the lie
عُصۡبَةٞ
ʻuṣbatum
(are) a group
مِّنكُمۡۚ
miñkum:
among you
لَا
laa-
(Do) not
تَحۡسَبُوهُ
taḥsaboohu
think it
شَرّٗا
sharral
bad
لَّكُمۖ
lakum:
for you
بَلۡ
bal
nay
هُوَ
huwa
it
خَيۡرٞ
khayrul
(is) good
لَّكُمۡۚ
lakum:
for you
لِكُلِّ
likullim
For every
ٱمۡرِيٕٖ
riʹim
person
مِّنۡهُم
minhum
among them
مَّا
mak
(is) what
ٱكۡتَسَبَ
tasaba
he earned
مِنَ
minal
of
ٱلۡإِثۡمِۚ
ʹis̤m,
the sin
وَٱلَّذِي
wallaẓee
and the one who
تَوَلَّىٰ
tawallaa
took upon himself a greater share of it
كِبۡرَهُۥ
kibrahoo
took upon himself a greater share of it
مِنۡهُمۡ
minhum
among them
لَهُۥ
lahoo
for him
عَذَابٌ
ʻAẓaabun
(is) a punishment
عَظِيمٞ
ʻaz̤̣eem.
great
١١
24:12
لَّوۡلَآ
Law-laaa
Why not
إِذۡ
ʹiẓ
when
سَمِعۡتُمُوهُ
samiʻtumoohu
you heard it
ظَنَّ
z̤̣annal
think
ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنُونَ
Muʹminoona
the believing men
وَٱلۡمُؤۡمِنَٰتُ
wal-Muʹminaatu
and the believing women
بِأَنفُسِهِمۡ
biʹañfusihim
good of themselves
خَيۡرٗا
khayrañw
good of themselves
وَقَالُواْ
waq̣aaloo
and say
هَٰذَآ
haaẓaaa
This
إِفۡكٞ
ʹifkum
(is) a lie
مُّبِينٞ
mubeen?
clear
١٢
24:13
لَّوۡلَا
Law-laa
Why (did) not
جَآءُو
jaaaʹoo
they bring
عَلَيۡهِ
ʻalayhi
for it
بِأَرۡبَعَةِ
biʹarbaʻati
four
شُهَدَآءَۚ
shuhadaaaʹ?
witnesses
فَإِذۡ
Faʹiẓ
Then when
لَمۡ
lam
not
يَأۡتُواْ
yaʹtoo
they brought
بِٱلشُّهَدَآءِ
bishshuhadaaaʹi
the witnesses
فَأُوْلَٰٓئِكَ
faʹulaaaʹika
then those
عِندَ
ʻiñdal
near Allah
ٱللَّهِ
laahi
near Allah
هُمُ
humul
they
ٱلۡكَٰذِبُونَ
kaaẓiboon!
(are) the liars
١٣
24:14
وَلَوۡلَا
Wa-lawlaa
And if not
فَضۡلُ
faḍlul
(for the) Grace
ٱللَّهِ
laahi
(of) Allah
عَلَيۡكُمۡ
ʻalaykum
upon you
وَرَحۡمَتُهُۥ
wa-raḥmatuhoo
and His Mercy
فِي
fiddunyaa
in
ٱلدُّنۡيَا
wal
the world
وَٱلۡأٓخِرَةِ
ʹAakhirati
and the Hereafter
لَمَسَّكُمۡ
lamassakum
surely would have touched you
فِي
fee
in
مَآ
maaa
what
أَفَضۡتُمۡ
ʹafaḍtum
you had rushed glibly
فِيهِ
feehi
concerning it
عَذَابٌ
ʻaẓaabun
a punishment
عَظِيمٌ
ʹaz̤̣eem.
great
١٤
24:15
إِذۡ
ʹIẓ
When
تَلَقَّوۡنَهُۥ
talaq̣q̣awnahoo
you received it
بِأَلۡسِنَتِكُمۡ
biʹalsinatikum
with your tongues
وَتَقُولُونَ
wa-taq̣ooloona
and you said
بِأَفۡوَاهِكُم
biʹafwaahikum
with your mouths
مَّا
maa
what
لَيۡسَ
laysa
not
لَكُم
lakum̃
for you
بِهِۦ
bihee
of it
عِلۡمٞ
ʻilmuñw
any knowledge
وَتَحۡسَبُونَهُۥ
Wataḥsaboonahoo
and you thought it
هَيِّنٗا
hayyinañw
(was) insignificant
وَهُوَ
wahuwa
while it
عِندَ
ʻiñdal
(was) near Allah
ٱللَّهِ
laahi
(was) near Allah
عَظِيمٞ
ʻaz̤̣eem.
great
١٥
24:16
وَلَوۡلَآ
Wa-lawlaaa
And why not
إِذۡ
ʹiẓ
when
سَمِعۡتُمُوهُ
samiʻtumoohu
you heard it
قُلۡتُم
q̣ultum
you said
مَّا
maa
Not
يَكُونُ
yakoonu
it is
لَنَآ
lanaaa
for us
أَن
ʹan
that
نَّتَكَلَّمَ
natakallama
we speak
بِهَٰذَا
bihaaẓaa:
of this
سُبۡحَٰنَكَ
Subḥaanaka
Glory be to You
هَٰذَا
haaẓaa
This
بُهۡتَٰنٌ
buhtaanun
(is) a slander
عَظِيمٞ
ʻaz̤̣eem!
great
١٦
24:17
يَعِظُكُمُ
Yaʻiz̤̣ukumul
Allah warns you
ٱللَّهُ
laahu
Allah warns you
أَن
ʹañ
that
تَعُودُواْ
taʻoodoo
you return
لِمِثۡلِهِۦٓ
limis̤liheee
(to the) like of it
أَبَدًا
ʹabadan
ever
إِن
ʹiñ
if
كُنتُم
kuñtum
you are
مُّؤۡمِنِينَ
Muʹmineen.
believers
١٧
24:18
وَيُبَيِّنُ
Wa-yubayyinul
And Allah makes clear
ٱللَّهُ
laahu
And Allah makes clear
لَكُمُ
lakumul
to you
ٱلۡأٓيَٰتِۚ
ʹAayaat:
the Verses
وَٱللَّهُ
wallaahu
And Allah
عَلِيمٌ
ʻAleemun
(is) All-Knower
حَكِيمٌ
Ḥakeem.
All-Wise
١٨
24:19
إِنَّ
ʹInnal
Indeed
ٱلَّذِينَ
laẓeena
those who
يُحِبُّونَ
yuḥibboona
like
أَن
ʹañ
that
تَشِيعَ
tasheeʻal
(should) spread
ٱلۡفَٰحِشَةُ
faaḥishatu
the immorality
فِي
fil
among
ٱلَّذِينَ
laẓeena
those who
ءَامَنُواْ
ʹaamanoo
believe
لَهُمۡ
lahum
for them
عَذَابٌ
ʻaẓaabun
(is) a punishment
أَلِيمٞ
ʹaleemuñ
painful
فِي
fid
in
ٱلدُّنۡيَا
dunyaa
the world
وَٱلۡأٓخِرَةِۚ
wal-ʹAakhirah:
and the Hereafter
وَٱللَّهُ
wallaahu
And Allah
يَعۡلَمُ
yaʻlamu
knows
وَأَنتُمۡ
waʹañtum
while you
لَا
laa-
(do) not
تَعۡلَمُونَ
taʻlamoon.
know
١٩
24:20
وَلَوۡلَا
Wa-lawlaa
And if not
فَضۡلُ
faḍlul
(for the) Grace of Allah
ٱللَّهِ
laahi
(for the) Grace of Allah
عَلَيۡكُمۡ
ʻalaykum
upon you
وَرَحۡمَتُهُۥ
wa-raḥmatuhoo
and His Mercy
وَأَنَّ
wa-ʹannal
And that
ٱللَّهَ
laaha
Allah
رَءُوفٞ
Raʹoofur
(is) Full of Kindness
رَّحِيمٞ
Raḥeem.

24:21
۞يَٰٓأَيُّهَا
Yaaaʹayyuhal
O you who believe
ٱلَّذِينَ
laẓeena
O you who believe
ءَامَنُواْ
ʹaamanoo
O you who believe
لَا
laa-
(Do) not
تَتَّبِعُواْ
tattabiʻoo
follow
خُطُوَٰتِ
khuṭuwaatish
(the) footsteps
ٱلشَّيۡطَٰنِۚ
Shayṭaan:
(of) the Shaitaan
وَمَن
wa-mañy
and whoever
يَتَّبِعۡ
yattabiʻ
follows
خُطُوَٰتِ
khuṭuwaatish
(the) footsteps
ٱلشَّيۡطَٰنِ
Shayṭaani
(of) the Shaitaan
فَإِنَّهُۥ
faʹinnahoo
then indeed he
يَأۡمُرُ
yaʹmuru
commands
بِٱلۡفَحۡشَآءِ
bilfaḥshaaaʹi
the immorality
وَٱلۡمُنكَرِۚ
walmuñkar:
and the evil
وَلَوۡلَا
wa-lawlaa
And if not
فَضۡلُ
faḍlul
(for the) Grace of Allah
ٱللَّهِ
laahi
(for the) Grace of Allah
عَلَيۡكُمۡ
ʻalaykum
upon you
وَرَحۡمَتُهُۥ
Waraḥmatuhoo
and His Mercy
مَا
maa-
not
زَكَىٰ
zakaa
(would) have been pure
مِنكُم
miñkum
among you
مِّنۡ
min
anyone
أَحَدٍ
ʹaḥadin
anyone
أَبَدٗا
ʹabadañw
ever
وَلَٰكِنَّ
wa-laakinnal
but
ٱللَّهَ
laaha
Allah
يُزَكِّي
yuzakkee
purifies
مَن
mañy
whom
يَشَآءُۗ
yashaaaʹ:
He wills
وَٱللَّهُ
wallaahu
And Allah
سَمِيعٌ
Sameeʻun
(is) All-Hearer
عَلِيمٞ
ʻAleem.
All-Knower
٢١
24:22
وَلَا
Wa-laa
And not
يَأۡتَلِ
yaʹtali
let swear
أُوْلُواْ
ʹulul
those of virtue
ٱلۡفَضۡلِ
faḍli
those of virtue
مِنكُمۡ
miñkum
among you
وَٱلسَّعَةِ
wassaʻati
and the amplitude of means
أَن
ʹañy
that
يُؤۡتُوٓاْ
yuʹtooo
they give
أُوْلِي
ʹulil
(to) the near of kin
ٱلۡقُرۡبَىٰ
q̣urbaa
(to) the near of kin
وَٱلۡمَسَٰكِينَ
walmasaakeena
and the needy
وَٱلۡمُهَٰجِرِينَ
wal-Muhaajireena
and the emigrants
فِي
fee
in
سَبِيلِ
Sabeelil
(the) way
ٱللَّهِۖ
laah:
(of) Allah
وَلۡيَعۡفُواْ
walyaʻfoo
And let them pardon
وَلۡيَصۡفَحُوٓاْۗ
walyaṣfaḥoo.
and let them overlook
أَلَا
ʹAlaa
(Do) not
تُحِبُّونَ
tuḥibboona
you like
أَن
ʹañy
that
يَغۡفِرَ
yag̣firal
Allah should forgive
ٱللَّهُ
laahu
Allah should forgive
لَكُمۡۚ
lakum?
you
وَٱللَّهُ
Wal-laahu
And Allah
غَفُورٞ
G̣afoorur
(is) Oft-Forgiving
رَّحِيمٌ
Raḥeem.
Most Merciful
٢٢
24:23
إِنَّ
ʹInnal
Indeed
ٱلَّذِينَ
laẓeena
those who
يَرۡمُونَ
yarmoonal
accuse
ٱلۡمُحۡصَنَٰتِ
muḥṣanaatil
the chaste women
ٱلۡغَٰفِلَٰتِ
g̣aafilaatil
the unaware women
ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنَٰتِ
Muʹminaati
(and) the believing women
لُعِنُواْ
luʻinoo
are cursed
فِي
fid
in
ٱلدُّنۡيَا
dunyaa
the world
وَٱلۡأٓخِرَةِ
wal-ʹAakhirah:
and the Hereafter
وَلَهُمۡ
wa-lahum
And for them
عَذَابٌ
ʻAẓaabun
(is) a punishment
عَظِيمٞ
ʻaz̤̣eem,
great
٢٣
24:24
يَوۡمَ
Yawma
(On a) Day
تَشۡهَدُ
tashhadu
will bear witness
عَلَيۡهِمۡ
ʻalayhim
against them
أَلۡسِنَتُهُمۡ
ʹalsinatuhum
their tongues
وَأَيۡدِيهِمۡ
wa-ʹaydeehim
and their hands
وَأَرۡجُلُهُم
wa-ʹarjuluhum̃
and their feet
بِمَا
bimaa
for what
كَانُواْ
kaanoo
they used
يَعۡمَلُونَ
yaʻmaloon.
(to) do
٢٤
24:25
يَوۡمَئِذٖ
Yawmaʹiẓiñy
That Day
يُوَفِّيهِمُ
yuwaffeehimul
Allah will pay them in full
ٱللَّهُ
laahu
Allah will pay them in full
دِينَهُمُ
deenahumul
their recompense
ٱلۡحَقَّ
ḥaq̣q̣a
the due
وَيَعۡلَمُونَ
wa-yaʻlamoona
and they will know
أَنَّ
ʹannal
that
ٱللَّهَ
laaha
Allah
هُوَ
Huwal
He
ٱلۡحَقُّ
Ḥaq̣q̣ul
(is) the Truth
ٱلۡمُبِينُ
Mubeen.
the Manifest
