23:2ٱلَّذِينَalladhinaThose whoهُمۡhum[they]فِيfiduringصَلَاتِهِمۡsalatihimtheir prayersخَٰشِعُونَkhashi'una(are) humbly submissive٢
23:3وَٱلَّذِينَwa-alladhinaThose whoهُمۡhum[they]عَنِanifromٱللَّغۡوِal-laghwithe vain talkمُعۡرِضُونَmu'ridunaturn away٣
23:4وَٱلَّذِينَwa-alladhinaThose whoهُمۡhum[they]لِلزَّكَوٰةِlilzzakatiof purification worksفَٰعِلُونَfa'iluna(are) doers٤
23:5وَٱلَّذِينَwa-alladhinaAnd those whoهُمۡhum[they]لِفُرُوجِهِمۡlifurujihimof their modestyحَٰفِظُونَhafizuna(are) guardians٥
23:6إِلَّاillaExceptعَلَىٰٓalafromأَزۡوَٰجِهِمۡazwajihimtheir spousesأَوۡaworمَاmawhatمَلَكَتۡmalakatpossessأَيۡمَٰنُهُمۡaymanuhumtheir right handsفَإِنَّهُمۡfa-innahumthen indeed theyغَيۡرُghayru(are) notمَلُومِينَmaluminablameworthy٦
23:7فَمَنِfamaniThen whoeverٱبۡتَغَىٰib'taghaseeksوَرَآءَwaraabeyondذَٰلِكَdhalikathatفَأُوْلَٰٓئِكَfa-ulaikathen thoseهُمُhumu[they]ٱلۡعَادُونَal-'aduna(are) the transgressors٧
23:8وَٱلَّذِينَwa-alladhinaAnd those whoهُمۡhum[they]لِأَمَٰنَٰتِهِمۡli-amanatihimof their trustsوَعَهۡدِهِمۡwa'ahdihimand their promise(s)رَٰعُونَra'una(are) observers٨
23:9وَٱلَّذِينَwa-alladhinaAnd those whoهُمۡhum[they]عَلَىٰalaoverصَلَوَٰتِهِمۡsalawatihimtheir prayersيُحَافِظُونَyuhafizunathey guard٩
23:11ٱلَّذِينَalladhinaWhoيَرِثُونَyarithunawill inheritٱلۡفِرۡدَوۡسَal-fir'dawsathe ParadiseهُمۡhumTheyفِيهَاfihathereinخَٰلِدُونَkhaliduna(will) abide forever١١
23:12وَلَقَدۡwalaqadAnd indeedخَلَقۡنَاkhalaqnaWe createdٱلۡإِنسَٰنَal-insanathe humankindمِنminfromسُلَٰلَةٖsulalatinan essenceمِّنminofطِينٖtininclay١٢
23:13ثُمَّthummaThenجَعَلۡنَٰهُja'alnahuWe placed himنُطۡفَةٗnut'fatan(as) a semen-dropفِيfiinقَرَارٖqararina resting placeمَّكِينٖmakininfirm١٣
23:14ثُمَّthummaThenخَلَقۡنَاkhalaqnaWe createdٱلنُّطۡفَةَal-nut'fatathe semen-dropعَلَقَةٗalaqatan(into) a clinging substanceفَخَلَقۡنَاfakhalaqnathen We createdٱلۡعَلَقَةَal-'alaqatathe clinging substanceمُضۡغَةٗmud'ghatan(into) an embryonic lumpفَخَلَقۡنَاfakhalaqnathen We createdٱلۡمُضۡغَةَal-mud'ghatathe embryonic lumpعِظَٰمٗاizaman(into) bonesفَكَسَوۡنَاfakasawnathen We clothedٱلۡعِظَٰمَal-'izamathe bonesلَحۡمٗاlahman(with) fleshثُمَّthummathenأَنشَأۡنَٰهُanshanahuWe produce itخَلۡقًاkhalqan(as) a creationءَاخَرَۚakharaanotherفَتَبَارَكَfatabarakaSo blessed isٱللَّهُal-lahuAllahأَحۡسَنُahsanu(the) Bestٱلۡخَٰلِقِينَal-khaliqina(of) the Creators١٤
23:15ثُمَّthummaThenإِنَّكُمinnakumindeed youبَعۡدَba'daafterذَٰلِكَdhalikathatلَمَيِّتُونَlamayyitunasurely (will) die١٥
23:16ثُمَّthummaThenإِنَّكُمۡinnakumindeed youيَوۡمَyawma(on the) Dayٱلۡقِيَٰمَةِal-qiyamati(of) the Resurrectionتُبۡعَثُونَtub'athunawill be resurrected١٦
23:17وَلَقَدۡwalaqadAnd indeedخَلَقۡنَاkhalaqnaWe (have) createdفَوۡقَكُمۡfawqakumabove youسَبۡعَsab'asevenطَرَآئِقَtaraiqapathsوَمَاwamaand notكُنَّاkunnaWe areعَنِaniofٱلۡخَلۡقِal-khalqithe creationغَٰفِلِينَghafilinaunaware١٧
23:18وَأَنزَلۡنَاwa-anzalnaAnd We send downمِنَminafromٱلسَّمَآءِal-samaithe skyمَآءَۢmaanwaterبِقَدَرٖbiqadarinin (due) measureفَأَسۡكَنَّٰهُfa-askannahuthen We cause it to settleفِيfiinٱلۡأَرۡضِۖal-ardithe earthوَإِنَّاwa-innaAnd indeed Weعَلَىٰalaonذَهَابِۭdhahabintaking it awayبِهِۦbihitaking it awayلَقَٰدِرُونَlaqadirunasurely (are) Able١٨
23:19فَأَنشَأۡنَاfa-anshanaThen We producedلَكُمlakumfor youبِهِۦbihiby itجَنَّٰتٖjannatingardensمِّنminof date-palmsنَّخِيلٖnakhilinof date-palmsوَأَعۡنَٰبٖwa-a'nabinand grapevinesلَّكُمۡlakumfor youفِيهَاfihain itفَوَٰكِهُfawakihu(are) fruitsكَثِيرَةٞkathiratunabundantوَمِنۡهَاwamin'haand from themتَأۡكُلُونَtakulunayou eat١٩
23:20وَشَجَرَةٗwashajaratanAnd a treeتَخۡرُجُtakhruju(that) springs forthمِنminfromطُورِturiMount SinaiسَيۡنَآءَsaynaaMount Sinaiتَنۢبُتُtanbutu(which) producesبِٱلدُّهۡنِbil-duh'nioilوَصِبۡغٖwasib'ghinand a relishلِّلۡأٓكِلِينَlil'akilinafor those who eat٢٠
23:21وَإِنَّwa-innaAnd indeedلَكُمۡlakumfor youفِيfiinٱلۡأَنۡعَٰمِal-an'amithe cattleلَعِبۡرَةٗۖla'ib'ratansurely (is) a lessonنُّسۡقِيكُمnus'qikumWe give you drinkمِّمَّاmimmafrom whatفِيfi(is) inبُطُونِهَاbutunihatheir belliesوَلَكُمۡwalakumand for youفِيهَاfihain themمَنَٰفِعُmanafi'u(are) benefitsكَثِيرَةٞkathiratunmanyوَمِنۡهَاwamin'haand of themتَأۡكُلُونَtakulunayou eat٢١
23:22وَعَلَيۡهَاwa'alayhaAnd on themوَعَلَىwa'alaand onٱلۡفُلۡكِal-ful'ki[the] shipsتُحۡمَلُونَtuh'malunayou are carried٢٢
23:23وَلَقَدۡwalaqadAnd verilyأَرۡسَلۡنَاarsalnaWe sentنُوحًاnuhanNuhإِلَىٰilatoقَوۡمِهِۦqawmihihis peopleفَقَالَfaqalaand he saidيَٰقَوۡمِyaqawmiO my peopleٱعۡبُدُواْu'buduWorshipٱللَّهَal-lahaAllahمَاmanotلَكُمlakumfor youمِّنۡmin(is) anyإِلَٰهٍilahingodغَيۡرُهُۥٓۚghayruhuother than HimأَفَلَاafalaThen will notتَتَّقُونَtattaqunayou fear٢٣
23:24فَقَالَfaqalaBut saidٱلۡمَلَؤُاْal-mala-uthe chiefsٱلَّذِينَalladhina(of) those whoكَفَرُواْkafarudisbelievedمِنminamongقَوۡمِهِۦqawmihihis peopleمَاmaThis is notهَٰذَآhadhaThis is notإِلَّاillabutبَشَرٞbasharuna manمِّثۡلُكُمۡmith'lukumlike youيُرِيدُyuriduhe wishesأَنantoيَتَفَضَّلَyatafaddalaassert (his) superiorityعَلَيۡكُمۡalaykumover youوَلَوۡwalawand ifشَآءَshaaAllah had willedٱللَّهُal-lahuAllah had willedلَأَنزَلَla-anzalasurely He (would have) sent downمَلَٰٓئِكَةٗmalaikatanAngelsمَّاmaNotسَمِعۡنَاsami'nawe heardبِهَٰذَاbihadhaof thisفِيٓfifromءَابَآئِنَاabainaour forefathersٱلۡأَوَّلِينَal-awalinaour forefathers٢٤
23:25إِنۡinNotهُوَhuwaheإِلَّاilla(is) butرَجُلُۢrajuluna manبِهِۦbihiin himجِنَّةٞjinnatun(is) madnessفَتَرَبَّصُواْfatarabbasuso waitبِهِۦbihiconcerning himحَتَّىٰhattauntilحِينٖhinina time٢٥
23:26قَالَqalaHe saidرَبِّrabbiMy Lordٱنصُرۡنِيunsur'niHelp meبِمَاbimabecauseكَذَّبُونِkadhabunithey deny me٢٦
23:27فَأَوۡحَيۡنَآfa-awhaynaSo We inspiredإِلَيۡهِilayhito himأَنِaniThatٱصۡنَعِis'na'iconstructٱلۡفُلۡكَal-ful'kathe shipبِأَعۡيُنِنَاbi-a'yuninaunder Our eyesوَوَحۡيِنَاwawahyinaand Our inspirationفَإِذَاfa-idhathen whenجَآءَjaacomesأَمۡرُنَاamrunaOur Commandوَفَارَwafaraand gushes forthٱلتَّنُّورُal-tanuruthe ovenفَٱسۡلُكۡfa-us'lukthen putفِيهَاfihainto itمِنminofكُلّٖkullinevery (kind)زَوۡجَيۡنِzawjayni(of) matesٱثۡنَيۡنِith'naynitwoوَأَهۡلَكَwa-ahlakaand your familyإِلَّاillaexceptمَنmanthoseسَبَقَsabaqa(has) precededعَلَيۡهِalayhiagainst whomٱلۡقَوۡلُal-qawluthe Wordمِنۡهُمۡۖmin'humthereofوَلَاwalaAnd (do) notتُخَٰطِبۡنِيtukhatib'niaddress Meفِيficoncerningٱلَّذِينَalladhinathose whoظَلَمُوٓاْzalamuwrongedإِنَّهُمinnahumindeed theyمُّغۡرَقُونَmugh'raquna(are) the ones to be drowned٢٧
23:28فَإِذَاfa-idhaAnd whenٱسۡتَوَيۡتَis'tawaytayou (have) boardedأَنتَantayouوَمَنwamanand whoeverمَّعَكَma'aka(is) with youعَلَىala[on]ٱلۡفُلۡكِal-ful'kithe shipفَقُلِfaqulithen sayٱلۡحَمۡدُal-hamduPraiseلِلَّهِlillahi(be) to AllahٱلَّذِيalladhiWhoنَجَّىٰنَاnajjana(has) saved usمِنَminafromٱلۡقَوۡمِal-qawmithe people ٱلظَّٰلِمِينَal-zaliminathe wrongdoers٢٨
23:29وَقُلwaqulAnd sayرَّبِّrabbiMy Lordأَنزِلۡنِيanzil'nicause me to landمُنزَلٗاmunzalan(at) a landing placeمُّبَارَكٗاmubarakanblessedوَأَنتَwa-antaand Youخَيۡرُkhayru(are) the Bestٱلۡمُنزِلِينَal-munzilina(of) those who cause to land٢٩
23:30إِنَّinnaIndeedفِيfiinذَٰلِكَdhalikathatلَأٓيَٰتٖlaayatinsurely (are) Signsوَإِنwa-inand indeedكُنَّاkunnaWe areلَمُبۡتَلِينَlamub'talinasurely testing٣٠
23:31ثُمَّthummaThenأَنشَأۡنَاanshanaWe producedمِنۢminafter themبَعۡدِهِمۡba'dihimafter themقَرۡنًاqarnana generationءَاخَرِينَakharinaanother٣١
23:32فَأَرۡسَلۡنَاfa-arsalnaAnd We sentفِيهِمۡfihimamong themرَسُولٗاrasulana Messengerمِّنۡهُمۡmin'humfrom themselvesأَنِani[that]ٱعۡبُدُواْu'buduWorshipٱللَّهَal-lahaAllahمَاmanotلَكُمlakumfor youمِّنۡmin(is) anyإِلَٰهٍilahingodغَيۡرُهُۥٓۚghayruhuother than HimأَفَلَاafalaThen will notتَتَّقُونَtattaqunayou fear٣٢
23:33وَقَالَwaqalaAnd saidٱلۡمَلَأُal-mala-uthe chiefsمِنminofقَوۡمِهِqawmihihis peopleٱلَّذِينَalladhinawhoكَفَرُواْkafarudisbelievedوَكَذَّبُواْwakadhabuand deniedبِلِقَآءِbiliqai(the) meetingٱلۡأٓخِرَةِal-akhirati(of) the Hereafterوَأَتۡرَفۡنَٰهُمۡwa-atrafnahumwhile We had given them luxuryفِيfiinٱلۡحَيَوٰةِal-hayatithe lifeٱلدُّنۡيَاal-dun'ya(of) the worldمَاmaNotهَٰذَآhadha(is) thisإِلَّاillabutبَشَرٞbasharuna manمِّثۡلُكُمۡmith'lukumlike youيَأۡكُلُyakuluHe eatsمِمَّاmimmaof whatتَأۡكُلُونَtakulunayou eatمِنۡهُmin'hu[from it]وَيَشۡرَبُwayashrabuand he drinksمِمَّاmimmaof whatتَشۡرَبُونَtashrabunayou drink٣٣
23:34وَلَئِنۡwala-inAnd surely ifأَطَعۡتُمata'tumyou obeyبَشَرٗاbasharana manمِّثۡلَكُمۡmith'lakumlike youإِنَّكُمۡinnakumindeed youإِذٗاidhanthenلَّخَٰسِرُونَlakhasirunasurely (will be) losers٣٤
23:35أَيَعِدُكُمۡaya'idukumDoes he promise you أَنَّكُمۡannakumthat youإِذَاidhawhenمِتُّمۡmittumyou are deadوَكُنتُمۡwakuntumand you becomeتُرَابٗاturabandustوَعِظَٰمًاwa'izamanand bonesأَنَّكُمannakumthat youمُّخۡرَجُونَmukh'rajuna(will be) brought forth٣٥
23:36۞هَيۡهَاتَhayhataFar-(fetched)هَيۡهَاتَhayhatafar-(fetched)لِمَاlimais whatتُوعَدُونَtu'adunayou are promised٣٦
23:37إِنۡinNotهِيَhiyaitإِلَّاilla(is) butحَيَاتُنَاhayatunaour lifeٱلدُّنۡيَاal-dun'ya(of) the worldنَمُوتُnamutuwe dieوَنَحۡيَاwanahyaand we liveوَمَاwamaand notنَحۡنُnahnuweبِمَبۡعُوثِينَbimab'uthina(will be) resurrected٣٧
23:38إِنۡinNotهُوَhuwa(is) heإِلَّاillabutرَجُلٌrajuluna manٱفۡتَرَىٰif'tarawho (has) inventedعَلَىalaaboutٱللَّهِal-lahiAllahكَذِبٗاkadhibana lieوَمَاwamaand notنَحۡنُnahnuweلَهُۥlahu(in) himبِمُؤۡمِنِينَbimu'minina(are) believers٣٨
23:39قَالَqalaHe saidرَبِّrabbiMy Lordٱنصُرۡنِيunsur'niHelp meبِمَاbimabecauseكَذَّبُونِkadhabunithey deny me٣٩
23:40قَالَqalaHe saidعَمَّاammaAfter a little whileقَلِيلٖqalilinAfter a little whileلَّيُصۡبِحُنَّlayus'bihunnasurely they will becomeنَٰدِمِينَnadiminaregretful٤٠
23:41فَأَخَذَتۡهُمُfa-akhadhathumuSo seized themٱلصَّيۡحَةُal-sayhatuthe awful cryبِٱلۡحَقِّbil-haqiin truthفَجَعَلۡنَٰهُمۡfaja'alnahumand We made themغُثَآءٗۚghuthaan(as) rubbish of dead leavesفَبُعۡدٗاfabu'danSo awayلِّلۡقَوۡمِlil'qawmiwith the people ٱلظَّٰلِمِينَal-zaliminathe wrongdoers٤١
23:42ثُمَّthummaThenأَنشَأۡنَاanshanaWe producedمِنۢminafter themبَعۡدِهِمۡba'dihimafter themقُرُونًاqurunana generationءَاخَرِينَakharinaanother٤٢
23:43مَاmaNotتَسۡبِقُtasbiqucan precedeمِنۡminanyأُمَّةٍummatinnationأَجَلَهَاajalahaits termوَمَاwamaand notيَسۡتَـٔۡخِرُونَyastakhirunathey (can) delay (it)٤٣
23:44ثُمَّthummaThenأَرۡسَلۡنَاarsalnaWe sentرُسُلَنَاrusulanaOur Messengersتَتۡرَاۖtatra(in) successionكُلَّkullaEvery timeمَاmaEvery timeجَآءَjaacameأُمَّةٗummatan(to) a nationرَّسُولُهَاrasuluhaits Messengerكَذَّبُوهُۖkadhabuhuthey denied himفَأَتۡبَعۡنَاfa-atba'naso We made (them) follow بَعۡضَهُمba'dahumsome of themبَعۡضٗاba'danothersوَجَعَلۡنَٰهُمۡwaja'alnahumand We made themأَحَادِيثَۚahadithanarrationsفَبُعۡدٗاfabu'danSo awayلِّقَوۡمٖliqawminwith a people لَّاlanotيُؤۡمِنُونَyu'minunathey believe٤٤
23:45ثُمَّthummaThenأَرۡسَلۡنَاarsalnaWe sentمُوسَىٰmusaMusaوَأَخَاهُwa-akhahuand his brotherهَٰرُونَharunaHarunبِـَٔايَٰتِنَاbiayatinawith Our Signsوَسُلۡطَٰنٖwasul'taninand an authorityمُّبِينٍmubininclear٤٥
23:46إِلَىٰilaToفِرۡعَوۡنَfir'awnaFiraunوَمَلَإِيْهِۦwamala-ihiand his chiefsفَٱسۡتَكۡبَرُواْfa-is'takbarubut they behaved arrogantlyوَكَانُواْwakanuand they wereقَوۡمًاqawmana peopleعَالِينَalinahaughty٤٦
23:47فَقَالُوٓاْfaqaluThen they saidأَنُؤۡمِنُanu'minuShall we believeلِبَشَرَيۡنِlibasharayni(in) two menمِثۡلِنَاmith'linalike ourselvesوَقَوۡمُهُمَاwaqawmuhumawhile their peopleلَنَاlanafor usعَٰبِدُونَabiduna(are) slaves٤٧
23:48فَكَذَّبُوهُمَاfakadhabuhumaSo they denied themفَكَانُواْfakanuand they becameمِنَminaofٱلۡمُهۡلَكِينَal-muh'lakinathose who were destroyed٤٨
23:49وَلَقَدۡwalaqadAnd verilyءَاتَيۡنَاataynaWe gaveمُوسَىmusaMusaٱلۡكِتَٰبَal-kitabathe Scriptureلَعَلَّهُمۡla'allahumso that they mayيَهۡتَدُونَyahtadunabe guided٤٩
23:50وَجَعَلۡنَاwaja'alnaAnd We madeٱبۡنَib'na(the) sonمَرۡيَمَmaryama(of) Maryamوَأُمَّهُۥٓwa-ummahuand his motherءَايَةٗayatana Signوَءَاوَيۡنَٰهُمَآwaawaynahumaand We sheltered themإِلَىٰilatoرَبۡوَةٖrabwatina high groundذَاتِdhatiof tranquilityقَرَارٖqararinof tranquilityوَمَعِينٖwama'ininand water springs٥٠
