21:1ٱقۡتَرَبَiq'taraba(Has) approachedلِلنَّاسِlilnnasifor [the] mankindحِسَابُهُمۡhisabuhumtheir accountوَهُمۡwahumwhile theyفِيfi(are) inغَفۡلَةٖghaflatinheedlessnessمُّعۡرِضُونَmu'ridunaturning away١
21:2مَاmaNotيَأۡتِيهِمyatihimcomes to themمِّنminofذِكۡرٖdhik'rina Reminderمِّنminfromرَّبِّهِمrabbihimtheir Lordمُّحۡدَثٍmuh'dathinanewإِلَّاillaexceptٱسۡتَمَعُوهُis'tama'uhuthey listen to itوَهُمۡwahumwhile theyيَلۡعَبُونَyal'abuna(are at) play٢
21:3لَاهِيَةٗlahiyatanDistractedقُلُوبُهُمۡۗqulubuhumtheir heartsوَأَسَرُّواْwa-asarruAnd they concealٱلنَّجۡوَىal-najwathe private conversationٱلَّذِينَalladhinathose whoظَلَمُواْzalamu[they] wrongedهَلۡhalIsهَٰذَآhadhathisإِلَّاillaexceptبَشَرٞbasharuna human beingمِّثۡلُكُمۡۖmith'lukumlike youأَفَتَأۡتُونَafatatunaSo would you approachٱلسِّحۡرَal-sih'rathe magicوَأَنتُمۡwa-antumwhile youتُبۡصِرُونَtub'sirunasee (it)٣
21:4قَالَqalaHe saidرَبِّيrabbiMy Lordيَعۡلَمُya'lamuknowsٱلۡقَوۡلَal-qawlathe wordفِيfiinٱلسَّمَآءِal-samaithe heavensوَٱلۡأَرۡضِۖwal-ardiand the earthوَهُوَwahuwaAnd Heٱلسَّمِيعُal-sami'u(is) the All-Hearerٱلۡعَلِيمُal-'alimuthe All-Knower٤
21:5بَلۡbalNayقَالُوٓاْqaluthey sayأَضۡغَٰثُadghathuMuddledأَحۡلَٰمِۭahlamindreamsبَلِbalinayٱفۡتَرَىٰهُif'tarahuhe (has) invented itبَلۡbalnayهُوَhuwaheشَاعِرٞsha'irun(is) a poetفَلۡيَأۡتِنَاfalyatinaSo let him bring usبِـَٔايَةٖbiayatina signكَمَآkamalike whatأُرۡسِلَur'silawas sentٱلۡأَوَّلُونَal-awaluna(to) the former٥
21:6مَآmaNotءَامَنَتۡamanatbelievedقَبۡلَهُمqablahumbefore themمِّنminanyقَرۡيَةٍqaryatintownأَهۡلَكۡنَٰهَآۖahlaknahawhich We destroyedأَفَهُمۡafahumso will theyيُؤۡمِنُونَyu'minunabelieve٦
21:7وَمَآwamaAnd notأَرۡسَلۡنَاarsalnaWe sentقَبۡلَكَqablakabefore youإِلَّاillaexceptرِجَالٗاrijalanmenنُّوحِيٓnuhiWe revealedإِلَيۡهِمۡۖilayhimto themفَسۡـَٔلُوٓاْfasaluSo askأَهۡلَahla(the) peopleٱلذِّكۡرِal-dhik'ri(of) the Reminderإِنinifكُنتُمۡkuntumyouلَاla(do) notتَعۡلَمُونَta'lamunaknow٧
21:8وَمَاwamaAnd notجَعَلۡنَٰهُمۡja'alnahumWe made themجَسَدٗاjasadanbodiesلَّاlanotيَأۡكُلُونَyakulunaeatingٱلطَّعَامَal-ta'amathe foodوَمَاwamaand notكَانُواْkanuthey wereخَٰلِدِينَkhalidinaimmortals٨
21:9ثُمَّthummaThenصَدَقۡنَٰهُمُsadaqnahumuWe fulfilled (for) themٱلۡوَعۡدَal-wa'dathe promiseفَأَنجَيۡنَٰهُمۡfa-anjaynahumand We saved themوَمَنwamanand whomنَّشَآءُnashauWe willedوَأَهۡلَكۡنَاwa-ahlaknaand We destroyedٱلۡمُسۡرِفِينَal-mus'rifinathe transgressors٩
21:10لَقَدۡlaqadIndeedأَنزَلۡنَآanzalnaWe (have) sent downإِلَيۡكُمۡilaykumto youكِتَٰبٗاkitabana Bookفِيهِfihiin itذِكۡرُكُمۡۚdhik'rukum(is) your mentionأَفَلَاafalaThen will notتَعۡقِلُونَta'qilunayou use reason١٠
21:11وَكَمۡwakamAnd how manyقَصَمۡنَاqasamnaWe (have) shatteredمِنminofقَرۡيَةٖqaryatina townكَانَتۡkanat(that) wasظَالِمَةٗzalimatanunjustوَأَنشَأۡنَاwa-anshanaand We producedبَعۡدَهَاba'dahaafter themقَوۡمًاqawmananother peopleءَاخَرِينَakharinaanother people١١
21:12فَلَمَّآfalammaThen whenأَحَسُّواْahassuthey perceivedبَأۡسَنَآbasanaOur tormentإِذَاidhabeholdهُمhumtheyمِّنۡهَاmin'hafrom itيَرۡكُضُونَyarkudunawere fleeing١٢
21:13لَاlaFlee notتَرۡكُضُواْtarkuduFlee notوَٱرۡجِعُوٓاْwa-ir'ji'ubut returnإِلَىٰilatoمَآmawhatأُتۡرِفۡتُمۡut'rif'tumyou were given luxuryفِيهِfihiin itوَمَسَٰكِنِكُمۡwamasakinikumand to your homesلَعَلَّكُمۡla'allakumso that you mayتُسۡـَٔلُونَtus'alunabe questioned١٣
21:14قَالُواْqaluThey saidيَٰوَيۡلَنَآyawaylanaO woe to usإِنَّاinnaIndeed [we]كُنَّاkunnawe wereظَٰلِمِينَzaliminawrongdoers١٤
21:15فَمَاfamaThen notزَالَتzalatceasedتِّلۡكَtil'ka[this]دَعۡوَىٰهُمۡda'wahumtheir cryحَتَّىٰhattauntilجَعَلۡنَٰهُمۡja'alnahumWe made themحَصِيدًاhasidanreapedخَٰمِدِينَkhamidinaextinct١٥
21:16وَمَاwamaAnd notخَلَقۡنَاkhalaqnaWe createdٱلسَّمَآءَal-samaathe heavensوَٱلۡأَرۡضَwal-ardaand the earthوَمَاwamaand whatبَيۡنَهُمَاbaynahuma(is) between themلَٰعِبِينَla'ibina(for) playing١٦
21:17لَوۡlawIfأَرَدۡنَآaradnaWe intendedأَنanthatنَّتَّخِذَnattakhidhaWe takeلَهۡوٗاlahwana pastimeلَّٱتَّخَذۡنَٰهُla-ittakhadhnahusurely We (could have) taken itمِنminfromلَّدُنَّآladunnaUsإِنinifكُنَّاkunnaWe wereفَٰعِلِينَfa'ilinadoers١٧
21:18بَلۡbalNayنَقۡذِفُnaqdhifuWe hurlبِٱلۡحَقِّbil-haqithe truthعَلَىalaagainstٱلۡبَٰطِلِal-batili[the] falsehoodفَيَدۡمَغُهُۥfayadmaghuhuand it breaks its headفَإِذَاfa-idhabeholdهُوَhuwait (is)زَاهِقٞۚzahiqunvanishingوَلَكُمُwalakumuAnd for youٱلۡوَيۡلُal-waylu(is) destructionمِمَّاmimmafor whatتَصِفُونَtasifunayou ascribe١٨
21:19وَلَهُۥwalahuAnd to Him (belongs)مَنmanwhoeverفِيfi(is) inٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِal-samawatithe heavensوَٱلۡأَرۡضِۚwal-ardiand the earthوَمَنۡwamanAnd (those) whoعِندَهُۥindahu(are) near Himلَاlanotيَسۡتَكۡبِرُونَyastakbirunathey are arrogantعَنۡantoعِبَادَتِهِۦibadatihiworship Himوَلَاwalaand notيَسۡتَحۡسِرُونَyastahsirunathey tire١٩
21:20يُسَبِّحُونَyusabbihunaThey glorify (Him)ٱلَّيۡلَal-layla[the] nightوَٱلنَّهَارَwal-naharaand [the] dayلَاlanotيَفۡتُرُونَyafturunathey slacken٢٠
21:21أَمِamiOrٱتَّخَذُوٓاْittakhadhu(have) they takenءَالِهَةٗalihatangodsمِّنَminafromٱلۡأَرۡضِal-ardithe earthهُمۡhumtheyيُنشِرُونَyunshirunaraise (the dead)٢١
21:22لَوۡlawIfكَانَkana(there) wereفِيهِمَآfihimain both of themءَالِهَةٌalihatungodsإِلَّاillabesidesٱللَّهُal-lahuAllahلَفَسَدَتَاۚlafasadatasurely they (would) have been ruinedفَسُبۡحَٰنَfasub'hanaSo glorifiedٱللَّهِal-lahi(is) AllahرَبِّrabbiLordٱلۡعَرۡشِal-'arshi(of) the Throneعَمَّاamma(above) whatيَصِفُونَyasifunathey attribute٢٢
21:23لَاlaNotيُسۡـَٔلُyus'aluHe (can) be questionedعَمَّاammaabout whatيَفۡعَلُyaf 'aluHe doesوَهُمۡwahumbut theyيُسۡـَٔلُونَyus'alunawill be questioned٢٣
21:24أَمِamiOrٱتَّخَذُواْittakhadhu(have) they takenمِنminbesides Himدُونِهِۦٓdunihibesides HimءَالِهَةٗۖalihatangodsقُلۡqulSayهَاتُواْhatuBringبُرۡهَٰنَكُمۡۖbur'hanakumyour proofهَٰذَاhadhaThisذِكۡرُdhik'ru(is) a Reminderمَنman(for those) whoمَّعِيَma'iya(are) with meوَذِكۡرُwadhik'ruand a Reminderمَنman(for those) whoقَبۡلِيۚqabli(were) before meبَلۡbalButأَكۡثَرُهُمۡaktharuhummost of themلَاla(do) notيَعۡلَمُونَya'lamunaknowٱلۡحَقَّۖal-haqathe truthفَهُمfahumso theyمُّعۡرِضُونَmu'riduna(are) averse٢٤
21:25وَمَآwamaAnd notأَرۡسَلۡنَاarsalnaWe sentمِنminbefore youقَبۡلِكَqablikabefore youمِنminanyرَّسُولٍrasulinMessengerإِلَّاillabutنُوحِيٓnuhiWe reveal(ed)إِلَيۡهِilayhito himأَنَّهُۥannahuthat [He]لَآla(There is) noإِلَٰهَilahagodإِلَّآillaexceptأَنَا۠anaMeفَٱعۡبُدُونِfa-u'buduniso worship Me٢٥
21:26وَقَالُواْwaqaluAnd they sayٱتَّخَذَittakhadhaHas takenٱلرَّحۡمَٰنُal-rahmanuthe Most Graciousوَلَدٗاۗwaladana sonسُبۡحَٰنَهُۥۚsub'hanahuGlorified is HeبَلۡbalNayعِبَادٞibadun(they are) slavesمُّكۡرَمُونَmuk'ramunahonored٢٦
21:27لَاlaNotيَسۡبِقُونَهُۥyasbiqunahuthey (can) precede Himبِٱلۡقَوۡلِbil-qawliin wordوَهُمwahumand theyبِأَمۡرِهِۦbi-amrihiby His commandيَعۡمَلُونَya'malunaact٢٧
21:28يَعۡلَمُya'lamuHe knowsمَاmawhatبَيۡنَbayna(is) before themأَيۡدِيهِمۡaydihim(is) before themوَمَاwamaand whatخَلۡفَهُمۡkhalfahum(is) behind themوَلَاwalaand notيَشۡفَعُونَyashfa'unathey (can) intercedeإِلَّاillaexceptلِمَنِlimanifor whomٱرۡتَضَىٰir'tadaHe approvesوَهُمwahumAnd theyمِّنۡminfromخَشۡيَتِهِۦkhashyatihifear of Himمُشۡفِقُونَmush'fiqunastand in awe٢٨
21:29۞وَمَنwamanAnd whoeverيَقُلۡyaqulsaysمِنۡهُمۡmin'humof themإِنِّيٓinniIndeed I amإِلَٰهٞilahuna godمِّنminbesides Himدُونِهِۦdunihibesides HimفَذَٰلِكَfadhalikaThen thatنَجۡزِيهِnajzihiWe will recompenseجَهَنَّمَۚjahannama(with) HellكَذَٰلِكَkadhalikaThusنَجۡزِيnajziWe recompenseٱلظَّٰلِمِينَal-zaliminathe wrongdoers٢٩
21:30أَوَلَمۡawalamDo notيَرَyaraseeٱلَّذِينَalladhinathose whoكَفَرُوٓاْkafarudisbelievedأَنَّannathatٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِal-samawatithe heavensوَٱلۡأَرۡضَwal-ardaand the earthكَانَتَاkanatawereرَتۡقٗاratqana joined entityفَفَتَقۡنَٰهُمَاۖfafataqnahumathen We parted themوَجَعَلۡنَاwaja'alnaand We madeمِنَminafromٱلۡمَآءِal-mai[the] waterكُلَّkullaeveryشَيۡءٍshayinliving thingحَيٍّۚhayyinliving thingأَفَلَاafalaThen will notيُؤۡمِنُونَyu'minunathey believe٣٠
21:31وَجَعَلۡنَاwaja'alnaAnd We (have) placedفِيfiinٱلۡأَرۡضِal-ardithe earthرَوَٰسِيَrawasiyafirmly set mountainsأَنanlestتَمِيدَtamidait (should) shakeبِهِمۡbihimwith themوَجَعَلۡنَاwaja'alnaand We madeفِيهَاfihathereinفِجَاجٗاfijajanbroad passesسُبُلٗاsubulan(as) waysلَّعَلَّهُمۡla'allahumso that they mayيَهۡتَدُونَyahtaduna(be) guided٣١
21:32وَجَعَلۡنَاwaja'alnaAnd We madeٱلسَّمَآءَal-samaathe skyسَقۡفٗاsaqfana roofمَّحۡفُوظٗاۖmahfuzanprotectedوَهُمۡwahumBut theyعَنۡanfromءَايَٰتِهَاayatihaits Signsمُعۡرِضُونَmu'ridunaturn away٣٢
21:33وَهُوَwahuwaAnd Heٱلَّذِيalladhi(is) the One Whoخَلَقَkhalaqacreatedٱلَّيۡلَal-laylathe nightوَٱلنَّهَارَwal-naharaand the dayوَٱلشَّمۡسَwal-shamsaand the sunوَٱلۡقَمَرَۖwal-qamaraand the moonكُلّٞkulluneachفِيfiinفَلَكٖfalakinan orbitيَسۡبَحُونَyasbahunafloating٣٣
21:34وَمَاwamaAnd notجَعَلۡنَاja'alnaWe madeلِبَشَرٖlibasharinfor any manمِّنminbefore youقَبۡلِكَqablikabefore youٱلۡخُلۡدَۖal-khul'da[the] immortalityأَفَإِيْنafa-inso ifمِّتَّmittayou dieفَهُمُfahumuthen (would) theyٱلۡخَٰلِدُونَal-khalidunalive forever٣٤
21:35كُلُّkulluEveryنَفۡسٖnafsinsoulذَآئِقَةُdhaiqatu(will) tasteٱلۡمَوۡتِۗal-mawti[the] deathوَنَبۡلُوكُمwanablukumAnd We test youبِٱلشَّرِّbil-shariwith [the] badوَٱلۡخَيۡرِwal-khayriand [the] goodفِتۡنَةٗۖfit'natan(as) a trialوَإِلَيۡنَاwa-ilaynaand to Usتُرۡجَعُونَtur'ja'unayou will be returned٣٥
21:36وَإِذَاwa-idhaAnd whenرَءَاكَraakathey see youٱلَّذِينَalladhinathose whoكَفَرُوٓاْkafarudisbelieveإِنinnotيَتَّخِذُونَكَyattakhidhunakathey take youإِلَّاillaexceptهُزُوًاhuzuwan(in) ridiculeأَهَٰذَاahadhaIs thisٱلَّذِيalladhithe one whoيَذۡكُرُyadhkurumentionsءَالِهَتَكُمۡalihatakumyour godsوَهُمwahumAnd theyبِذِكۡرِbidhik'riat (the) mentionٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِal-rahmani(of) the Most Graciousهُمۡhum[they]كَٰفِرُونَkafiruna(are) disbelievers٣٦
21:37خُلِقَkhuliqaIs createdٱلۡإِنسَٰنُal-insanuthe manمِنۡminofعَجَلٖۚajalinhasteسَأُوْرِيكُمۡsa-urikumI will show youءَايَٰتِيayatiMy Signsفَلَاfalaso (do) notتَسۡتَعۡجِلُونِtasta'jiluniask Me to hasten٣٧
21:38وَيَقُولُونَwayaqulunaAnd they sayمَتَىٰmataWhen (will be fulfilled)هَٰذَاhadhathisٱلۡوَعۡدُal-wa'dupromiseإِنinifكُنتُمۡkuntumyou areصَٰدِقِينَsadiqinatruthful٣٨
21:39لَوۡlawIfيَعۡلَمُya'lamuknewٱلَّذِينَalladhinathose whoكَفَرُواْkafarudisbelievedحِينَhina(the) timeلَاla(when) notيَكُفُّونَyakuffunathey will avertعَنanfromوُجُوهِهِمُwujuhihimutheir facesٱلنَّارَal-narathe Fireوَلَاwalaand notعَنanfromظُهُورِهِمۡzuhurihimtheir backsوَلَاwalaand notهُمۡhumtheyيُنصَرُونَyunsarunawill be helped٣٩
21:40بَلۡbalNayتَأۡتِيهِمtatihimit will come to themبَغۡتَةٗbaghtatanunexpectedlyفَتَبۡهَتُهُمۡfatabhatuhumand bewilder themفَلَاfalathen notيَسۡتَطِيعُونَyastati'unathey will be ableرَدَّهَاraddahato repel itوَلَاwalaand notهُمۡhumtheyيُنظَرُونَyunzarunawill be given respite٤٠
21:41وَلَقَدِwalaqadiAnd verilyٱسۡتُهۡزِئَus'tuh'zi-awere mockedبِرُسُلٖbirusulinMessengersمِّنminbefore youقَبۡلِكَqablikabefore youفَحَاقَfahaqathen surroundedبِٱلَّذِينَbi-alladhinathose whoسَخِرُواْsakhirumockedمِنۡهُمmin'humfrom themمَّاmawhatكَانُواْkanuthey usedبِهِۦbihiat itيَسۡتَهۡزِءُونَyastahziuna(to) mock٤١
21:42قُلۡqulSayمَنmanWhoيَكۡلَؤُكُمyakla-ukum(can) protect youبِٱلَّيۡلِbi-al-layliin the nightوَٱلنَّهَارِwal-nahariand the dayمِنَminafromٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِۚal-rahmanithe Most GraciousبَلۡbalYetهُمۡhumtheyعَنanfromذِكۡرِdhik'ri(the) remembranceرَبِّهِمrabbihim(of) their Lordمُّعۡرِضُونَmu'ridunaturn away٤٢
21:43أَمۡamOrلَهُمۡlahumhave theyءَالِهَةٞalihatungodsتَمۡنَعُهُمtamna'uhum(to) defend themمِّنminfromدُونِنَاۚduninaUsلَاlaNotيَسۡتَطِيعُونَyastati'unathey are ableنَصۡرَnasra(to) helpأَنفُسِهِمۡanfusihimthemselvesوَلَاwalaand notهُمhumtheyمِّنَّاminnafrom Usيُصۡحَبُونَyus'habunacan be protected٤٣
21:44بَلۡbalNayمَتَّعۡنَاmatta'naWe gave provisionهَٰٓؤُلَآءِhaulai(to) theseوَءَابَآءَهُمۡwaabaahumand their fathersحَتَّىٰhattauntilطَالَtalagrew longعَلَيۡهِمُalayhimufor themٱلۡعُمُرُۗal-'umuruthe lifeأَفَلَاafalaThen do notيَرَوۡنَyarawnathey seeأَنَّاannathat WeنَأۡتِيnatiWe comeٱلۡأَرۡضَal-arda(to) the landنَنقُصُهَاnanqusuhaWe reduce itمِنۡminfromأَطۡرَافِهَآۚatrafihaits bordersأَفَهُمُafahumuSo is (it) theyٱلۡغَٰلِبُونَal-ghalibuna(who will be) overcoming٤٤
21:45قُلۡqulSayإِنَّمَآinnamaOnlyأُنذِرُكُمundhirukumI warn youبِٱلۡوَحۡيِۚbil-wahyiby the revelationوَلَاwalaBut notيَسۡمَعُyasma'uhearٱلصُّمُّal-sumuthe deafٱلدُّعَآءَal-du'aathe callإِذَاidhawhenمَاmawhenيُنذَرُونَyundharunathey are warned٤٥
21:46وَلَئِنwala-inAnd ifمَّسَّتۡهُمۡmassathumtouches themنَفۡحَةٞnafhatuna whiffمِّنۡminofعَذَابِadhabi(the) punishmentرَبِّكَrabbika(of) your Lordلَيَقُولُنَّlayaqulunnasurely they will sayيَٰوَيۡلَنَآyawaylanaO woe to usإِنَّاinnaIndeed weكُنَّاkunna[we] wereظَٰلِمِينَzaliminawrongdoers٤٦
21:47وَنَضَعُwanada'uAnd We setٱلۡمَوَٰزِينَal-mawazinathe scalesٱلۡقِسۡطَal-qis'ta(of) the justiceلِيَوۡمِliyawmifor (the) Dayٱلۡقِيَٰمَةِal-qiyamati(of) the Resurrectionفَلَاfalaso notتُظۡلَمُtuz'lamuwill be wrongedنَفۡسٞnafsunany soulشَيۡـٔٗاۖshayan(in) anythingوَإِنwa-inAnd ifكَانَkana(there) beمِثۡقَالَmith'qalaweightحَبَّةٖhabbatin(of) a seedمِّنۡminofخَرۡدَلٍkhardalina mustardأَتَيۡنَاataynaWe will bringبِهَاۗbiha[with] itوَكَفَىٰwakafaAnd sufficientبِنَاbina(are) Weحَٰسِبِينَhasibina(as) Reckoners٤٧
21:48وَلَقَدۡwalaqadAnd verilyءَاتَيۡنَاataynaWe gaveمُوسَىٰmusaMusaوَهَٰرُونَwaharunaand Harunٱلۡفُرۡقَانَal-fur'qanathe Criterionوَضِيَآءٗwadiyaanand a lightوَذِكۡرٗاwadhik'ranand a Reminderلِّلۡمُتَّقِينَlil'muttaqinafor the righteous٤٨
21:49ٱلَّذِينَalladhinaThose whoيَخۡشَوۡنَyakhshawnafearرَبَّهُمrabbahumtheir Lordبِٱلۡغَيۡبِbil-ghaybiin the unseenوَهُمwahumand theyمِّنَminaofٱلسَّاعَةِal-sa'atithe Hourمُشۡفِقُونَmush'fiquna(are) afraid٤٩
21:50وَهَٰذَاwahadhaAnd thisذِكۡرٞdhik'run(is) a Reminderمُّبَارَكٌmubarakunblessedأَنزَلۡنَٰهُۚanzalnahuwhich We (have) revealedأَفَأَنتُمۡafa-antumThen are youلَهُۥlahuof itمُنكِرُونَmunkirunarejecters٥٠
