(is a) waiting (of)
أَرۡبَعَةِ
ʹarbaʻati

أَشۡهُرٖۖ
ʹashhur!

فَإِن

then if
فَآءُو

they return
فَإِنَّ
faʹinnal
then indeed
ٱللَّهَ
laaha
Allah
غَفُورٞ
G̣afoorur
(is) Oft-Forgiving
رَّحِيمٞ
Raḥeem.
Most Merciful
٢٢٦
2:227
وَإِنۡ
Wa-ʹin
And if
عَزَمُواْ
ʻazamuṭ
they resolve
ٱلطَّلَٰقَ
ṭalaaq̣a
(on) [the] divorce
فَإِنَّ
faʹinnal
then indeed
ٱللَّهَ
laaha
Allah
سَمِيعٌ
Sameeʻun
(is) All-Hearing
عَلِيمٞ
ʻAleem.
All-Knowing
٢٢٧
2:228
وَٱلۡمُطَلَّقَٰتُ
Walmuṭallaq̣aatu
And the women who are divorced
يَتَرَبَّصۡنَ
yatarabbaṣna
shall wait
بِأَنفُسِهِنَّ
biʹañfusihinna
concerning themselves
ثَلَٰثَةَ
s̤alaas̤ata
(for) three
قُرُوٓءٖۚ
q̣uroooʹ.
monthly periods
وَلَا
Wa-laa
And (it is) not
يَحِلُّ
yaḥillu
lawful
لَهُنَّ
lahunna
for them
أَن
ʹañy
that
يَكۡتُمۡنَ
yaktumna
they conceal
مَا
maa-
what
خَلَقَ
khalaq̣al
(has been) created
ٱللَّهُ
laahu
(by) Allah
فِيٓ
feee
in
أَرۡحَامِهِنَّ
ʹarḥaamihinna
their wombs
إِن
ʹiñ
if
كُنَّ
kunna
they
يُؤۡمِنَّ
yuʹminna
believe
بِٱللَّهِ
bil-laahi
in Allah
وَٱلۡيَوۡمِ
wal-Yawmil
and the Day
ٱلۡأٓخِرِۚ
ʹAakhir.
[the] Last
وَبُعُولَتُهُنَّ
Wa-buʻoola-tuhunna
And their husbands
أَحَقُّ
ʹaḥaq̣q̣u
(have) better right
بِرَدِّهِنَّ
biraddihinna
to take them back
فِي
fee
in
ذَٰلِكَ
ẓaalika
that (period)
إِنۡ
ʹin
if
أَرَادُوٓاْ
ʹaraadooo
they wish
إِصۡلَٰحٗاۚ
ʹiṣlaaḥaa.
(for) reconciliation
وَلَهُنَّ
Wa-lahunna
And for them
مِثۡلُ
mis̤lul
(is the) like
ٱلَّذِي
laẓee
(of) that which
عَلَيۡهِنَّ
ʻalayhinna
(is) on them
بِٱلۡمَعۡرُوفِۚ
bilmaʻroof:
in a reasonable manner
وَلِلرِّجَالِ
wa-lir-rijaali
and for the men
عَلَيۡهِنَّ
ʻalayhinna
over them
دَرَجَةٞۗ
darajah.
(is) a degree
وَٱللَّهُ
Wallaahu
And Allah
عَزِيزٌ
ʻAzeezun
(is) All-Mighty
حَكِيمٌ
Ḥakeem.
All-Wise
٢٢٨
2:229
ٱلطَّلَٰقُ
ʹAṭṭalaaq̣u
The divorce
مَرَّتَانِۖ
marrataan:
(is) twice
فَإِمۡسَاكُۢ
faʹimsaakum
Then to retain
بِمَعۡرُوفٍ
bimaʻroofin
in a reasonable manner
أَوۡ
ʹaw
or
تَسۡرِيحُۢ
tasreeḥum
to release (her)
بِإِحۡسَٰنٖۗ
biʹiḥsaan.
with kindness
وَلَا
Wa-laa
And (it is) not
يَحِلُّ
yaḥillu
lawful
لَكُمۡ
lakum
for you
أَن
ʹañ
that
تَأۡخُذُواْ
taʹkhuẓoo
you take (back)
مِمَّآ
mimmaaa
whatever
ءَاتَيۡتُمُوهُنَّ
ʹaataytumoohunna
you have given them
شَيۡـًٔا
shayʹan
anything
إِلَّآ
ʹillaaa
except
أَن
ʹañy
if
يَخَافَآ
yakhaafaaa
both fear
أَلَّا
ʹallaa
that not
يُقِيمَا
yuq̣eemaa
they both (can) keep
حُدُودَ
Ḥudoodal
(the) limits
ٱللَّهِۖ
laah.
(of) Allah
فَإِنۡ
Faʹin
But if
خِفۡتُمۡ
khiftum
you fear
أَلَّا
ʹallaa
that not
يُقِيمَا
yuq̣eemaa
they both (can) keep
حُدُودَ
Ḥudoodal
(the) limits
ٱللَّهِ
laahi
(of) Allah
فَلَا
falaa
then (there is) no
جُنَاحَ
junaaḥa
sin
عَلَيۡهِمَا
ʻalayhimaa
on both of them
فِيمَا
feemaf
in what
ٱفۡتَدَتۡ
tadat
she ransoms
بِهِۦۗ
bih.
concerning it
تِلۡكَ
Tilka
These
حُدُودُ
Ḥudoodul
(are the) limits
ٱللَّهِ
laahi
(of) Allah
فَلَا
falaa
so (do) not
تَعۡتَدُوهَاۚ
taʻtadoohaa.
transgress them
وَمَن
Wa-mañy
And whoever
يَتَعَدَّ
yataʻadda
transgresses
حُدُودَ
Ḥudoodal
(the) limits
ٱللَّهِ
laahi
(of) Allah
فَأُوْلَٰٓئِكَ
faʹulaaaʹika
then those
هُمُ
humuz̤̣
they
ٱلظَّٰلِمُونَ
z̤̣aalimoon.
(are) the wrongdoers
٢٢٩
2:230
فَإِن
Faʹiñ
Then if
طَلَّقَهَا
ṭallaq̣ahaa
he divorces her
فَلَا
falaa
then (she is) not
تَحِلُّ
taḥillu
lawful
لَهُۥ
lahu
for him
مِنۢ
mim
from
بَعۡدُ
baʻdu
after (that)
حَتَّىٰ
ḥattaa
until
تَنكِحَ
ṭañkiḥa
she marries
زَوۡجًا
zawjan
a spouse
غَيۡرَهُۥۗ
g̣ayrah:
other than him
فَإِن
faʹiñ
Then if
طَلَّقَهَا
ṭallaq̣ahaa
he divorces her
فَلَا
falaa
then no
جُنَاحَ
junaaha
sin
عَلَيۡهِمَآ
ʻalayhimaaa
on them
أَن
ʹañy
if
يَتَرَاجَعَآ
yataraajaʻaaa
they return to each other
إِن
ʹiñ
if
ظَنَّآ
z̤̣annaaa
they believe
أَن
ʹañy
that
يُقِيمَا
yuq̣eemaa
they (will be able to) keep
حُدُودَ
Ḥudoodal
(the) limits
ٱللَّهِۗ
laah.
(of) Allah
وَتِلۡكَ
Wa-tilka
And these
حُدُودُ
Ḥudoodul
(are the) limits
ٱللَّهِ
laahi
(of) Allah
يُبَيِّنُهَا
yubayyinuhaa
He makes them clear
لِقَوۡمٖ
liq̣awmiñy
to a people
يَعۡلَمُونَ
yaʻlamoon.
who know

2:231
وَإِذَا
Wa-ʹiẓaa
And when
طَلَّقۡتُمُ
ṭallaq̣tumun
you divorce
ٱلنِّسَآءَ
nisaaaʹa
the women
فَبَلَغۡنَ
fabalag̣na
and they reach
أَجَلَهُنَّ
ʹajalahunna
their (waiting) term
فَأَمۡسِكُوهُنَّ
faʹamsikoohunna
then retain them
بِمَعۡرُوفٍ
bimaʻroofin
in a fair manner
أَوۡ
ʹaw
or
سَرِّحُوهُنَّ
sarriḥoohunna
release them
بِمَعۡرُوفٖۚ
bimaʻroof.
in a fair manner
وَلَا
Wa-laa
And (do) not
تُمۡسِكُوهُنَّ
tumsikoohunna
retain them
ضِرَارٗا
ḍiraaral
(to) hurt
لِّتَعۡتَدُواْۚ
litaʻtadoo.
so that you transgress
وَمَن
Wa-mañy
And whoever
يَفۡعَلۡ
yafʻal
does
ذَٰلِكَ
ẓaalika
that
فَقَدۡ
faq̣ad
then indeed
ظَلَمَ
z̤̣alama
he wronged
نَفۡسَهُۥۚ
naf-sah.
himself
وَلَا
Wa-laa
And (do) not
تَتَّخِذُوٓاْ
tat-takhiẓooo
take
ءَايَٰتِ
ʹAayaatil
(the) Verses
ٱللَّهِ
laahi
(of) Allah
هُزُوٗاۚ
huzuwaa,
(in) jest
وَٱذۡكُرُواْ
waẓkuroo
and remember
نِعۡمَتَ
niʻmatal
(the) Favors
ٱللَّهِ
laahi
(of) Allah
عَلَيۡكُمۡ
ʻalaykum
upon you
وَمَآ
wa-maaa
and what
أَنزَلَ
ʹañzala
(is) revealed
عَلَيۡكُم
ʻalaykum
to you
مِّنَ
minal
of
ٱلۡكِتَٰبِ
Kitaabi
the Book
وَٱلۡحِكۡمَةِ
wal-Ḥikmati
and [the] wisdom
يَعِظُكُم
yaʻi-Z̤̣ukum̃
He instructs you
بِهِۦۚ
bih
with it
وَٱتَّقُواْ
Wattaq̣ul
And fear
ٱللَّهَ
laaha
Allah
وَٱعۡلَمُوٓاْ
waʻlamooo
and know
أَنَّ
ʹannal
that
ٱللَّهَ
laaha
Allah (is)
بِكُلِّ
bikulli
of every
شَيۡءٍ
shayʹin
thing
عَلِيمٞ
ʻAleem.
All-Knower
٢٣١
2:232
وَإِذَا
Wa-ʹiẓaa
And when
طَلَّقۡتُمُ
ṭallaq̣tumun
you divorce
ٱلنِّسَآءَ
nisaaaʹa
[the] women
فَبَلَغۡنَ
fabalag̣na
and they reached
أَجَلَهُنَّ
ʹajalahunna
their (waiting) term
فَلَا
falaa
then (do) not
تَعۡضُلُوهُنَّ
taʻḍuloohunna
hinder them
أَن
ʹañy
[that]
يَنكِحۡنَ
yañkiḥna
(from) marrying
أَزۡوَٰجَهُنَّ
ʹazwaajahunna
their husbands
إِذَا
ʹiẓaa
when
تَرَٰضَوۡاْ
taraaḍaw
they agree
بَيۡنَهُم
baynahum̃
between themselves
بِٱلۡمَعۡرُوفِۗ
bilmaʻroof.
in a fair manner
ذَٰلِكَ
Ẓaalika
That
يُوعَظُ
yooʻaz̤̣u
is admonished
بِهِۦ
bihee
with it
مَن
mañ
whoever
كَانَ
kaana
[is]
مِنكُمۡ
miñkum
among you
يُؤۡمِنُ
yuʹminu
believes
بِٱللَّهِ
billaahi
in Allah
وَٱلۡيَوۡمِ
wal-Yawmil
and the Day
ٱلۡأٓخِرِۗ
ʹAakhir.
[the] Last
ذَٰلِكُمۡ
Ẓaalikum
that
أَزۡكَىٰ
ʹazkaa
(is) more virtuous
لَكُمۡ
lakum
for you
وَأَطۡهَرُۚ
wa-ʹaṭ-har.
and more purer
وَٱللَّهُ
Wallaahu
And Allah
يَعۡلَمُ
yaʻlamu
knows
وَأَنتُمۡ
waʹañtum
and you
لَا
laa-
(do) not
تَعۡلَمُونَ
taʻlamoon.
know
٢٣٢
2:233
۞وَٱلۡوَٰلِدَٰتُ
Walwaalidaatu
And the mothers
يُرۡضِعۡنَ
yurḍiʻna
shall suckle
أَوۡلَٰدَهُنَّ
ʹawlaadahunna
their children
حَوۡلَيۡنِ
ḥawlayni
(for) two years
كَامِلَيۡنِۖ
kaamilayni
complete
لِمَنۡ
liman
for whoever
أَرَادَ
ʹaraada
wishes
أَن
ʹañy
to
يُتِمَّ
yutimmar
complete
ٱلرَّضَاعَةَۚ
raḍaaʻah.
the suckling
وَعَلَى
Wa-ʻalal
And upon
ٱلۡمَوۡلُودِ
mawloodi
the father
لَهُۥ
lahoo
(on) him
رِزۡقُهُنَّ
rizq̣uhunna
(is) their provision
وَكِسۡوَتُهُنَّ
wa-kiswatuhunna
and their clothing
بِٱلۡمَعۡرُوفِۚ
bilmaʻroof.
in a fair manner
لَا
Laa-
Not
تُكَلَّفُ
tukallafu
is burdened
نَفۡسٌ
nafsun
any soul
إِلَّا
ʹillaa
except
وُسۡعَهَاۚ
wusʻahaa.
its capacity
لَا
Laa-
Not
تُضَآرَّ
tuḍaaarra
made to suffer
وَٰلِدَةُۢ
waalidatum
(the) mother
بِوَلَدِهَا
biwaladihaa
because of her child
وَلَا
wa-laa
and not
مَوۡلُودٞ
mawloodul
(the) father
لَّهُۥ
lahoo
(be)
بِوَلَدِهِۦۚ
biwaladihee
because of his child
وَعَلَى
wa-ʻalal
And on
ٱلۡوَارِثِ
waaris̤i
the (father's) heir
مِثۡلُ
mis̤lu
(is a duty) like
ذَٰلِكَۗ
ẓaalik.
that (of the father)
فَإِنۡ
Faʹin
Then if
أَرَادَا
ʹaraadaa
they both desire
فِصَالًا
fiṣaalan
weaning
عَن
ʻañ
through
تَرَاضٖ
taraaḍim
mutual consent
مِّنۡهُمَا
minhumaa
of both of them
وَتَشَاوُرٖ
wa-tashaawuriñ
and consultation
فَلَا
falaa
then no
جُنَاحَ
junaaḥa
blame
عَلَيۡهِمَاۗ
ʻalayhimaa.
on both of them
وَإِنۡ
Wa-ʹin
And if
أَرَدتُّمۡ
ʹarattum
you want
أَن
ʹañ
to
تَسۡتَرۡضِعُوٓاْ
tastarḍiʻooo
ask another women to suckle
أَوۡلَٰدَكُمۡ
ʹawlaadakum
your child
فَلَا
falaa
then (there is) no
جُنَاحَ
junaaḥa
blame
عَلَيۡكُمۡ
ʻalaykum
on you
إِذَا
ʹiẓaa
when
سَلَّمۡتُم
sallamtum
you pay
مَّآ
maaa
what
ءَاتَيۡتُم
ʹaataytum̃
you give
بِٱلۡمَعۡرُوفِۗ
bilmaʻroof.
in a fair manner
وَٱتَّقُواْ
Wattaq̣ul
And fear
ٱللَّهَ
laaha
Allah
وَٱعۡلَمُوٓاْ
waʻlamooo
and know
أَنَّ
ʹannal
that
ٱللَّهَ
laaha
Allah
بِمَا
bimaa
of what
تَعۡمَلُونَ
taʻmaloona
you do
بَصِيرٞ
Baṣeer.
(is) All-Seer

وَٱلَّذِينَ
Wallaẓeena
And those who
يُتَوَفَّوۡنَ
yutawaffawna
pass away
مِنكُمۡ
miñkumwa
among you
وَيَذَرُونَ
yaẓaroona
and leave behind
أَزۡوَٰجٗا
ʹazwaajañy
wives
يَتَرَبَّصۡنَ
yatarabbaṣna
(the widows) should wait
بِأَنفُسِهِنَّ
biʹañfusihinna
for themselves
أَرۡبَعَةَ
ʹarbaʻata
(for) four
أَشۡهُرٖ
ʹashhuriñw
months
وَعَشۡرٗاۖ
Waʻashraa.
and ten (days)
فَإِذَا
Faʹiẓaa
Then when
بَلَغۡنَ
balag̣na
they reach
أَجَلَهُنَّ
ʹajalahunna
their (specified) term
فَلَا
falaa
then (there is) no
جُنَاحَ
juñaḥa
blame
عَلَيۡكُمۡ
ʻalaykum
upon you
فِيمَا
feemaa
for what
فَعَلۡنَ
faʻalna
they do
فِيٓ
feee
concerning
أَنفُسِهِنَّ
ʹañfusihinna
themselves
بِٱلۡمَعۡرُوفِۗ
bilmaʻroof.
in a fair manner
وَٱللَّهُ
Wallaahu
And Allah
بِمَا
bimaa
of what
تَعۡمَلُونَ
taʻmaloona
you do
خَبِيرٞ
Khabeer.
(is) All-Aware
٢٣٤
2:235
وَلَا
Wa-laa
And (there is) no
جُنَاحَ
junaaḥa
blame
عَلَيۡكُمۡ
ʻalaykum
upon you
فِيمَا
fimaa
in what
عَرَّضۡتُم
ʻarraḍtum̃
you hint
بِهِۦ
bihee
[with it]
مِنۡ
min
of
خِطۡبَةِ
khiṭbatin
marriage proposal
ٱلنِّسَآءِ
nisaaaʹi
[to] the women
أَوۡ
ʹaw
or
أَكۡنَنتُمۡ
ʹaknañtum
you conceal it
فِيٓ
feee
in
أَنفُسِكُمۡۚ
ʹañfusikum.
yourselves
عَلِمَ
ʻAlimal
Knows
ٱللَّهُ
laahu
Allah
أَنَّكُمۡ
ʹannakum
that you
سَتَذۡكُرُونَهُنَّ
sataẓkuroonahunna
will mention them
وَلَٰكِن
wa-laakil
[and] but
لَّا
laa
(do) not
تُوَاعِدُوهُنَّ
tuwaaʻidoohunna
promise them (widows)
سِرًّا
sirran
secretly
إِلَّآ
ʹillaa
except
أَن
ʹan
that
تَقُولُواْ
taq̣uloo
you say
قَوۡلٗا
q̣awlam
a saying
مَّعۡرُوفٗاۚ
maʻroofaa.
honorable
وَلَا
Wa-laa
And (do) not
تَعۡزِمُواْ
taʻzimoo
resolve (on)
عُقۡدَةَ
ʻuq̣datan
the knot
ٱلنِّكَاحِ
Nikaaḥi
(of) marriage
حَتَّىٰ
ḥattaa
until
يَبۡلُغَ
Yablug̣al
reaches
ٱلۡكِتَٰبُ
Kitaabu
the prescribed term
أَجَلَهُۥۚ
ʹajalah.
its end
وَٱعۡلَمُوٓاْ
Waʻlamooo
And know
أَنَّ
ʹannal
that
ٱللَّهَ
laaha
Allah
يَعۡلَمُ
yaʻlamu
knows
مَا
maa-
what
فِيٓ
feee
(is) within
أَنفُسِكُمۡ
ʹañfusikum
yourselves
فَٱحۡذَرُوهُۚ
faḥ-ẓarooh;
so beware of Him
وَٱعۡلَمُوٓاْ
Waʻlamooo
And know
أَنَّ
ʹannal
that
ٱللَّهَ
laaha
Allah
غَفُورٌ
G̣afoorun
(is) Oft-Forgiving
حَلِيمٞ
Ḥaleem.
Most Forbearing
٢٣٥
2:236
لَّا
Laa-
(There is) no
جُنَاحَ
junaaḥa
blame
عَلَيۡكُمۡ
ʻalaykum
upon you
إِن
ʹiñ
if
طَلَّقۡتُمُ
ṭallaq̣tumun
you divorce
ٱلنِّسَآءَ
nisaaaʹa
[the] women
مَا
maa-
whom
لَمۡ
lam
not
تَمَسُّوهُنَّ
tamassoohunna
you have touched
أَوۡ
ʹaw
nor
تَفۡرِضُواْ
tafriḍoo
you specified
لَهُنَّ
lahunna
for them
فَرِيضَةٗۚ
fareeḍah.
an obligation (dower)
وَمَتِّعُوهُنَّ
Wa-mattiʻoohunna,
And make provision for them
عَلَى
ʻalal
upon
ٱلۡمُوسِعِ
moosiʻi
the wealthy
قَدَرُهُۥ
q̣adaruhoo
according to his means
وَعَلَى
wa-ʻalal
and upon
ٱلۡمُقۡتِرِ
muq̣tiri
the poor
قَدَرُهُۥ
q̣adaruh.
according to his means
مَتَٰعَۢا
Mataaʻam
a provision
بِٱلۡمَعۡرُوفِۖ
bil-maʻroofi:
in a fair manner
حَقًّا
Ḥaq̣q̣an
a duty
عَلَى
ʻalal
upon
ٱلۡمُحۡسِنِينَ
Muḥsineen.
the good-doers
٢٣٦
2:237
وَإِن
Wa-ʹiñ
And if
طَلَّقۡتُمُوهُنَّ
ṭallaq̣tumoohunna
you divorce them
مِن
miñ
from
قَبۡلِ
q̣abli
before
أَن
ʹañ
[that]
تَمَسُّوهُنَّ
tamassoohunna
you (have) touched them
وَقَدۡ
wa-q̣ad
while already
فَرَضۡتُمۡ
faraḍtum
you have specified
لَهُنَّ
lahunna
for them
فَرِيضَةٗ
fareeḍatañ
an obligation (dower)
فَنِصۡفُ
faniṣfu
then (give) half
مَا
maa-
(of) what
فَرَضۡتُمۡ
faraḍtum
you have specified
إِلَّآ
ʹillaaa
unless
أَن
ʹañy
[that]
يَعۡفُونَ
yaʻfoona
they (women) forgo (it)
أَوۡ
ʹaw
or
يَعۡفُوَاْ
yaʻfuwal
forgoes
ٱلَّذِي
laẓee
the one
بِيَدِهِۦ
biyadihee
in whose hands
عُقۡدَةُ
ʻuq̣datun
(is the) knot
ٱلنِّكَاحِۚ
Nikaaḥ.
(of) the marriage
وَأَن
Wa-ʹañ
And that
تَعۡفُوٓاْ
taʻfoo
you forgo
أَقۡرَبُ
ʹaq̣rabu
(is) nearer
لِلتَّقۡوَىٰۚ
littaq̣waa.
to [the] righteousness
وَلَا
Wa-laa
And (do) not
تَنسَوُاْ
tañsawul
forget
ٱلۡفَضۡلَ
faḍla
the graciousness
بَيۡنَكُمۡۚ
baynakum.
among you
إِنَّ
ʹInnal
Indeed
ٱللَّهَ
laaha
Allah
بِمَا
bimaa
of what
تَعۡمَلُونَ
taʻmaloona
you do
بَصِيرٌ
Baṣeer.
(is) All-Seer

حَٰفِظُواْ
Ḥaafiz̤̣oo
Guard strictly
عَلَى
ʻalaṣ
[on]
ٱلصَّلَوَٰتِ
Ṣalawaati
the prayers
وَٱلصَّلَوٰةِ
waṣ-Ṣalaatil
and the prayer
ٱلۡوُسۡطَىٰ
wusṭaa;
[the] middle
وَقُومُواْ
wa-q̣oomoo
and stand up
لِلَّهِ
lillaahi
for Allah
قَٰنِتِينَ
q̣aaniteen.
devoutly obedient
٢٣٨
2:239
فَإِنۡ
Faʹin
And if
خِفۡتُمۡ
khiftum
you fear
فَرِجَالًا
farijaalan
then (pray) on foot
أَوۡ
ʹaw
or
رُكۡبَانٗاۖ
rukbaanaa.
riding
فَإِذَآ
Faʹiẓaaa
Then when
أَمِنتُمۡ
ʹamiñtum
you are secure
فَٱذۡكُرُواْ
faẓkurul
then remember
ٱللَّهَ
laaha
Allah

He (has) taught you
مَّا

لَمۡ

تَكُونُواْ
takoonoo
you were
تَعۡلَمُونَ
taʻlamoon.
knowing
٢٣٩
2:240
وَٱلَّذِينَ
Wallaẓeena
And those who
يُتَوَفَّوۡنَ
yutawaffawna
die
مِنكُمۡ
miñkum
among you
وَيَذَرُونَ
wa-yaẓaroona
and leave behind
أَزۡوَٰجٗا
ʹazwaajañw
(their) wives
وَصِيَّةٗ
waṣiyyatal
(should make) a will
لِّأَزۡوَٰجِهِم
liʹazwaajihim
for their wives
مَّتَٰعًا
mataaʻan
provision
إِلَى
ʹilal
for
ٱلۡحَوۡلِ
ḥawli
the year
غَيۡرَ
g̣ayra
without
إِخۡرَاجٖۚ
ʹikhraaj.
driving (them) out
فَإِنۡ
Faʹin
But if
خَرَجۡنَ
kharajna
they leave
فَلَا
falaa
then no
جُنَاحَ
junaaḥa
blame
عَلَيۡكُمۡ
ʻalaykum
upon you
فِي
Fee
in
مَا
maa-
what
فَعَلۡنَ
faʻalna
they do
فِيٓ
feee
concerning
أَنفُسِهِنَّ
ʹañfusihinna
themselves
مِن
mim
[of]
مَّعۡرُوفٖۗ
maʻroof.
honorably
وَٱللَّهُ
Wal-laahu
And Allah
عَزِيزٌ
ʻAzeezun
(is) All-Mighty
حَكِيمٞ
Ḥakeem.
All-Wise
٢٤٠
2:241
وَلِلۡمُطَلَّقَٰتِ
Wa-lilmuṭallaq̣aati
And for the divorced women
مَتَٰعُۢ
mataaʻum
(is) a provision
بِٱلۡمَعۡرُوفِۖ
bil-maʻroof.
in a fair manner
حَقًّا
Ḥaq̣q̣an
a duty
عَلَى
ʻalal
upon
ٱلۡمُتَّقِينَ
Muttaq̣een.
the righteous
٢٤١
2:242
كَذَٰلِكَ
Kaẓalika
Thus
يُبَيِّنُ
yubayyinul
makes clear
ٱللَّهُ
laahu
Allah
لَكُمۡ
lakum
for you
ءَايَٰتِهِۦ
ʹAayaatihee
His Verses
لَعَلَّكُمۡ
laʻallakum
so that you may
تَعۡقِلُونَ
taʻq̣iloon.
use your intellect
٢٤٢
2:243
۞أَلَمۡ
ʹAlam
Did not
تَرَ
tara
you see
إِلَى
ʹilal
[to]
ٱلَّذِينَ
laẓeena
those who
خَرَجُواْ
kharajoo
went out
مِن
miñ
from
دِيَٰرِهِمۡ
diyaarihim
their homes
وَهُمۡ
wa-hum
and they
أُلُوفٌ
ʹuloofun
(were in) thousands
حَذَرَ
ḥaẓaral
(in) fear
ٱلۡمَوۡتِ
mawti
(of) [the] death
فَقَالَ
faq̣aala
Then said
لَهُمُ
lahumul
to them
ٱللَّهُ
laahu
Allah
مُوتُواْ
mootoo:
Die
ثُمَّ
s̤umma
then
أَحۡيَٰهُمۡۚ
ʹaḥyaahum.
He restored them to life
إِنَّ
ʹInnal
Indeed
ٱللَّهَ
laaha
Allah
لَذُو
la-Ẓoo
(is) surely Possessor
فَضۡلٍ
Faḍlin
(of) bounty
عَلَى
ʻalan
for
ٱلنَّاسِ
naasi
[the] mankind
وَلَٰكِنَّ
wa-lakinna
[and] but
أَكۡثَرَ
ʹaks̤aran
most
ٱلنَّاسِ
naasi
(of) the people
لَا
laa-
(are) not
يَشۡكُرُونَ
yashkuroon.
grateful
٢٤٣
2:244
وَقَٰتِلُواْ
Waq̣aatiloo
And fight
فِي
fee
in
سَبِيلِ
sabeelil
(the) way
ٱللَّهِ
laahi
(of) Allah
وَٱعۡلَمُوٓاْ
waʻlamoo
and know
أَنَّ
ʹannal
that
ٱللَّهَ
laaha
Allah
سَمِيعٌ
Sameeʻun
(is) All-Hearing
عَلِيمٞ
ʻAleem.
All-Knowing
٢٤٤
2:245
مَّن
Mañ
Who
ذَا
ẓal
(is) the one
ٱلَّذِي
laẓee
who
يُقۡرِضُ
yuq̣riḍul
will lend
ٱللَّهَ
laaha
(to) Allah
قَرۡضًا
Q̣arḍan
a loan
حَسَنٗا
Ḥasanañ
good
فَيُضَٰعِفَهُۥ
fayuḍaaʻifahoo
so (that) He multiplies it
لَهُۥٓ
lahooo
for him
أَضۡعَافٗا
ʹaḍʻaafañ
manifolds
كَثِيرَةٗۚ
kas̤eerah?
many
وَٱللَّهُ
Wallaahu
And Allah
يَقۡبِضُ
yaq̣biḍu
withholds
وَيَبۡصُۜطُ
wa-yabṣuṭ.
and grants abundance
وَإِلَيۡهِ
Wa-ʹilayhi
and to Him
تُرۡجَعُونَ
turjaʻoon.
you will be returned

أَلَمۡ
ʹAlam
Did not
تَرَ
tara
you see
إِلَى
ʹilal
[towards]
ٱلۡمَلَإِ
malaʹi
the chiefs
مِنۢ
mim
of
بَنِيٓ
Baneee
(the) Children
إِسۡرَٰٓءِيلَ
ʹIsraaaʹeela
(of) Israel
مِنۢ
mim
from
بَعۡدِ
baʻdi
after
مُوسَىٰٓ
Moosa?
Musa
إِذۡ
ʹIẓ
when
قَالُواْ
q̣aaloo
they said
لِنَبِيّٖ
linabiyyil
to a Prophet
لَّهُمُ
lahumub
of theirs
ٱبۡعَثۡ
ʻas̤
Appoint
لَنَا
lanaa
for us
مَلِكٗا
Malikan
a king
نُّقَٰتِلۡ
nuq̣aatil
we may fight
فِي
fee
in
سَبِيلِ
Sabeelil
(the) way
ٱللَّهِۖ
laah.
(of) Allah
قَالَ
Q̣aala
He said
هَلۡ
hal
Would
عَسَيۡتُمۡ
ʻasaytum
you perhaps
إِن
ʹiñ
if
كُتِبَ
kutiba
prescribed
عَلَيۡكُمُ
ʻalaykumul
upon you
ٱلۡقِتَالُ
q̣itaalu
[the] fighting
أَلَّا
ʹallaa
that not
تُقَٰتِلُواْۖ
tuq̣aatiloo?
you fight
قَالُواْ
Q̣aaloo
They said
وَمَا
wa-maa
And what
لَنَآ
lanaaa
for us
أَلَّا
ʹallaa
that not
نُقَٰتِلَ
nuq̣aatila
we fight
فِي
fee
in
سَبِيلِ
Sabeelil
(the) way
ٱللَّهِ
laahi
(of) Allah
وَقَدۡ
wa-q̣ad
while surely
أُخۡرِجۡنَا
ʹukhrijnaa
we have been driven
مِن
miñ
from
دِيَٰرِنَا
diyaarinna
our homes
وَأَبۡنَآئِنَاۖ
wa-ʹabnaaaʹinaa?
and our children
فَلَمَّا
Falammaa
Yet when
كُتِبَ
kutiba
was prescribed
عَلَيۡهِمُ
ʻalayhimul
upon them
ٱلۡقِتَالُ
q̣itaalu
the fighting
تَوَلَّوۡاْ
tawallaw
they turned away
إِلَّا
ʹillaa
except
قَلِيلٗا
q̣aleelam
a few
مِّنۡهُمۡۚ
minhum.
among them
وَٱللَّهُ
Wallaahu
And Allah
عَلِيمُۢ
ʻAleemum
(is) All-Knowing
بِٱلظَّٰلِمِينَ
biz̤̣z̤̣aalimeen.
of the wrongdoers
٢٤٦
2:247
وَقَالَ
Wa-q̣aala
And said
لَهُمۡ
lahum
to them
نَبِيُّهُمۡ
Nabiyyuhum
their Prophet
إِنَّ
ʹinnal
Indeed
ٱللَّهَ
laaha
Allah
قَدۡ
q̣ad
(has) surely
بَعَثَ
baʻas̤a
raised
لَكُمۡ
lakum
for you
طَالُوتَ
Ṭaaloota
Talut
مَلِكٗاۚ
Malikaa.
(as) a king
قَالُوٓاْ
Q̣aalooo
They said
أَنَّىٰ
ʹannaa
How
يَكُونُ
yakoonu
can be
لَهُ
lahul
for him
ٱلۡمُلۡكُ
mulku
the kingship
عَلَيۡنَا
ʻalaynaa
over us
وَنَحۡنُ
wa-naḥnu
while we
أَحَقُّ
ʹaḥaq̣q̣u
(are) more entitled
بِٱلۡمُلۡكِ
bilmulki
to kingship
مِنۡهُ
minhu
than him
وَلَمۡ
wa-lam
and not
يُؤۡتَ
yuʹta
he has been given
سَعَةٗ
saʻatam
abundance
مِّنَ
minal
of
ٱلۡمَالِۚ
maal?
[the] wealth
قَالَ
Q̣aala
He said
إِنَّ
ʹinnal
Indeed
ٱللَّهَ
laahaṣ
Allah
ٱصۡطَفَىٰهُ
ṭafaahu
has chosen him
عَلَيۡكُمۡ
ʻalaykum
over you
وَزَادَهُۥ
wa-zaadahoo
and increased him
بَسۡطَةٗ
basṭatañ
abundantly
فِي
fil
in
ٱلۡعِلۡمِ
ʻilmi
[the] knowledge
وَٱلۡجِسۡمِۖ
waljism.
and [the] physique
وَٱللَّهُ
Wallaahu
And Allah
يُؤۡتِي
yuʹtee
gives
مُلۡكَهُۥ
mulkahoo
His kingdom
مَن
mañy
(to) whom
يَشَآءُۚ
yashaaaʹ.
He wills
وَٱللَّهُ
Wallaahu
And Allah
وَٰسِعٌ
Waasiʻun
(is) All-Encompassing
عَلِيمٞ
ʻAleem.
All-Knowing
٢٤٧
2:248
وَقَالَ
Wa-q̣aala
And said
لَهُمۡ
lahum
to them
نَبِيُّهُمۡ
Nabiyyuhum
their Prophet
إِنَّ
ʹinna
Indeed
ءَايَةَ
ʹaayata
a sign
مُلۡكِهِۦٓ
Mulkiheee
(of) his kingship
أَن
ʹañy
(is) that
يَأۡتِيَكُمُ
yaʹtiyakumut
will come to you
ٱلتَّابُوتُ
Taabootu
the ark
فِيهِ
feehi
in it
سَكِينَةٞ
sakeenatum
(is) tranquility
مِّن
mir
from
رَّبِّكُمۡ
Rabbikum
your Lord
وَبَقِيَّةٞ
wa-baq̣iyyatum
and a remnant
مِّمَّا
mimmaa
of what
تَرَكَ
taraka
(was) left
ءَالُ
ʹAalu
(by the) family
مُوسَىٰ
Moosaa
(of) Musa
وَءَالُ
wa-ʹAalu
and family
هَٰرُونَ
Haaroona
(of) Harun
تَحۡمِلُهُ
taḥmiluhul
will carry it
ٱلۡمَلَٰٓئِكَةُۚ
malaaaʹikah.
the Angels
إِنَّ
ʹInna
Indeed
فِي
fee
in
ذَٰلِكَ
ẓaalika
that
لَأٓيَةٗ
laʹaayatal
(is) surely a sign
لَّكُمۡ
lakum
for you
إِن
ʹiñ
if
كُنتُم
kuñtum
you are
مُّؤۡمِنِينَ
Muʹmineen.
believers

فَلَمَّا
Falammaa
Then when
فَصَلَ
faṣala
set out
طَالُوتُ
Ṭaalootu
Talut
بِٱلۡجُنُودِ
biljunoodi
with the forces
قَالَ
q̣aala
he said
إِنَّ
ʹinnal
Indeed
ٱللَّهَ
laaha
Allah
مُبۡتَلِيكُم
mub-taleekum̃
will test you
بِنَهَرٖ
binahr.
with a river
فَمَن
Famañ
So whoever
شَرِبَ
shariba
drinks
مِنۡهُ
minhu
from it
فَلَيۡسَ
falaysa
then he is not
مِنِّي
minnee:
from me
وَمَن
Wa-mal
and whoever
لَّمۡ
lam
(does) not
يَطۡعَمۡهُ
yaṭʻamhu
taste it
فَإِنَّهُۥ
faʹinnahoo
then indeed he
مِنِّيٓ
minneee
(is) from me
إِلَّا
ʹillaa
except
مَنِ
manig̣h
whoever
ٱغۡتَرَفَ
tarafa
takes
غُرۡفَةَۢ
g̣urfatam
(in the) hollow
بِيَدِهِۦۚ
biyadih.
(of) his hand
فَشَرِبُواْ
Fashariboo
Then they drank
مِنۡهُ
minhu
from it
إِلَّا
ʹillaa
except
قَلِيلٗا
q̣aleelam
a few
مِّنۡهُمۡۚ
minhum.
of them
فَلَمَّا
Falammaa
Then when
جَاوَزَهُۥ
jaawazahoo
he crossed it
هُوَ
huwa
he
وَٱلَّذِينَ
wallaẓeena
and those who
ءَامَنُواْ
ʹaamanoo
believed
مَعَهُۥ
maʻahoo
with him
قَالُواْ
q̣aaloo
they said
لَا
laa-
No
طَاقَةَ
ṭaaq̣ata
strength
لَنَا
lanal
for us
ٱلۡيَوۡمَ
Yawma
today
بِجَالُوتَ
bi-Jaaloota
against Jalut
وَجُنُودِهِۦۚ
wa-junoodih.
and his troops
قَالَ
Q̣aalal
Said
ٱلَّذِينَ
laẓeena
those who
يَظُنُّونَ
ya-Z̤̣unnoona
were certain
أَنَّهُم
ʹannahum
that they
مُّلَٰقُواْ
mulaaq̣ul
(would) meet
ٱللَّهِ
laahi
Allah
كَم
kam
How many
مِّن
miñ
of
فِئَةٖ
fiʹatiñ
a company
قَلِيلَةٍ
q̣aleelatin
small
غَلَبَتۡ
g̣halabat
overcame
فِئَةٗ
fiʹatañ
a company
كَثِيرَةَۢ
kas̤eeratam
large
بِإِذۡنِ
biʹiẓnil
by (the) permission
ٱللَّهِۗ
laah?
(of) Allah
وَٱللَّهُ
Wallaahu
And Allah
مَعَ
maʻaṣ
(is) with
ٱلصَّٰبِرِينَ
Ṣaabireen.
the patient ones
٢٤٩
2:250
وَلَمَّا
Wa-lammaa
And when
بَرَزُواْ
barazoo
they went forth
لِجَالُوتَ
li-Jaaloota
to (face) Jalut
وَجُنُودِهِۦ
wa-junoodihee
and his troops
قَالُواْ
q̣aaloo
they said
رَبَّنَآ
Rabbanaaa
Our Lord
أَفۡرِغۡ
ʹafrig̣h
Pour
عَلَيۡنَا
ʻalaynaa
on us
صَبۡرٗا
ṣabrañw
patience
وَثَبِّتۡ
was̤abbit
and make firm
أَقۡدَامَنَا
ʹaq̣daamanaa
our feet
وَٱنصُرۡنَا
wañs̤urnaa
and help us
عَلَى
ʻalal
against
ٱلۡقَوۡمِ
Q̣awmil
the people
ٱلۡكَٰفِرِينَ
kaafireen.
(who are) disbelieving
٢٥٠
