2:2ذَٰلِكَẒaalikalThatٱلۡكِتَٰبُKitaabu(is) the bookلَاlaa -noرَيۡبَۛraybadoubtفِيهِۛfeeh.in itهُدٗىHudala Guidanceلِّلۡمُتَّقِينَlil-Muttaq̣een;for the God-conscious٢
2:3ٱلَّذِينَʹAllaẓeenaThose whoيُؤۡمِنُونَyuʹminoonabelieveبِٱلۡغَيۡبِbil-G̣aybiin the unseenوَيُقِيمُونَwa-yuq̣eemoonaṣand establishٱلصَّلَوٰةَṢalaatathe prayerوَمِمَّاwa-mimmaaand out of whatرَزَقۡنَٰهُمۡrazaq̣naahumWe have provided themيُنفِقُونَyuñfiq̣oon;they spend٣
2:4وَٱلَّذِينَWallaẓeenaAnd those whoيُؤۡمِنُونَyuʹminoonabelieveبِمَآbimaaain whatأُنزِلَʹuñzila(is) sent downإِلَيۡكَʹilaykato youوَمَآwa-maaaand whatأُنزِلَʹuñzilawas sent downمِنmiñfromقَبۡلِكَq̣ablik,before youوَبِٱلۡأٓخِرَةِwa-bilʹAakhiratiand in the Hereafterهُمۡhumtheyيُوقِنُونَyooq̣inoon.firmly believe٤
2:5أُوْلَٰٓئِكَʹUlaaaʹikaThoseعَلَىٰʻalaa(are) onهُدٗىHudamGuidanceمِّنmirfromرَّبِّهِمۡۖRabbihim,their Lordوَأُوْلَٰٓئِكَwa-ʹulaaaʹikaand those هُمُhumultheyٱلۡمُفۡلِحُونَMufliḥoon.(are) the successful ones٥
2:6إِنَّʹInnalIndeedٱلَّذِينَlaẓeenathose whoكَفَرُواْKafaroodisbelieve[d]سَوَآءٌsawaaaʹun(it) is sameعَلَيۡهِمۡʻalayhimto themءَأَنذَرۡتَهُمۡʹaʹañẓartahumwhether you warn themأَمۡʹamorلَمۡlamnotتُنذِرۡهُمۡtuñẓirhumyou warn themلَاlaa notيُؤۡمِنُونَyuʹminoon.they believe٦
2:7خَتَمَKhatamalHas set a sealٱللَّهُlaahuAllahعَلَىٰʻalaaonقُلُوبِهِمۡq̣uloobihimtheir heartsوَعَلَىٰwa-ʻalaaand onسَمۡعِهِمۡۖsamʻihim,their hearingوَعَلَىٰٓwa-ʻalaaaand onأَبۡصَٰرِهِمۡʹabṣaarihimtheir visionغِشَٰوَةٞۖg̣ishaawah;(is) a veilوَلَهُمۡwa-lahumAnd for themعَذَابٌʻaẓaabun(is) a punishmentعَظِيمٞʻaz̤̣eem.great٧
2:8وَمِنَWa-minanAnd ofٱلنَّاسِnaasithe peopleمَنmañy(are some) whoيَقُولُyaq̣oolusayءَامَنَّاʹaamannaaWe believedبِٱللَّهِbillaahiin Allahوَبِٱلۡيَوۡمِwa-bil-Yawmiland in the DayٱلۡأٓخِرِʹAakhiri[the] Lastوَمَاwa-maa but notهُمhum̃theyبِمُؤۡمِنِينَbimuʹmineen.(are) believers (at all)٨
2:9يُخَٰدِعُونَYukhaadiʻoonalThey seek to deceiveٱللَّهَlaahaAllahوَٱلَّذِينَwallaẓeenaand those whoءَامَنُواْʹaamanoo:believe[d]وَمَاwa-maaand notيَخۡدَعُونَYakhdaʻoonathey deceiveإِلَّآʹillaaaexceptأَنفُسَهُمۡʹañfusahumthemselvesوَمَاwa-maaand notيَشۡعُرُونَyashʻuroon.they realize (it)٩
2:10فِيFeeInقُلُوبِهِمq̣uloobihimtheir heartsمَّرَضٞmaraḍuñ(is) a diseaseفَزَادَهُمُfazaadahumulso has increased themٱللَّهُlaahuAllahمَرَضٗاۖMaraḍaa.(in) diseaseوَلَهُمۡWa-lahumand for themعَذَابٌʻaẓaabun(is) a punishmentأَلِيمُۢʹaleemum̃painfulبِمَاbimaabecauseكَانُواْKaanoothey used toيَكۡذِبُونَYakẓiboon.[they] lie١٠
2:11وَإِذَاWa-ʹiẓaaAnd whenقِيلَq̣eelait is saidلَهُمۡlahumto themلَاlaa-(Do) notتُفۡسِدُواْtufsidoospread corruptionفِيfilinٱلۡأَرۡضِʹarḍithe earthقَالُوٓاْq̣aalooothey sayإِنَّمَاʹinnamaaOnlyنَحۡنُnaḥnuweمُصۡلِحُونَmuṣliḥoon.(are) reformers١١
2:12أَلَآʹAlaaaBewareإِنَّهُمۡʹinnahumindeed theyهُمُhumulthemselvesٱلۡمُفۡسِدُونَmufsidoona(are) the ones who spread corruptionوَلَٰكِنwa-laakil[and] butلَّاlaanotيَشۡعُرُونَyashʻuroon.they realize (it)١٢
2:13وَإِذَاWa-ʹiẓaaAnd whenقِيلَq̣eelait is saidلَهُمۡlahumto themءَامِنُواْʹaaminooBelieveكَمَآkamaaaasءَامَنَʹaamananbelievedٱلنَّاسُnaasuthe peopleقَالُوٓاْq̣aalooothey sayأَنُؤۡمِنُʹanuʹminuShould we believeكَمَآkamaaaasءَامَنَʹaamanasbelievedٱلسُّفَهَآءُۗsufahaaaʹ?the foolsأَلَآʹAlaaaBewareإِنَّهُمۡʹinnahumcertainly theyهُمُhumusthemselvesٱلسُّفَهَآءُsufahaaaʹu(are) the foolsوَلَٰكِنwa-laakil[and] butلَّاlaanotيَعۡلَمُونَyaʻlamoon.they know١٣
2:14وَإِذَاWa-ʹiẓaaAnd whenلَقُواْlaq̣ulthey meetٱلَّذِينَlaẓeenathose whoءَامَنُواْʹaamanoobelieve[d]قَالُوٓاْq̣aalooothey sayءَامَنَّاʹaamannaa,We believe[d]وَإِذَاwa-ʹiẓaaBut whenخَلَوۡاْKhalawthey are aloneإِلَىٰʹilaawithشَيَٰطِينِهِمۡShayaaṭeenihimtheir evil onesقَالُوٓاْq̣aalooothey sayإِنَّاʹinnaaIndeed weمَعَكُمۡmaʻakum(are) with youإِنَّمَاʹinnamaaonlyنَحۡنُnaḥnuweمُسۡتَهۡزِءُونَmustahziʹoon.(are) mockers١٤
2:15ٱللَّهُʹAllaahuAllahيَسۡتَهۡزِئُyastahziʹumocksبِهِمۡbihimat themوَيَمُدُّهُمۡwa-yamudduhumand prolongs themفِيfeeinطُغۡيَٰنِهِمۡṭug̣yaanihimtheir transgressionيَعۡمَهُونَyaʻmahoon.they wander blindly١٥
2:16أُوْلَٰٓئِكَʹUlaaaʹikalThoseٱلَّذِينَlaẓeenash(are) the ones whoٱشۡتَرَوُاْtarawuḍboughtٱلضَّلَٰلَةَḍalaalata[the] astrayingبِٱلۡهُدَىٰbilhudaa:for [the] guidanceفَمَاfamaaSo notرَبِحَتRabiḥatprofitedتِّجَٰرَتُهُمۡtijaaratuhumtheir commerceوَمَاwa-maaand notكَانُواْKaanoowere theyمُهۡتَدِينَMuhtadeen.guided-ones١٦
2:17مَثَلُهُمۡMas̤aluhumTheir exampleكَمَثَلِKamas̤alil(is) like (the) exampleٱلَّذِيlaẓis(of) the one whoٱسۡتَوۡقَدَtawq̣adakindledنَارٗاNaaraa;a fireفَلَمَّآfalammaaathen whenأَضَآءَتۡʹaḍaaaʹatit illuminatedمَاmaa-whatحَوۡلَهُۥḥawlahoo(was) around himذَهَبَẓahabaltook awayٱللَّهُlaahuAllahبِنُورِهِمۡbinoorihimtheir lightوَتَرَكَهُمۡwa-tarakahumand left themفِيfeeinظُلُمَٰتٖz̤̣ulumaatildarkness[es]لَّاlaa(so) notيُبۡصِرُونَYubṣiroon.(do) they see١٧
2:18صُمُّۢṢummumDeafبُكۡمٌbukmundumbعُمۡيٞʻumyuñblindفَهُمۡfahumso theyلَاlaa-notيَرۡجِعُونَyarjiʻoon.[they] will not return١٨
2:19أَوۡʹAwOrكَصَيِّبٖkaṣayyibimlike a rainstormمِّنَminasfromٱلسَّمَآءِsamaaaʹithe skyفِيهِfeehiin it (are)ظُلُمَٰتٞz̤̣ulumaatuñwdarkness[es]وَرَعۡدٞwa-raʻduñwand thunderوَبَرۡقٞwa-barq̣:and lightningيَجۡعَلُونَyajʻaloonaThey putأَصَٰبِعَهُمۡʹaṣaabiʻahumtheir fingersفِيٓfeeeinءَاذَانِهِمʹaaẓaanihimtheir earsمِّنَminaṣfromٱلصَّوَٰعِقِṣawaaʻiq̣ithe thunderclapsحَذَرَḥaẓaral(in) fear (of)ٱلۡمَوۡتِۚmawt.[the] deathوَٱللَّهُWallaaḥuAnd AllahمُحِيطُۢMuḥeeṭum(is) [the One Who] encompassesبِٱلۡكَٰفِرِينَbilkaafireen.the disbelievers١٩
2:20يَكَادُYakaadulAlmostٱلۡبَرۡقُbarq̣uthe lightningيَخۡطَفُyakhṭafusnatches awayأَبۡصَٰرَهُمۡۖʹabṣaarahum:their sightكُلَّمَآkullamaaaWheneverأَضَآءَʹaḍaaaʹait flashesلَهُمlahumfor themمَّشَوۡاْmashawthey walkفِيهِfeehiin itوَإِذَآwa-ʹiẓaaaand whenأَظۡلَمَʹaz̤̣lamait darkensعَلَيۡهِمۡʻalayhimon themقَامُواْۚq̣aamoo.they stand (still)وَلَوۡWa-lawAnd ifشَآءَshaaaʹalhad willedٱللَّهُlaahuAllahلَذَهَبَlaẓahabaHe would certainly have taken awayبِسَمۡعِهِمۡbisamʻihimtheir hearingوَأَبۡصَٰرِهِمۡۚwa-ʹabṣaarihim;and their sightإِنَّʹinnalIndeedٱللَّهَlaahaAllahعَلَىٰʻalaa(is) onكُلِّkullieveryشَيۡءٖshayʹiñthingقَدِيرٞQ̣adeer.All-Powerful٢٠
2:21يَٰٓأَيُّهَاYaaaʹayyuhanOٱلنَّاسُnaasuʻmankindٱعۡبُدُواْbudoo.worshipرَبَّكُمُRabbakumulyour Lordٱلَّذِيlaẓeethe One Whoخَلَقَكُمۡkhalaq̣akumcreated youوَٱلَّذِينَwallazeenaand thoseمِنmiñfromقَبۡلِكُمۡq̣ablikumbefore youلَعَلَّكُمۡlaʻallakumso that you mayتَتَّقُونَtattaq̣oon.become righteous٢١
2:22ٱلَّذِيAllaẓeeThe One Whoجَعَلَjaʻalamadeلَكُمُlakumulfor youٱلۡأَرۡضَʹarḍathe earthفِرَٰشٗاfiraashañwa resting placeوَٱلسَّمَآءَwas-samaaaʹaand the skyبِنَآءٗbinaaaʹaa:a canopyوَأَنزَلَwa-ʹañzalaand sent downمِنَminasfromٱلسَّمَآءِsamaaaʹithe skyمَآءٗmaaaañwaterفَأَخۡرَجَfaʹakhrajathen brought forthبِهِۦbiheetherewithمِنَminas̤[of]ٱلثَّمَرَٰتِs̤amaraatithe fruitsرِزۡقٗاrizq̣al(as) provisionلَّكُمۡۖlakum:for youفَلَاfalaaSo (do) notتَجۡعَلُواْtajʻalooset upلِلَّهِlillaahito Allahأَندَادٗاʹañdaadañwrivalsوَأَنتُمۡwa-ʹañtumwhile youتَعۡلَمُونَtaʻlamoon.[you] know٢٢
2:23وَإِنWa-iñAnd ifكُنتُمۡkuñtumyou areفِيfeeinرَيۡبٖraybimdoubtمِّمَّاmimmaaabout whatنَزَّلۡنَاnazzalnaaWe have revealedعَلَىٰʻalaatoعَبۡدِنَاʻAbdinaaOur slaveفَأۡتُواْfaʹtoothen produceبِسُورَةٖbi-Sooratima chapterمِّنmim[of]مِّثۡلِهِۦmis̤lih;like itوَٱدۡعُواْwadʻooand callشُهَدَآءَكُمshuhadaaaʹakumyour witnessesمِّنmiñfromدُونِdoonilother thanٱللَّهِlaahiAllahإِنʹiñifكُنتُمۡkuñtumyou areصَٰدِقِينَṣaadiq̣een.truthful٢٣
2:24فَإِنfaʹilBut ifلَّمۡlamnotتَفۡعَلُواْtafʻalooyou doوَلَنwa-lañand neverتَفۡعَلُواْtafʻaloowill you doفَٱتَّقُواْfattaq̣unthen fearٱلنَّارَNaaralthe Fireٱلَّتِيlateewhoseوَقُودُهَاwa-q̣ooduhan[its] fuelٱلنَّاسُnaasu(is) [the] menوَٱلۡحِجَارَةُۖwalḥijaaratuand [the] stonesأُعِدَّتۡʹuʻiddatpreparedلِلۡكَٰفِرِينَlil-Kaafireen.for the disbelievers٢٤
2:25وَبَشِّرِWa-bashshirilAnd give good newsٱلَّذِينَlaẓeena(to) those whoءَامَنُواْʹaamanoobelieveوَعَمِلُواْwa-ʻamiluṣand doٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِṢaaliḥaati[the] righteous deedsأَنَّʹannathatلَهُمۡlahumfor themجَنَّٰتٖjannaatiñ(will be) Gardensتَجۡرِيtajreeflowمِنmiñ[from]تَحۡتِهَاtaḥtihalunder themٱلۡأَنۡهَٰرُۖʹanhaar.the riversكُلَّمَاKullamaaEvery timeرُزِقُواْruziq̣oothey are providedمِنۡهَاminhaatherefromمِنmiñofثَمَرَةٖs̤amaratirfruitرِّزۡقٗاrizq̣añ(as) provisionقَالُواْq̣aaloothey (will) sayهَٰذَاhaaẓalThis (is)ٱلَّذِيlaẓeethe one whichرُزِقۡنَاruziq̣naawe were providedمِنmiñfromقَبۡلُۖq̣abl.beforeوَأُتُواْwa-ʹutooAnd they will be givenبِهِۦbiheetherefromمُتَشَٰبِهٗاۖmutashaabihaa.(things) in resemblanceوَلَهُمۡWa-lahumAnd for themفِيهَآfeehaaathereinأَزۡوَٰجٞʹazwaajumspousesمُّطَهَّرَةٞۖmuṭahharah;purifiedوَهُمۡwahumand theyفِيهَاfeehaathereinخَٰلِدُونَkhaalidoon.(will) abide forever٢٥
