We sent
فِيكُمۡ
feekum
among you
رَسُولٗا
Rasoolam
a Messenger
مِّنكُمۡ

from you
يَتۡلُواْ
yatloo
(who) recites
عَلَيۡكُمۡ
ʻalaykum
to you
ءَايَٰتِنَا
ʹAayaatinaa
Our verses
وَيُزَكِّيكُمۡ
wa-yuzakkikum
and purifies you
وَيُعَلِّمُكُمُ
wa-yuʻalli-mukumul
and teaches you
ٱلۡكِتَٰبَ
Kitaaba
the Book
وَٱلۡحِكۡمَةَ
wal-Ḥikmata
and the wisdom
وَيُعَلِّمُكُم
wa-yuʻAllimukum
and teaches you
مَّا
maa
what
لَمۡ
lam
not
تَكُونُواْ
takoonoo
you were
تَعۡلَمُونَ
taʻlamoon.
knowing
١٥١
2:152
فَٱذۡكُرُونِيٓ
Faẓkurooneee
So remember Me
أَذۡكُرۡكُمۡ
ʹaẓkurkum
I will remember you
وَٱشۡكُرُواْ
washkuroo
and be grateful
لِي
lee
to Me
وَلَا
wa-laa
and (do) not
تَكۡفُرُونِ
takfuroon.
(be) ungrateful to Me
١٥٢
2:153
يَٰٓأَيُّهَا
Yaaaʹayyuhal
O you
ٱلَّذِينَ
laẓeena
who
ءَامَنُواْ
ʹaamanus
believe[d]
ٱسۡتَعِينُواْ
taʻeenoo
Seek help
بِٱلصَّبۡرِ
biṣ-Ṣabri
through patience
وَٱلصَّلَوٰةِۚ
was-Ṣalaah;
and the prayer
إِنَّ
ʹInnal
Indeed
ٱللَّهَ
laaha
Allah
مَعَ
maʻaṣ
(is) with
ٱلصَّٰبِرِينَ
ṣaabreeen.
the patient ones
١٥٣

2:154
وَلَا
Wa-laa
And (do) not
تَقُولُواْ
taq̣ooloo
say
لِمَن
limañy
for (the ones) who
يُقۡتَلُ
yuq̣talu
are slain
فِي
fee
in
سَبِيلِ
Sabeelil
(the) way
ٱللَّهِ
laahi
(of) Allah
أَمۡوَٰتُۢۚ
ʹamwaat.
(They are) dead
بَلۡ
Bal
Nay
أَحۡيَآءٞ
ʹaḥyaaaʹuñw
(they are) alive
وَلَٰكِن
Wa laakil
[and] but
لَّا
laa
you (do) not
تَشۡعُرُونَ
tashʻuroon
perceive
١٥٤
2:155
وَلَنَبۡلُوَنَّكُم
Wa-lanablu-wannakum̃
And surely We will test you
بِشَيۡءٖ
bishayʹim
with something
مِّنَ
minal
of
ٱلۡخَوۡفِ
khawfi
[the] fear
وَٱلۡجُوعِ
waljooʻi
and [the] hunger
وَنَقۡصٖ
wa-naq̣ṣim
and loss
مِّنَ
minal
of
ٱلۡأَمۡوَٰلِ
ʹamwaali
[the] wealth
وَٱلۡأَنفُسِ
wal-ʹañfusi
and [the] lives
وَٱلثَّمَرَٰتِۗ
was̤-s̤amaraat:
and [the] fruits
وَبَشِّرِ
wa-bashshiris̤
but give good news
ٱلصَّٰبِرِينَ
S̤aabireen,
(to) the patient ones
١٥٥
2:156
ٱلَّذِينَ
ʹAllaẓeena
Those who
إِذَآ
ʹiẓaaa
when
أَصَٰبَتۡهُم
ʹaṣaabathum
strikes them
مُّصِيبَةٞ
muṣeebatuñ
a misfortune
قَالُوٓاْ
q̣alooo
they say
إِنَّا
ʹinnaa
Indeed we
لِلَّهِ
lillaahi
belong to Allah
وَإِنَّآ
wa-ʹinnaaa
and indeed we
إِلَيۡهِ
ʹilayhi
towards Him
رَٰجِعُونَ
raajiʻoon.
will return
١٥٦
2:157
أُوْلَٰٓئِكَ
ʹUlaaaʻika
Those
عَلَيۡهِمۡ
ʻalayhim
on them
صَلَوَٰتٞ
ṣalawaatum
(are) blessings
مِّن
mir
from
رَّبِّهِمۡ
Rabbihim
their Lord
وَرَحۡمَةٞۖ
wa-raḥmah:
and Mercy
وَأُوْلَٰٓئِكَ
wa-ʹulaaaʹika
And those
هُمُ
humul
[they]
ٱلۡمُهۡتَدُونَ
Muhtadoon.
(are) the guided ones
١٥٧
2:158
۞إِنَّ
ʹInnaṣ
Indeed
ٱلصَّفَا
S̤afaa
the Safa
وَٱلۡمَرۡوَةَ
wal-Marwata
and the Marwah
مِن
miñ
(are) from
شَعَآئِرِ
Shaʻaaʹiril
(the) symbols
ٱللَّهِۖ
laah.
(of) Allah
فَمَنۡ
Faman
So whoever
حَجَّ
ḥajjal
performs Hajj
ٱلۡبَيۡتَ
Bayta
(of) the House
أَوِ
ʹawiʻ
or
ٱعۡتَمَرَ
tamara
performs Umrah
فَلَا
falaa
so no
جُنَاحَ
Junaaḥa
blame
عَلَيۡهِ
ʻalayhi
on him
أَن
ʻany
that
يَطَّوَّفَ
yaṭṭawwafa
he walks
بِهِمَاۚ
bihimaa.
between [both of] them
وَمَن
Wa-mañ
And whoever
تَطَوَّعَ
taṭawwaʻa
voluntarily does
خَيۡرٗا
khayrañ
good
فَإِنَّ
faʹinnal
then indeed
ٱللَّهَ
laha
Allah
شَاكِرٌ
Shaakirun
(is) All-Appreciative
عَلِيمٌ
ʻAleem.
All-Knowing
١٥٨
2:159
إِنَّ
ʹInnal
Indeed
ٱلَّذِينَ
laẓeena
those who
يَكۡتُمُونَ
yaktumoona
conceal
مَآ
maaa
what
أَنزَلۡنَا
ʹañzalnaa
We revealed
مِنَ
minal
of
ٱلۡبَيِّنَٰتِ
bayyinaati
the clear proofs
وَٱلۡهُدَىٰ
walhudaa
and the Guidance
مِنۢ
mim
from
بَعۡدِ
baʻdi
after
مَا
maa-
[what]
بَيَّنَّٰهُ
bayyannaahu
We made clear
لِلنَّاسِ
linnaasi
to the people
فِي
fil
in
ٱلۡكِتَٰبِ
Kitaabi
the Book
أُوْلَٰٓئِكَ
ʹulaaaʹika
those
يَلۡعَنُهُمُ
yalʻanuhumul
curses them
ٱللَّهُ
laahu
Allah
وَيَلۡعَنُهُمُ
wa-yalʻanuhumul
and curse them
ٱللَّٰعِنُونَ
laa-ʻinoon,
the ones who curse
١٥٩
2:160
إِلَّا
ʹIllal
Except
ٱلَّذِينَ
laẓeena
those
تَابُواْ
taaboo
who repent[ed]
وَأَصۡلَحُواْ
wa-ʹaṣlaḥoo
and reform[ed]
وَبَيَّنُواْ
wa-bayyanoo
and openly declar[ed]
فَأُوْلَٰٓئِكَ
faʹulaaaʹika
Then those
أَتُوبُ
ʹatoobu
I will accept repentance
عَلَيۡهِمۡ
ʻalayhim;
from them
وَأَنَا
wa-ʹAnat
and I (am)
ٱلتَّوَّابُ
Tawwaabur
the Acceptor of Repentance
ٱلرَّحِيمُ
Raḥeem.
the Most Merciful
١٦٠
2:161
إِنَّ
ʹInnal
Indeed
ٱلَّذِينَ
laẓeena
those who
كَفَرُواْ
kafaroo
disbelieve[d]
وَمَاتُواْ
wa-maatoo
and die[d]
وَهُمۡ
wa-hum
while they
كُفَّارٌ
kuffaarun
(were) disbelievers
أُوْلَٰٓئِكَ
ʹulaaaʹika
those
عَلَيۡهِمۡ
ʻalayhim
on them
لَعۡنَةُ
laʻnatul
(is the) curse
ٱللَّهِ
laahi
(of) Allah
وَٱلۡمَلَٰٓئِكَةِ
walmalaaaʹikati
and the Angels
وَٱلنَّاسِ
wannaasi
and the mankind
أَجۡمَعِينَ
ʹajmaʻeen,
all together
١٦١
2:162
خَٰلِدِينَ
Khaalideena
(Will) abide forever
فِيهَا
feehaa:
in it
لَا
laa-
Not
يُخَفَّفُ
yukhaffafu
will be lightened
عَنۡهُمُ
ʻanhumul
for them
ٱلۡعَذَابُ
ʻaẓaabu
the punishment
وَلَا
wa-laa
and not
هُمۡ
hum
they
يُنظَرُونَ
yuñz̤̣aroon.
will be reprieved
١٦٢
2:163
وَإِلَٰهُكُمۡ
Wa-ʹIlaahukum
And your God
إِلَٰهٞ
Ilaahuñw
(is) God
وَٰحِدٞۖ
Waaḥid:
one (only)
لَّآ
Laaa
(there is) no
إِلَٰهَ
ʹilaaha
god
إِلَّا
ʹillaa
except
هُوَ
Huwar
Him
ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنُ
Raḥmaanur
the Most Gracious
ٱلرَّحِيمُ
Raḥeem.
the Most Merciful

2:164
إِنَّ
ʹInna
Indeed
فِي
fee
in
خَلۡقِ
khalq̣is
(the) creation
ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ
samaawaati
(of) the heavens
وَٱلۡأَرۡضِ
wal-ʹarḍi
and the earth
وَٱخۡتِلَٰفِ
Wakhtilaafil
and alternation
ٱلَّيۡلِ
layli
of the night
وَٱلنَّهَارِ
wannahaari
and the day
وَٱلۡفُلۡكِ
walfulkil
and the ships
ٱلَّتِي
latee
which
تَجۡرِي
tajree
sail
فِي
fil
in
ٱلۡبَحۡرِ
baḥri
the sea
بِمَا
bimaa
with what
يَنفَعُ
yañfaʻun
benefits
ٱلنَّاسَ
naasa
[the] people
وَمَآ
wa-maaa
and what
أَنزَلَ
ʻañzalal
(has) sent down
ٱللَّهُ
laahu
Allah
مِنَ
minas
from
ٱلسَّمَآءِ
samaaaʹi
the sky
مِن
mim
[of]
مَّآءٖ
maaaʹiñ
water
فَأَحۡيَا
faʹaḥyaa
giving life
بِهِ
bihil
thereby
ٱلۡأَرۡضَ
ʹarẓa
(to) the earth
بَعۡدَ
baʻda
after
مَوۡتِهَا
mawtihaa
its death
وَبَثَّ
wa-bas̤s̤a
and dispersing
فِيهَا
feehaa
therein
مِن
miñ
[of]
كُلِّ
kulli
every
دَآبَّةٖ
daabbah:
moving creature
وَتَصۡرِيفِ
wa-taṣreefir
and directing
ٱلرِّيَٰحِ
riyaaḥi
(of) the winds
وَٱلسَّحَابِ
was-saḥaabil
and the clouds
ٱلۡمُسَخَّرِ
musakhkhari
[the] controlled
بَيۡنَ
baynas
between
ٱلسَّمَآءِ
samaaaʹi
the sky
وَٱلۡأَرۡضِ
wal-ʹarḍi
and the earth
لَأٓيَٰتٖ
laʹAayaatil
surely (are) Signs
لِّقَوۡمٖ
liq̣awmiñy
for a people
يَعۡقِلُونَ
yaʻq̣iloon.
who use their intellect
١٦٤
2:165
وَمِنَ
Wa-minan
And among
ٱلنَّاسِ
naasi
the mankind
مَن
mañy
who
يَتَّخِذُ
yattakhiẓu
takes
مِن
miñ
from
دُونِ
doonil
besides
ٱللَّهِ
laahi
Allah
أَندَادٗا
ʹañdaadañy
equals
يُحِبُّونَهُمۡ
yuḥibboonahum
They love them
كَحُبِّ
kaḥubbil
as (they should) love
ٱللَّهِۖ
laah.
Allah
وَٱلَّذِينَ
Wallaẓeena
And those who
ءَامَنُوٓاْ
ʹaamanooo
believe[d]
أَشَدُّ
ʹashaddu
(are) stronger
حُبّٗا
ḥubbal
(in) love
لِّلَّهِۗ
lillaah.
for Allah
وَلَوۡ
Wa-law
And if
يَرَى
yaral
would see
ٱلَّذِينَ
laẓeena
those who
ظَلَمُوٓاْ
z̤̣alamooo
wronged
إِذۡ
ʹiẓ
when
يَرَوۡنَ
yarawnal
they will see
ٱلۡعَذَابَ
ʻaẓaaba
the punishment
أَنَّ
ʹannal
that
ٱلۡقُوَّةَ
Q̣uwwata
the power
لِلَّهِ
lillaahi
(belongs) to Allah
جَمِيعٗا
jameeʻañw
all
وَأَنَّ
waʹannal
and [that]
ٱللَّهَ
laaha
Allah
شَدِيدُ
Shadeedul
(is) severe
ٱلۡعَذَابِ
ʻaẓaab.
(in) [the] punishment
١٦٥
2:166
إِذۡ
ʹIẓ
When
تَبَرَّأَ
tabarraʹal
will disown
ٱلَّذِينَ
laẓeenat
those who
ٱتُّبِعُواْ
tubiʻoo
were followed
مِنَ
minal
[from]
ٱلَّذِينَ
laẓeenat
those who
ٱتَّبَعُواْ
tabaʻoo
followed
وَرَأَوُاْ
wa-raʹawul
and they will see
ٱلۡعَذَابَ
ʻaẓaaba
the punishment
وَتَقَطَّعَتۡ
wa-taq̣aṭṭaʻat
[and] will be cut off
بِهِمُ
bihimul
for them
ٱلۡأَسۡبَابُ
ʹasbaab.
the relations
١٦٦
2:167
وَقَالَ
Wa-q̣aalal
And said
ٱلَّذِينَ
laẓeenat
those who
ٱتَّبَعُواْ
tabaʻoo
followed
لَوۡ
law
(Only) if
أَنَّ
ʹanna
[that]
لَنَا
lanaa
for us
كَرَّةٗ
karratañ
a return
فَنَتَبَرَّأَ
fanatabarraʹa
then we will disown
مِنۡهُمۡ
minhum
[from] them
كَمَا
kamaa
as
تَبَرَّءُواْ
tabarraʹoo
they disown
مِنَّاۗ
minnaa.
[from] us
كَذَٰلِكَ
Kaẓaalika
Thus
يُرِيهِمُ
yureehimul
will show them
ٱللَّهُ
laahu
Allah
أَعۡمَٰلَهُمۡ
ʹaʻmaalahum
their deeds
حَسَرَٰتٍ
ḥasaraatin
(as) regrets
عَلَيۡهِمۡۖ
ʻalayhim.
for them
وَمَا
Wa-maa
And not
هُم
hum̃
they
بِخَٰرِجِينَ
bikhaarijeena
will come out
مِنَ
minan
from
ٱلنَّارِ
Naar.
the Fire
١٦٧
2:168
يَٰٓأَيُّهَا
Yaaaʹayyuhan
O
ٱلنَّاسُ
naasu
mankind
كُلُواْ
kuloo
Eat
مِمَّا
mimmaa
of what
فِي
fil
(is) in
ٱلۡأَرۡضِ
ʹarḍi
the earth
حَلَٰلٗا
Ḥalaalañ
lawful
طَيِّبٗا
ṭayyibaa;
(and) good
وَلَا
wa-laa
And (do) not
تَتَّبِعُواْ
tattabiʻoo
follow
خُطُوَٰتِ
Khuṭuwaatish
(the) footsteps (of)
ٱلشَّيۡطَٰنِۚ
Shayṭaan.
the Shaitaan
إِنَّهُۥ
ʹInnahoo
Indeed he
لَكُمۡ
lakum
(is) to you
عَدُوّٞ
ʻaduwwum
an enemy
مُّبِينٌ
mubeen.
clear
١٦٨
2:169
إِنَّمَا
ʹInnamaa
Only
يَأۡمُرُكُم
yaʹmurukum̃
he commands you
بِٱلسُّوٓءِ
bis-soooʹi
to (do) the evil
وَٱلۡفَحۡشَآءِ
walfaḥshaaaʹi
and the shameful
وَأَن
wa-ʹañ
and that
تَقُولُواْ
taq̣ooloo
you say
عَلَى
ʻalal
about
ٱللَّهِ
laahi
Allah
مَا
maa-
what
لَا
laa-
not
تَعۡلَمُونَ
taʻlamoon.
you know
١٦٩

وَإِذَا
Wa-ʹiẓaa
And when
قِيلَ
q̣eela
it is said
لَهُمُ
lahumut
to them
ٱتَّبِعُواْ
tabiʻoo
Follow
مَآ
maaa
what
أَنزَلَ
ʹañzalal
has revealed
ٱللَّهُ
laahu
Allah
قَالُواْ
q̣aaloo
they said
بَلۡ
bal
Nay
نَتَّبِعُ
nattabiʻu
we follow
مَآ
maaa
what
أَلۡفَيۡنَا
ʹalfaynaa
we found
عَلَيۡهِ
ʻalayhi
[on it]
ءَابَآءَنَآۚ
ʹaabaaaʹanaa.
our forefathers (following)
أَوَلَوۡ
ʹAwa-law
Even though
كَانَ
kaana
[were]
ءَابَآؤُهُمۡ
ʹaabaaaʹuhum
their forefathers
لَا
laa-
(did) not
يَعۡقِلُونَ
yaʻq̣iloona
understand
شَيۡـٔٗا
shayʹañw
anything
وَلَا
walaa
and not
يَهۡتَدُونَ
yahtadoon?
were they guided
١٧٠
2:171
وَمَثَلُ
Wa-mas̤alul
And (the) example
ٱلَّذِينَ
laẓeena
(of) those who
كَفَرُواْ
kafaroo
disbelieve[d]
كَمَثَلِ
kamas̤alil
(is) like (the) example
ٱلَّذِي
laẓee
(of) the one who
يَنۡعِقُ
yanʻiq̣u
shouts
بِمَا
bimaa
at what
لَا
laa-
not
يَسۡمَعُ
yasmaʻu
(does) hear
إِلَّا
ʹillaa
except
دُعَآءٗ
duʻaaaʹañw
calls
وَنِدَآءٗۚ
wanidaaaʹaa.
and cries
صُمُّۢ
S̤ummum̃
deaf
بُكۡمٌ
bukmun
dumb
عُمۡيٞ
ʻumyuñ
(and) blind
فَهُمۡ
fahum
[so] they
لَا
laa-
(do) not
يَعۡقِلُونَ
yaʻq̣iloon.
understand
١٧١
2:172
يَٰٓأَيُّهَا
Yaaaʹayyuhal
O you
ٱلَّذِينَ
laẓeena
who
ءَامَنُواْ
ʹaamanoo
believe[d]
كُلُواْ
kuloo
Eat
مِن
miñ
from
طَيِّبَٰتِ
ṭayyibaati
(the) good
مَا
maa-
(of) what
رَزَقۡنَٰكُمۡ
razaq̣naakum
We have provided you
وَٱشۡكُرُواْ
washkuroo
and be grateful
لِلَّهِ
lillahi
to Allah
إِن
ʹiñ
if
كُنتُمۡ
kuñtum
you
إِيَّاهُ
ʹiyyaahu
alone
تَعۡبُدُونَ
taʻbudoon.
worship Him
١٧٢
2:173
إِنَّمَا
ʹInnamaa
Only
حَرَّمَ
ḥarrama
He has forbidden
عَلَيۡكُمُ
ʻalaykumul
to you
ٱلۡمَيۡتَةَ
maytata
the dead animals
وَٱلدَّمَ
waddama
and [the] blood
وَلَحۡمَ
wa-laḥmal
and flesh
ٱلۡخِنزِيرِ
khiñzeeri
(of) swine
وَمَآ
wa-maaa
and what
أُهِلَّ
ʹuhilla
has been dedicated
بِهِۦ
bihee
[with it]
لِغَيۡرِ
lig̣ayril
to other than
ٱللَّهِۖ
laah.
Allah
فَمَنِ
Famaniḍ
So whoever
ٱضۡطُرَّ
ṭurra
(is) forced by necessity
غَيۡرَ
g̣ayra
without
بَاغٖ
baag̣iñw
(being) disobedient
وَلَا
walaa
and not
عَادٖ
ʻaadiñ
transgressor
فَلَآ
falaaa
then no
إِثۡمَ
ʹis̤ma
sin
عَلَيۡهِۚ
ʻalayh.
on him
إِنَّ
ʹInnal
Indeed
ٱللَّهَ
laaha
Allah
غَفُورٞ
G̣afoorur
(is) Oft-Forgiving
رَّحِيمٌ
Raḥeem.
Most Merciful
١٧٣
2:174
إِنَّ
ʹInnal
Indeed
ٱلَّذِينَ
laẓeeena
those who
يَكۡتُمُونَ
yaktumoona
conceal
مَآ
maaa
what
أَنزَلَ
ʹañzalal
(has) revealed
ٱللَّهُ
laahu
Allah (has)
مِنَ
minal
of
ٱلۡكِتَٰبِ
Kitaabi
the Book
وَيَشۡتَرُونَ
wa-yashtaroona
and they purchase
بِهِۦ
bihee
there with
ثَمَنٗا
s̤amanañ
a gain
قَلِيلًا
q̣aleelan
little
أُوْلَٰٓئِكَ
ʹulaaaʹika
Those
مَا
maa-
not
يَأۡكُلُونَ
yaʹkuloona
they eat
فِي
fee
in
بُطُونِهِمۡ
buṭoonihim
their bellies
إِلَّا
illan
except
ٱلنَّارَ
Naara
the Fire
وَلَا
wa-laa
And not
يُكَلِّمُهُمُ
yukallimuhumul
will speak to them
ٱللَّهُ
laahu
Allah
يَوۡمَ
Yawmal
(on the) Day
ٱلۡقِيَٰمَةِ
Q̣iyaamati
(of) [the] Judgment
وَلَا
wa-laa
and not
يُزَكِّيهِمۡ
yuzakkeehim
will He purify them
وَلَهُمۡ
wa-lahum
and for them
عَذَابٌ
ʻaẓaabun
(is) a punishment
أَلِيمٌ
ʹaleem.
painful
١٧٤
2:175
أُوْلَٰٓئِكَ
ʹUlaaaʹikal
Those
ٱلَّذِينَ
lazeenash
(are) they who
ٱشۡتَرَوُاْ
tarawuḍ
purchase[d]
ٱلضَّلَٰلَةَ
ḍalaalata
[the] astraying
بِٱلۡهُدَىٰ
bilhudaa
for [the] Guidance
وَٱلۡعَذَابَ
walʻaẓaaba
and [the] punishment
بِٱلۡمَغۡفِرَةِۚ
bilmag̣firah.
for [the] forgiveness
فَمَآ
Famaaa
So what (is)
أَصۡبَرَهُمۡ
ʹaṣbarahum
their endurance
عَلَى
ʻalan
on
ٱلنَّارِ
Naar!
the Fire
