a party
مِّنَ

ٱلَّذِينَ

those who
أُوتُواْ
ʹootul
were given
ٱلۡكِتَٰبَ
Kitaaba
the Book
كِتَٰبَ
Kitaabal
(the) Book
ٱللَّهِ
laahi
(of) Allah
وَرَآءَ
waraaaʹa
behind
ظُهُورِهِمۡ
z̤̣uhoorihim
their backs
كَأَنَّهُمۡ
kaʹannahum
as if they
لَا
laa-
(do) not
يَعۡلَمُونَ
yaʻlamoon!
know

2:102
وَٱتَّبَعُواْ
Wattabaʻoo
And they followed
مَا
maa-
what
تَتۡلُواْ
tatlush
recite(d)
ٱلشَّيَٰطِينُ
shayaaṭeenu
the devils
عَلَىٰ
ʻalaa
over
مُلۡكِ
mulki
(the) kingdom
سُلَيۡمَٰنَۖ
Sulaymaan.
(of) Sulaiman
وَمَا
Wa-maa
And not
كَفَرَ
kafara
disbelieved
سُلَيۡمَٰنُ
Sulaymaanu
Sulaiman
وَلَٰكِنَّ
wa-laakinnash
[and] but
ٱلشَّيَٰطِينَ
shayaaṭeena
the devils
كَفَرُواْ
kafaroo
disbelieved
يُعَلِّمُونَ
yuʻal-limoonan
they teach
ٱلنَّاسَ
naasas
the people
ٱلسِّحۡرَ
siḥr,
[the] magic
وَمَآ
wa-maaa
and what
أُنزِلَ
ʹuñzila
was sent down
عَلَى
ʻalal
to
ٱلۡمَلَكَيۡنِ
malakayni
the two angels
بِبَابِلَ
bi-Baabila
in Babylon
هَٰرُوتَ
Haaroota
Harut
وَمَٰرُوتَۚ
wa-Maaroot.
and Marut
وَمَا
Wa-maa
And not
يُعَلِّمَانِ
yuʻallimaani
they both teach
مِنۡ
min
any
أَحَدٍ
ʹaḥadin
one
حَتَّىٰ
ḥattaa
unless
يَقُولَآ
yaq̣oolaaa
they [both] say
إِنَّمَا
ʹinnamaa
Only
نَحۡنُ
naḥnu
we
فِتۡنَةٞ
fitnatuñ
(are) a trial
فَلَا
falaa
so (do) not
تَكۡفُرۡۖ
takfur.
disbelieve
فَيَتَعَلَّمُونَ
Fayataʻal-lamoona
But they learn
مِنۡهُمَا
minhumaa -
from those two
مَا
maa
what
يُفَرِّقُونَ
yufarriq̣oona
[they] causes separation
بِهِۦ
Bihee
with it
بَيۡنَ
baynal
between
ٱلۡمَرۡءِ
marʹi
the man
وَزَوۡجِهِۦۚ
wa-zawjih.
and his spouse
وَمَا
Wa-maa
And not
هُم
hum̃
they (could)
بِضَآرِّينَ
biḍaaarreena
at all [be those who] harm
بِهِۦ
bihee
with it
مِنۡ
min
any
أَحَدٍ
ʹaḥadin
one
إِلَّا
ʹillaa
except
بِإِذۡنِ
biʹiẓnil
by permission
ٱللَّهِۚ
laah.
(of) Allah
وَيَتَعَلَّمُونَ
Wa-yataʻallamoona
And they learn
مَا
maa-
what
يَضُرُّهُمۡ
yaẓurruhum
harms them
وَلَا
wa-laa
and not
يَنفَعُهُمۡۚ
yañfaʻuhum.
profits them
وَلَقَدۡ
Wa-laq̣ad
And indeed
عَلِمُواْ
ʻalimoo
they knew
لَمَنِ
lamanish
that whoever
ٱشۡتَرَىٰهُ
taraahu
buys it
مَا
maa-
not
لَهُۥ
lahoo
for him
فِي
fil
in
ٱلۡأٓخِرَةِ
ʹAakhirati
the Hereafter
مِنۡ
min
any
خَلَٰقٖۚ
khalaaq̣.
share
وَلَبِئۡسَ
Wa-labiʹsa
And surely evil
مَا
maa-
(is) what
شَرَوۡاْ
sharaw
they sold
بِهِۦٓ
biheee
with it
أَنفُسَهُمۡۚ
ʹañfusahum,
themselves
لَوۡ
law
if
كَانُواْ
kaanoo
they were
يَعۡلَمُونَ
yaʻlamoon.
(to) know
١٠٢
2:103
وَلَوۡ
Wa-law
And if
أَنَّهُمۡ
ʹannahum
[that] they
ءَامَنُواْ
ʹaamanoo
(had) believed
وَٱتَّقَوۡاْ
wattaq̣aw
and feared (Allah)
لَمَثُوبَةٞ
lamas̤oobatum
surely (the) reward
مِّنۡ
min
(of)
عِندِ
ʻiñdil
from
ٱللَّهِ
laahi
Allah
خَيۡرٞۚ
khayr:
(would have been) better
لَّوۡ
law
if
كَانُواْ
kaanoo
they were
يَعۡلَمُونَ
yaʻlamoon.
(to) know
١٠٣
2:104
يَٰٓأَيُّهَا
Yaaaʹayyuhal
O you
ٱلَّذِينَ
lazeena
who
ءَامَنُواْ
ʹaamanoo
believe[d]
لَا
laa-
(Do) not
تَقُولُواْ
taq̣ooloo
say
رَٰعِنَا
raaʻinaa
Raina
وَقُولُواْ
wa-q̣ooluñ
and say
ٱنظُرۡنَا
z̤̣urnaa
Unzurna
وَٱسۡمَعُواْۗ
wasmaʻoo.
and listen
وَلِلۡكَٰفِرِينَ
Wa-lil-Kaafireena
And for the disbelievers
عَذَابٌ
ʻaẓaabun
(is) a punishment
أَلِيمٞ
ʹaleem.
painful
١٠٤
2:105
مَّا
Maa-
(Do) not
يَوَدُّ
yawaddul
like
ٱلَّذِينَ
laẓeena
those who
كَفَرُواْ
kafaroo
disbelieve
مِنۡ
min
from
أَهۡلِ
ʹAhlil
(the) People
ٱلۡكِتَٰبِ
Kitaabi
(of) the Book
وَلَا
wa-lal
and not
ٱلۡمُشۡرِكِينَ
Mushrikeena
those who associate partners (with Allah)
أَن
ʹañy
that
يُنَزَّلَ
yunazzala
(there should) be sent down
عَلَيۡكُم
ʻalaykum
to you
مِّنۡ
min
any
خَيۡرٖ
khayrim
good
مِّن
mir
from
رَّبِّكُمۡۚ
Rabbikum.
your Lord
وَٱللَّهُ
Wallaahu
And Allah
يَخۡتَصُّ
yakhtaṣṣu
chooses
بِرَحۡمَتِهِۦ
biraḥmatihee
for His Mercy
مَن
mañy
whom
يَشَآءُۚ
yashaaaʹ:
He wills
وَٱللَّهُ
Wallaahu
And Allah
ذُو
Ẓul
(is the) Possessor
ٱلۡفَضۡلِ
Faḍlil
(of) [the] Bounty
ٱلۡعَظِيمِ
ʹaz̤̣eem.
[the] Great

2:106
۞مَا
Maa-
What
نَنسَخۡ
nañsakh
We abrogate
مِنۡ
min
(of)
ءَايَةٍ
ʹaayatin
a sign
أَوۡ
ʹaw
or
نُنسِهَا
nuñsihaa
[We] cause it to be forgotten
نَأۡتِ
naʹti
We bring
بِخَيۡرٖ
bikhayrim
better
مِّنۡهَآ
minhaaa
than it
أَوۡ
ʹaw
or
مِثۡلِهَآۗ
mis̤lihaa:
similar (to) it
أَلَمۡ
ʹalam
Do not
تَعۡلَمۡ
taʻlam
you know
أَنَّ
ʹannal
that
ٱللَّهَ
laaha
Allah
عَلَىٰ
ʻalaa
over
كُلِّ
kulli
every
شَيۡءٖ
shayʹiñ
thing
قَدِيرٌ
Q̣adeer?
(is) All-Powerful
١٠٦
2:107
أَلَمۡ
ʹAlam
Do not
تَعۡلَمۡ
taʻlam
you know
أَنَّ
ʹannal
that
ٱللَّهَ
laaha
Allah
لَهُۥ
lahoo
for Him
مُلۡكُ
mulkus
(is the) Kingdom
ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ
samaawaati
(of) the heavens
وَٱلۡأَرۡضِۗ
wal-ʹarḍ?
and the earth
وَمَا
Wa-maa
And not
لَكُم
lakum
(is) for you
مِّن
miñ
from
دُونِ
doonil
besides
ٱللَّهِ
laahi
Allah
مِن
miñw
any
وَلِيّٖ
waliyyiñw
protector
وَلَا
walaa
and not
نَصِيرٍ
naṣeer.
any helper
١٠٧
2:108
أَمۡ
ʹAm
Or
تُرِيدُونَ
tureedoona
(do) you wish
أَن
ʹañ
that
تَسۡـَٔلُواْ
tasʹaloo
you ask
رَسُولَكُمۡ
Rasoolakum
your Messenger
كَمَا
kamaa
as
سُئِلَ
suʹila
was asked
مُوسَىٰ
Moosaa
Musa
مِن
miñ
from
قَبۡلُۗ
q̣abl?
before
وَمَن
Wa-mañy
And whoever
يَتَبَدَّلِ
yatabaddalil
exchanges
ٱلۡكُفۡرَ
kufra
[the] disbelief
بِٱلۡإِيمَٰنِ
bil-ʹeemaani
with [the] faith
فَقَدۡ
faq̣ad
so certainly
ضَلَّ
ḍalla
he went astray (from)
سَوَآءَ
sawaaaʹas
(the) evenness
ٱلسَّبِيلِ
sabeel.
(of) the way
١٠٨
2:109
وَدَّ
Wadda
Wish[ed]
كَثِيرٞ
kas̤eerum
many
مِّنۡ
min
from
أَهۡلِ
ʹAhlil
(the) People
ٱلۡكِتَٰبِ
Kitaabi
(of) the Book
لَوۡ
law
if
يَرُدُّونَكُم
yaruddoonakum
they could turn you back
مِّنۢ
mim
from
بَعۡدِ
baʻdi
after
إِيمَٰنِكُمۡ
ʹeemaanikum
your (having) faith
كُفَّارًا
kuffaaran,
(to) disbelievers
حَسَدٗا
ḥasadam
(out of) jealousy
مِّنۡ
min
from
عِندِ
ʻiñdi
(of)
أَنفُسِهِم
añfusihim
themselves
مِّنۢ
mim
(even) from
بَعۡدِ
baʻdi
after
مَا
maa-
[what]
تَبَيَّنَ
tabayyana
became clear
لَهُمُ
lahumul
to them
ٱلۡحَقُّۖ
Ḥaq̣q̣.
the truth
فَٱعۡفُواْ
Faʻfoo
So forgive
وَٱصۡفَحُواْ
waṣfaḥoo
and overlook
حَتَّىٰ
ḥattaa
until
يَأۡتِيَ
yaʹ-tiyal
brings
ٱللَّهُ
laahu
Allah
بِأَمۡرِهِۦٓۗ
biʹamrih:
His Command
إِنَّ
ʹinnal
Indeed
ٱللَّهَ
laaha
Allah
عَلَىٰ
ʻalaa
on
كُلِّ
kulli
every
شَيۡءٖ
shayʹiñ
thing
قَدِيرٞ
Q̣adeer.
(is) All-Powerful
١٠٩
2:110
وَأَقِيمُواْ
Wa-ʹaq̣eemuṣ
And establish
ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ
Ṣalaata
the prayer
وَءَاتُواْ
wa-ʹaatuz
and give
ٱلزَّكَوٰةَۚ
Zakaah:
[the] zakah
وَمَا
wa-maa
And whatever
تُقَدِّمُواْ
tuq̣addimoo
you send forth
لِأَنفُسِكُم
liʹañfusikum
for yourselves
مِّنۡ
min
of
خَيۡرٖ
khayriñ
good (deeds)
تَجِدُوهُ
tajidoohu
you will find it
عِندَ
ʻiñdal
with
ٱللَّهِۗ
lah:
Allah
إِنَّ
ʹinnal
Indeed
ٱللَّهَ
laaha
Allah
بِمَا
bimaa
of what
تَعۡمَلُونَ
taʻmaloona
you do
بَصِيرٞ
Baṣeer.
(is) All-Seer
١١٠
2:111
وَقَالُواْ
Wa-q̣aaloo
And they said
لَن
lañy
Never
يَدۡخُلَ
yadkhulal
will enter
ٱلۡجَنَّةَ
Jannata
the Paradise
إِلَّا
ʹillaa
except
مَن
mañ
who
كَانَ
kaana
is
هُودًا
Hoodan
(a) Jew[s]
أَوۡ
ʹaw
or
نَصَٰرَىٰۗ
Naṣaaraa.
(a) Christian[s]
تِلۡكَ
Tilka
That
أَمَانِيُّهُمۡۗ
ʹamaaniyyuhum.
(is) their wishful thinking
قُلۡ
Q̣ul
Say
هَاتُواْ
haatoo
Bring
بُرۡهَٰنَكُمۡ
burhaanakum
your proof
إِن
ʹiñ
if
كُنتُمۡ
kuñtum
you are
صَٰدِقِينَ
ṣaadiq̣een.
[those who are] truthful
١١١
2:112
بَلَىٰۚ
Balaa,
Yes
مَنۡ
man
whoever
أَسۡلَمَ
ʹaslama
submits
وَجۡهَهُۥ
wajhahoo
his face
لِلَّهِ
lillaahi
to Allah
وَهُوَ
wa-huwa
and he
مُحۡسِنٞ
muḥsinuñ
(is) a good-doer
فَلَهُۥٓ
falahooo
so for him
أَجۡرُهُۥ
ʹajruhoo
(is) his reward
عِندَ
ʻiñda
with
رَبِّهِۦ
Rabbih;
his Lord
وَلَا
wa-laa
And no
خَوۡفٌ
khawfun
fear
عَلَيۡهِمۡ
ʻalayhim
(will be) on them
وَلَا
wa-laa
and not
هُمۡ
hum
they
يَحۡزَنُونَ
yaḥzanoon.
(will) grieve
١١٢

2:113
وَقَالَتِ
Wa-q̣aalatil
And said
ٱلۡيَهُودُ
Yahoodu
the Jews
لَيۡسَتِ
laysatin
Not
ٱلنَّصَٰرَىٰ
Naṣaaraa
the Christians
عَلَىٰ
ʻalaa
(are) on
شَيۡءٖ
shayʹ;
anything
وَقَالَتِ
wa-q̣aalatin
and said
ٱلنَّصَٰرَىٰ
Naṣaaraa
the Christians
لَيۡسَتِ
laysatil
Not
ٱلۡيَهُودُ
Yahoodu
the Jews
عَلَىٰ
ʻalaa
(are) on
شَيۡءٖ
shayʹiñw
anything
وَهُمۡ
wa- hum
although they
يَتۡلُونَ
yatloonal
recite
ٱلۡكِتَٰبَۗ
Kitaab.
the Book
كَذَٰلِكَ
Kaẓaalika
Like that
قَالَ
q̣aalal
said
ٱلَّذِينَ
laẓeena
those who
لَا
laa-
(do) not
يَعۡلَمُونَ
yaʻlamoona
know
مِثۡلَ
mis̤la
similar
قَوۡلِهِمۡۚ
q̣awlihim.
their saying
فَٱللَّهُ
Fallaahu
[So] Allah
يَحۡكُمُ
Yaḥkumu
will judge
بَيۡنَهُمۡ
baynahum
between them
يَوۡمَ
Yawmal
(on the) Day
ٱلۡقِيَٰمَةِ
Q̣iyaamati
(of) Resurrection
فِيمَا
feemaa
in what
كَانُواْ
kaanoo
they were
فِيهِ
feehi
[in it]
يَخۡتَلِفُونَ
yakhtalifoon.
differing
١١٣
2:114
وَمَنۡ
Wa-man
And who
أَظۡلَمُ
ʹaz̤̣lamu
(is) more unjust
مِمَّن
mimmam
than (one) who
مَّنَعَ
manaʻa
prevents
مَسَٰجِدَ
masaajidal
(the) masajid
ٱللَّهِ
lahi
(of) Allah
أَن
ʹañy
to
يُذۡكَرَ
yuẓkara
be mentioned
فِيهَا
feehas
in them
ٱسۡمُهُۥ
muhoo
His name
وَسَعَىٰ
wa-saʻaa
and strives
فِي
fee
for
خَرَابِهَآۚ
kharaabihaa?
their destruction
أُوْلَٰٓئِكَ
ʹUlaaaʹika
Those
مَا
maa-
Not
كَانَ
kaana
it is
لَهُمۡ
lahum
for them
أَن
ʹany
that
يَدۡخُلُوهَآ
yadkhuloohaaa
they enter them
إِلَّا
ʹillaa
except
خَآئِفِينَۚ
khaaaʹifeen.
(like) those in fear
لَهُمۡ
Lahum
For them
فِي
fid
in
ٱلدُّنۡيَا
dunyaa
the world
خِزۡيٞ
khizyuñw
(is) disgrace
وَلَهُمۡ
wa-lahum
and for them
فِي
fil
in
ٱلۡأٓخِرَةِ
ʹAakhirati
the Hereafter
عَذَابٌ
ʻaẓaabun
(is) a punishment
عَظِيمٞ
ʻaz̤̣eem.
great
١١٤
2:115
وَلِلَّهِ
Wa-lillaahil
And for Allah
ٱلۡمَشۡرِقُ
Mashriq̣u
(is) the east
وَٱلۡمَغۡرِبُۚ
wal-Mag̣rib:
and the west
فَأَيۡنَمَا
Faʹaynamaa
so wherever
تُوَلُّواْ
tuwalloo
you turn
فَثَمَّ
fas̤amma
[so] there
وَجۡهُ
Wajhul
(is the) face
ٱللَّهِۚ
laah.
(of) Allah
إِنَّ
ʹInnal
Indeed
ٱللَّهَ
laaha
Allah
وَٰسِعٌ
Waasiʻun
(is) All-Encompassing
عَلِيمٞ
ʻAleem.
All-Knowing
١١٥
2:116
وَقَالُواْ
Wa-q̣aalut
And they said
ٱتَّخَذَ
takhaẓal
has taken
ٱللَّهُ
laahu
Allah
وَلَدٗاۗ
waladañ
a son
سُبۡحَٰنَهُۥۖ
Subḥaanah!
Glory be to Him
بَل
Bal
Nay
لَّهُۥ
lahoo
for Him
مَا
maa-
(is) what
فِي
fis
(is) in
ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ
samaawaati
the heavens
وَٱلۡأَرۡضِۖ
wal-ʹarḍ:
and the earth
كُلّٞ
kullul
All
لَّهُۥ
lahoo
to Him
قَٰنِتُونَ
q̣aanitoon.
(are) humbly obedient
١١٦
2:117
بَدِيعُ
Badeeʻus
(The) Originator
ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ
samaawaati
(of) the heavens
وَٱلۡأَرۡضِۖ
wal-ʹarḍ:
and the earth
وَإِذَا
wa-ʹiẓaa
And when
قَضَىٰٓ
q̣aḍaaa
He decrees
أَمۡرٗا
ʹamrañ
a matter
فَإِنَّمَا
faʹinnamaa
[so] only
يَقُولُ
yaq̣oolu
He says
لَهُۥ
lahoo
to it
كُن
˹Kuñ˺
Be
فَيَكُونُ
fayakoon.
and it becomes
١١٧
2:118
وَقَالَ
Waq̣aalal
And said
ٱلَّذِينَ
laẓeena
those who
لَا
laa-
(do) not
يَعۡلَمُونَ
yaʻlamoona
know
لَوۡلَا
law-laa
Why not
يُكَلِّمُنَا
yukallimunal
speaks to us
ٱللَّهُ
laahu
Allah
أَوۡ
ʹaw
or
تَأۡتِينَآ
taʹteenaaa
comes to us
ءَايَةٞۗ
ʹAayah?
a sign
كَذَٰلِكَ
Kaẓaalika
Like that
قَالَ
q̣aalal
said
ٱلَّذِينَ
laẓeena
those
مِن
miñ
from
قَبۡلِهِم
q̣ablihim
before them
مِّثۡلَ
mis̤la
similar
قَوۡلِهِمۡۘ
q̣awlihim.
their saying
تَشَٰبَهَتۡ
Tashaabahat
Became alike
قُلُوبُهُمۡۗ
q̣uloobuhum.
their hearts
قَدۡ
Q̣ad
Indeed
بَيَّنَّا
bayyannal
We have made clear
ٱلۡأٓيَٰتِ
ʹaayaati
the signs
لِقَوۡمٖ
liq̣awmiñy
for people
يُوقِنُونَ
yooq̣inoon.
(who) firmly believe
١١٨
2:119
إِنَّآ
ʹInnaaa
Indeed We
أَرۡسَلۡنَٰكَ
ʹarsalnaaka
[We] have sent you
بِٱلۡحَقِّ
bilḥaq̣q̣i
with the truth
بَشِيرٗا
basheerañw
(as) a bearer of good news
وَنَذِيرٗاۖ
wanaẓeera
and (as) a warner
وَلَا
wa-laa
And not
تُسۡـَٔلُ
tusʹalu
you will be asked
عَنۡ
ʻan
about
أَصۡحَٰبِ
ʹAṣḥaabil
(the) companions
ٱلۡجَحِيمِ
Jaḥeem.
(of) the blazing Fire
١١٩

2:120
وَلَن
Wa-lañ
And never
تَرۡضَىٰ
tarḍaa
will be pleased
عَنكَ
ʻañkal
with you
ٱلۡيَهُودُ
Yahoodu
the Jews
وَلَا
wa-lan
and [not]
ٱلنَّصَٰرَىٰ
Naṣaaraa
the Christians
حَتَّىٰ
ḥattaa
until
تَتَّبِعَ
tattabiʻa
you follow
مِلَّتَهُمۡۗ
millatahum.
their religion
قُلۡ
Q̣ul
Say
إِنَّ
ʹinna
Indeed
هُدَى
Hudal
(the) Guidance
ٱللَّهِ
laahi
(of) Allah
هُوَ
huwal
it
ٱلۡهُدَىٰۗ
Hudaa.
(is) the Guidance
وَلَئِنِ
Wa-laʹinit
And if
ٱتَّبَعۡتَ
tabaʻta
you follow
أَهۡوَآءَهُم
ʹahwaaaʹahum
their desires
بَعۡدَ
baʻdal
after
ٱلَّذِي
laẓee
what
جَآءَكَ
jaaaʹaka
has come to you
مِنَ
minal
of
ٱلۡعِلۡمِ
ʻilmi
the knowledge
مَا
maa-
not
لَكَ
laka
for you
مِنَ
minal
from
ٱللَّهِ
laahi
Allah
مِن
miñw
any
وَلِيّٖ
waliyyiñw
protector
وَلَا
walaa
and not
نَصِيرٍ
naṣeer.
any helper
١٢٠
2:121
ٱلَّذِينَ
ʹAllaẓeena
Those
ءَاتَيۡنَٰهُمُ
ʹaataynaahumul
We have given them
ٱلۡكِتَٰبَ
Kitaaba
the Book
يَتۡلُونَهُۥ
yatloonahoo
recite it
حَقَّ
ḥaq̣q̣a
(as it has the) right
تِلَاوَتِهِۦٓ
tilaawatih:
(of) its recitation
أُوْلَٰٓئِكَ
ʹUlaaaʹika
Those (people)
يُؤۡمِنُونَ
yuʹminoona
believe
بِهِۦۗ
bih.
in it
وَمَن
Wa-mañy
And whoever
يَكۡفُرۡ
yakfur

ٱلۡخَٰسِرُونَ
khaasiroon.
(are) the losers
١٢١
2:122
يَٰبَنِيٓ
Yaa-Baneee
O Children
إِسۡرَٰٓءِيلَ
ʹIsraaaʹeelaẓ
(of) Israel
ٱذۡكُرُواْ
kuroo
Remember
نِعۡمَتِيَ
niʻmatiyal
My Favor
ٱلَّتِيٓ
lateee
which
أَنۡعَمۡتُ
ʹanʻamtu
I bestowed
عَلَيۡكُمۡ
ʻalaykum
upon you
وَأَنِّي
wa-ʹannee
and that I
فَضَّلۡتُكُمۡ
faḍḍaltukum
[I] preferred you
عَلَى
ʻalal
over
ٱلۡعَٰلَمِينَ
ʻaalameen.
the worlds
١٢٢
2:123
وَٱتَّقُواْ
Wattaq̣oo
And fear
يَوۡمٗا
Yawmal
a day
لَّا
laa
not
تَجۡزِي
tajzee
will avail
نَفۡسٌ
nafsun
a soul
عَن
ʻan
(of)
نَّفۡسٖ
nafsiñ
(another) soul
شَيۡـٔٗا
shayʹañw
anything
وَلَا
walaa
and not
يُقۡبَلُ
yuq̣balu
will be accepted
مِنۡهَا
minhaa
from it
عَدۡلٞ
ʻadluñw
any compensation
وَلَا
Walaa
and not
تَنفَعُهَا
tañfaʻuhaa
will benefit it
شَفَٰعَةٞ
shafaaʻatunw
any intercession
وَلَا
walaa
and not
هُمۡ
hum
they
يُنصَرُونَ
yuñṣaroon.
will be helped
١٢٣
2:124
۞وَإِذِ
Wa-ʹiẓib
And when
ٱبۡتَلَىٰٓ
talaaa
tried
إِبۡرَٰهِـۧمَ
ʹIbraaheema
Ibrahim
رَبُّهُۥ
Rabbuhoo
his Lord
بِكَلِمَٰتٖ
bi-Kalimaatiñ
with words
فَأَتَمَّهُنَّۖ
faʹatammahunna:
and he fulfilled them
قَالَ
q̣aala
He said
إِنِّي
ʹInnee
Indeed I
جَاعِلُكَ
jaaʻiluka
(am) the One to make you
لِلنَّاسِ
linnaasi
for the mankind
إِمَامٗاۖ
ʹImaamaa.
a leader
قَالَ
Q̣aala
He said
وَمِن
wa-miñ
And from
ذُرِّيَّتِيۖ
ẓurriyyatee!
my offspring
قَالَ
Q̣aala
He said
لَا
laa-
(Does) not
يَنَالُ
yanaalu
reach
عَهۡدِي
ʻahdiz̤̣
My Covenant
ٱلظَّٰلِمِينَ
z̤̣aalimeen.
(to) the wrongdoers
١٢٤
2:125
وَإِذۡ
Wa-ʹiẓ
And when
جَعَلۡنَا
jaʻalnal
We made
ٱلۡبَيۡتَ
Bayta
the House
مَثَابَةٗ
mas̤aabatal
a place of return
لِّلنَّاسِ
linnaasi
for mankind
وَأَمۡنٗا
wa-ʹamnaa;
and (a place of) security
وَٱتَّخِذُواْ
wattakhiẓoo
and (said) Take
مِن
mim
[from]
مَّقَامِ
Maq̣aami
(the) standing place
إِبۡرَٰهِـۧمَ
ʹIbraaheema
(of) Ibrahim
مُصَلّٗىۖ
muṣallaa:
(as) a place of prayer
وَعَهِدۡنَآ
wa-ʻahidnaaa
And We made a covenant
إِلَىٰٓ
ʹilaaa
with
إِبۡرَٰهِـۧمَ
ʹIbraaheema
Ibrahim
وَإِسۡمَٰعِيلَ
wa-ʹIsmaaʻeela
and Ishmael
أَن
ʹañ
[that]
طَهِّرَا
ṭahhiraa
[You both] purify
بَيۡتِيَ
Baytiya
My House
لِلطَّآئِفِينَ
liṭṭaaaʹifeena
for those who circumambulate
وَٱلۡعَٰكِفِينَ
walʻaakifeena
and those who seclude themselves for devotion and prayer
وَٱلرُّكَّعِ
warrukkaʻis
and those who bow down
ٱلسُّجُودِ
sujood.
and those who prostrate
١٢٥
2:126
وَإِذۡ
Wa-ʹiẓ
And when
قَالَ
q̣aala
said
إِبۡرَٰهِـۧمُ
ʹIbraaheemu
Ibrahim
رَبِّ
Rabbij
My Lord
ٱجۡعَلۡ
ʻal
make
هَٰذَا
haaẓaa
this
بَلَدًا
Baladan
a city
ءَامِنٗا
ʹAaminañw
secure
وَٱرۡزُقۡ
warzuq̣
and provide
أَهۡلَهُۥ
ʹahlahoo
its people
مِنَ
minas̤
with
ٱلثَّمَرَٰتِ
s̤amaraati
fruits
مَنۡ
man
(to) whoever
ءَامَنَ
ʹaamana
believed
مِنۡهُم
minhum̃
from them
بِٱللَّهِ
billaahi
in Allah
وَٱلۡيَوۡمِ
wal-Yawmil
and the Day
ٱلۡأٓخِرِۚ
ʹAakhir.
the Last
قَالَ
Q̣aala
He said
وَمَن
wa-mañ
And whoever
كَفَرَ
kafara
disbelieved
فَأُمَتِّعُهُۥ
faʹumattiʻuhoo
[then] I will grant him enjoyment
قَلِيلٗا
q̣aleelañ
a little
ثُمَّ
s̤umma
then
أَضۡطَرُّهُۥٓ
ʹaḍṭarruhoo
I will force him
إِلَىٰ
ʹilaa
to
عَذَابِ
ʻaẓaabin
(the) punishment
ٱلنَّارِۖ
Naar,
(of) the Fire
وَبِئۡسَ
wa-biʹsal
and evil
ٱلۡمَصِيرُ
maṣeer!
(is) the destination
١٢٦

وَإِذۡ
Wa-ʹiẓ
And when
يَرۡفَعُ
yarfaʻu
(was) raising
إِبۡرَٰهِـۧمُ
ʹIbraaheemul
Ibrahim
ٱلۡقَوَاعِدَ
q̣awaaʻida
the foundations
مِنَ
minal
of
ٱلۡبَيۡتِ
Bayti
the House
وَإِسۡمَٰعِيلُ
wa-ʹIsmaaʻeel:
and Ishmael
رَبَّنَا
Rabbanaa
(saying) Our Lord
تَقَبَّلۡ
taq̣abbal
Accept
مِنَّآۖ
minnaa:
from us
إِنَّكَ
ʹinnaka
Indeed You
أَنتَ
ʹAñtas
[You] (are)
ٱلسَّمِيعُ
Sameeʻul
the All-Hearing
ٱلۡعَلِيمُ
ʻAleem.
the All-Knowing
١٢٧
2:128
رَبَّنَا
Rabbanaa
Our Lord
وَٱجۡعَلۡنَا
wajʻalnaa
[and] Make us
مُسۡلِمَيۡنِ
Muslimayni
both submissive
لَكَ
laka
to You
وَمِن
wa-miñ
And from
ذُرِّيَّتِنَآ
ẓurriyyatinaaa
our offspring
أُمَّةٗ
ʹUmmatam
a community
مُّسۡلِمَةٗ
Muslimatal
submissive
لَّكَ
lak;
to You
وَأَرِنَا
wa-ʹarinaa
And show us
مَنَاسِكَنَا
manaasikanaa
our ways of worship
وَتُبۡ
wa-tub
and turn
عَلَيۡنَآۖ
ʻalaynaa;
to us
إِنَّكَ
ʹinnaka
Indeed You
أَنتَ
ʹAntat
[You] (are)
ٱلتَّوَّابُ
Tawwaabur
the Oft-returning
ٱلرَّحِيمُ
Raḥeem.
the Most Merciful
١٢٨
2:129
رَبَّنَا
Rabbanaa
Our Lord
وَٱبۡعَثۡ
wabʻas̤
[And] raise up
فِيهِمۡ
feehim
in them
رَسُولٗا
Rasoolam
a Messenger
مِّنۡهُمۡ
minhum
from them
يَتۡلُواْ
yatloo
(who) will recite
عَلَيۡهِمۡ
ʻalayhim
to them
ءَايَٰتِكَ
ʹAayaatika
Your Verses
وَيُعَلِّمُهُمُ
wa-yuʻallimuhumul
and will teach them
ٱلۡكِتَٰبَ
Kitaaba
the Book
وَٱلۡحِكۡمَةَ
wal-Ḥikmata
and the wisdom
وَيُزَكِّيهِمۡۖ
wa-yuzakkeehim:
and purify them
إِنَّكَ
ʹinnaka
Indeed You
أَنتَ
ʹAñtal
You (are)
ٱلۡعَزِيزُ
ʻAzeezul
the All-Mighty
ٱلۡحَكِيمُ
Ḥakeem.
the All-Wise
١٢٩
2:130
وَمَن
Wa-mañy
And who
يَرۡغَبُ
yarg̣abu
will turn away
عَن
ʻam
from
مِّلَّةِ
Millati
(the) religion
إِبۡرَٰهِـۧمَ
ʹIbraaheema
(of) Ibrahim
إِلَّا
ʹillaa
except
مَن
mañ
who
سَفِهَ
safiha
fooled
نَفۡسَهُۥۚ
nafsah?
himself
وَلَقَدِ
Wa-laq̣adiṣ
And indeed
ٱصۡطَفَيۡنَٰهُ
ṭafaynaahu
We chose him
فِي
fid
in
ٱلدُّنۡيَاۖ
dunyaa:
the world
وَإِنَّهُۥ
wa-ʹinnahoo
and indeed he
فِي
fil
in
ٱلۡأٓخِرَةِ
ʹAakhirati
the Hereafter
لَمِنَ
laminaṣ
surely (will be) among
ٱلصَّٰلِحِينَ
Ṣaaliḥeen.
the righteous
١٣٠
2:131
إِذۡ
ʹIẓ
When
قَالَ
q̣aala
said
لَهُۥ
lahoo
to him
رَبُّهُۥٓ
Rabbuhooo
his Lord
أَسۡلِمۡۖ
ʹaslim
Submit (yourself)
قَالَ
q̣aala
he said
أَسۡلَمۡتُ
ʹaslamtu
I (have) submitted (myself)
لِرَبِّ
li-Rabbil
to (the) Lord
ٱلۡعَٰلَمِينَ
ʻaalameen.
(of) the worlds
١٣١
2:132
وَوَصَّىٰ
Wa-waṣṣaa
And enjoined
بِهَآ
bihaaa
[it]
إِبۡرَٰهِـۧمُ
ʹIbraaheemu
Ibrahim
بَنِيهِ
baneehi
(upon) his sons
وَيَعۡقُوبُ
wa-Yaʻq̣oob:
and Yaqub
يَٰبَنِيَّ
yaa-baniyya
O my sons
إِنَّ
ʹinnal
Indeed
ٱللَّهَ
laahaṣ
Allah
ٱصۡطَفَىٰ
ṭafaa
has chosen
لَكُمُ
lakumud
for you
ٱلدِّينَ
Deena
the religion
فَلَا
falaa
so not
تَمُوتُنَّ
tamootunna
(should) you die
إِلَّا
ʹillaa
except
وَأَنتُم
wa-ʹañtum
while you
مُّسۡلِمُونَ
Muslimoon.
(are) submissive
١٣٢
2:133
أَمۡ
ʹAm
Or
كُنتُمۡ
kuñtum
were you
شُهَدَآءَ
shuhadaaaʹa
witnesses
إِذۡ
ʹiẓ
when
حَضَرَ
ḥaḍara
came to
يَعۡقُوبَ
Yaʻq̣oobal
Yaqub
ٱلۡمَوۡتُ
mawtu
[the] death
إِذۡ
ʹiẓ
when
قَالَ
q̣aala
he said
لِبَنِيهِ
libaneehi
to his sons
مَا
maa-
What
تَعۡبُدُونَ
taʻbudoona
will you worship
مِنۢ
mim
from
بَعۡدِيۖ
baʻdee?
after me
قَالُواْ
Q̣aaloo
They said
نَعۡبُدُ
naʻbudu
We will worship
إِلَٰهَكَ
ʹIlaahaka
your God
وَإِلَٰهَ
wa-ʹIlaaha
and (the) God
ءَابَآئِكَ
ʹaabaaaʹika
(of) your forefathers
إِبۡرَٰهِـۧمَ
ʹIbraaheema
Ibrahim
وَإِسۡمَٰعِيلَ
wa-ʹIsmaaʻeela
and Ishmael
وَإِسۡحَٰقَ
wa-ʹIsḥaaq̣a
and Isaac
إِلَٰهٗا
ʹIlaahañw
God
وَٰحِدٗا
Waaḥidaa:
One
وَنَحۡنُ
wa-naḥnu
And we
لَهُۥ
lahoo
to Him
مُسۡلِمُونَ
Muslimoon.
(are) submissive
١٣٣
2:134
تِلۡكَ
Tilka
This
أُمَّةٞ
ʹummatuñ
(was) a community
قَدۡ
q̣ad
(which)
خَلَتۡۖ
khalat.
has passed away
لَهَا
Lahaa
for it
مَا
maa-
what
كَسَبَتۡ
kasabat
it earned
وَلَكُم
wa-lakum
and for you
مَّا
maa
what
كَسَبۡتُمۡۖ
kasabtum.
you have earned
وَلَا
Wa-laa
And not
تُسۡـَٔلُونَ
tusʹaloona
you will be asked
عَمَّا
ʻammaa
about what
كَانُواْ
kaanoo
they used to
يَعۡمَلُونَ
yaʻmaloon.

وَقَالُواْ
Wa-q̣aaloo
And they said
كُونُواْ
koonoo
Be
هُودًا
Hoodan
Jews
أَوۡ
ʹaw
or
نَصَٰرَىٰ
Naṣaaraa
Christians
تَهۡتَدُواْۗ
tahtadoo.
(then) you will be guided
قُلۡ
Q̣ul
Say
بَلۡ
bal
Nay
مِلَّةَ
Millata
(the) religion
إِبۡرَٰهِـۧمَ
ʹIbraaheema
(of) Ibrahim
حَنِيفٗاۖ
Ḥaneefaa,
(the) upright
وَمَا
wa-maa
and not
كَانَ
kaana
he was
مِنَ
minal
of
ٱلۡمُشۡرِكِينَ
mushrikeen.
those who associated partners (with Allah)
١٣٥
2:136
قُولُوٓاْ
Q̣oolooo
Say
ءَامَنَّا
ʹaamannaa
We have believed
بِٱللَّهِ
billaahi
in Allah
وَمَآ
wa-maaa
and what
أُنزِلَ
ʹuñzila
(is) revealed
إِلَيۡنَا
ʹilaynaa
to us
وَمَآ
wa-maaa
and what
أُنزِلَ
ʹuñzila
was revealed
إِلَىٰٓ
ʹilaaa
to
إِبۡرَٰهِـۧمَ
ʹIbraaheema
Ibrahim
وَإِسۡمَٰعِيلَ
wa-ʹIsmaaʻeela
and Ishmael
وَإِسۡحَٰقَ
wa-ʹIsḥaaq̣a
and Isaac
وَيَعۡقُوبَ
wa-Yaʻq̣ooba
and Yaqub
وَٱلۡأَسۡبَاطِ
wal-ʹasbaaṭi
and the descendants
وَمَآ
wa-maaa
and what
أُوتِيَ
ʹootiya
was given
مُوسَىٰ
Moosaa
(to) Musa
وَعِيسَىٰ
wa-ʻEesaa
and Isa
وَمَآ
wa-maaa
and what
أُوتِيَ
ʹootiyan
was given
ٱلنَّبِيُّونَ
nabiyyoona
(to) the Prophets
مِن
mir
from
رَّبِّهِمۡ
Rabbihim.
their Lord
لَا
Laa-
Not
نُفَرِّقُ
nufarriq̣u
we make distinction
بَيۡنَ
bayna
between
أَحَدٖ
ʹaḥadim
any
مِّنۡهُمۡ
minhum,
of them
وَنَحۡنُ
wa-naḥnu
And we
لَهُۥ
lahoo
to Him
مُسۡلِمُونَ
Muslimoon.
(are) submissive
١٣٦
2:137
فَإِنۡ
Faʹin
So if
ءَامَنُواْ
ʹaamanoo
they believe[d]
بِمِثۡلِ
bimis̤li
in (the) like
مَآ
maaa
(of) what
ءَامَنتُم
ʹaamañtum̃
you have believed
بِهِۦ
bihee
in [it]
فَقَدِ
faq̣adih
then indeed
ٱهۡتَدَواْۖ
tadaw.
they are (rightly) guided
وَّإِن
Wa-ʹiñ
But if
تَوَلَّوۡاْ
tawallaw
they turn away
فَإِنَّمَا
faʹinnamaa
then only
هُمۡ
hum
they
فِي
fee
(are) in
شِقَاقٖۖ
shiq̣aaq̣:
dissension
فَسَيَكۡفِيكَهُمُ
fasayakfeekahumul
So will suffice you against them
ٱللَّهُۚ
laah,
Allah
وَهُوَ
wa-Huwas
and He
ٱلسَّمِيعُ
Sameeʻul
(is) the All-Hearing
ٱلۡعَلِيمُ
ʻAleem.
the All-Knowing
١٣٧
2:138
صِبۡغَةَ
Ṣibg̣atal
(The) color (religion)
ٱللَّهِ
laah:
(of) Allah
وَمَنۡ
wa-man
And who
أَحۡسَنُ
ʹaḥsanu
(is) better
مِنَ
minal
than
ٱللَّهِ
laahi
Allah
صِبۡغَةٗۖ
ṣibg̣ah?
at coloring
وَنَحۡنُ
Wa-naḥnu
And we
لَهُۥ
lahoo
to Him
عَٰبِدُونَ
ʻaabidoon.
(are) worshippers
١٣٨
2:139
قُلۡ
Q̣ul
Say
أَتُحَآجُّونَنَا
ʹatuḥaaajjoonanaa
Do you argue with us
فِي
fil
about
ٱللَّهِ
laahi
Allah
وَهُوَ
wa-Huwa
while He
رَبُّنَا
Rabbunaa
(is) our Lord
وَرَبُّكُمۡ
wa-Rabbukum;
and your Lord
وَلَنَآ
wa-lanaa
And for us
أَعۡمَٰلُنَا
ʹaʻmaalunaa
(are) our deeds
وَلَكُمۡ
wa-lakum
and for you
أَعۡمَٰلُكُمۡ
ʹaʻmaalukum;
(are) your deeds
وَنَحۡنُ
wa-naḥnu
and we
لَهُۥ
lahoo
to Him
مُخۡلِصُونَ
mukhliṣoon.
(are) sincere
١٣٩
2:140
أَمۡ
ʹAm
Or
تَقُولُونَ
taq̣ooloona
(do) you say
إِنَّ
ʹinna
that
إِبۡرَٰهِـۧمَ
ʹIbraaheema
Ibrahim
وَإِسۡمَٰعِيلَ
wa-ʹIsmaaʻeela
and Ishmael
وَإِسۡحَٰقَ
wa-ʹIsḥaaq̣a
and Isaac
وَيَعۡقُوبَ
wa-Yaʻq̣ooba
and Yaqub
وَٱلۡأَسۡبَاطَ
wal-ʹAsbaaṭa
and the descendants
كَانُواْ
kaanoo
were
هُودًا
Hoodan
Jews
أَوۡ
ʹaw
or
نَصَٰرَىٰۗ
Naṣaaraa?
Christians
قُلۡ
Q̣ul
Say
ءَأَنتُمۡ
ʹaʹañtum
Are you
أَعۡلَمُ
ʹaʻlamu
better knowing
أَمِ
ʹamil
or
ٱللَّهُۗ
laah?
(is) Allah
وَمَنۡ
Wa-man
And who
أَظۡلَمُ
ʹaz̤̣lamu
(is) more unjust
مِمَّن
mimmañ
than (the one) who
كَتَمَ
Katama
concealed
شَهَٰدَةً
shahaadatan
a testimony
عِندَهُۥ
ʻiñdahoo
(that) he has
مِنَ
minal
from
ٱللَّهِۗ
laah?
Allah
وَمَا
Wa-mal
And not
ٱللَّهُ
laahu
(is) Allah
بِغَٰفِلٍ
big̣aafilin
unaware
عَمَّا
ʻammaa
of what
تَعۡمَلُونَ
taʻmaloon.
you do
١٤٠
2:141
تِلۡكَ
Tilka
This
أُمَّةٞ
ʹUmmatuñ
(was) a community
قَدۡ
q̣ad
(which)
خَلَتۡۖ
khalat.
has passed away
لَهَا
Lahaa
for it
مَا
maa-
what
كَسَبَتۡ
kasabat
it earned
وَلَكُم
wa-lakum
and for you
مَّا
maa
what
كَسَبۡتُمۡۖ
kasabtum.
you have earned
وَلَا
Wa-laa
And not
تُسۡـَٔلُونَ
tusʹaloona
you will be asked
عَمَّا
ʻammaa
about what
كَانُواْ
kaanoo
they used to
يَعۡمَلُونَ
yaʻmaloon.

۞سَيَقُولُ
Sayaq̣oolus
Will say
ٱلسُّفَهَآءُ
sufahaaaʹu
the foolish ones
مِنَ
minan
from
ٱلنَّاسِ
naasi
the people
مَا
maa-
What
وَلَّىٰهُمۡ
wallaahum
(has) turned them
عَن
ʻañ
from
قِبۡلَتِهِمُ
Q̣iblatihimul
their direction of prayer
ٱلَّتِي
latee
which
كَانُواْ
kaanoo
they were used to
عَلَيۡهَاۚ
ʻalayhaa?
[on it]
قُل
Q̣ul
Say
لِّلَّهِ
lillaahil
For Allah
ٱلۡمَشۡرِقُ
Mashriq̣u
(is) the east
وَٱلۡمَغۡرِبُۚ
walmag̣hrib:
and the west
يَهۡدِي
yahdee
He guides
مَن
mañy
whom
يَشَآءُ
yashaaaʹu
He wills
إِلَىٰ
ʹilaa
to
صِرَٰطٖ
Ṣiraaṭim
a path
مُّسۡتَقِيمٖ
Mustaq̣eem.
straight
١٤٢
2:143
وَكَذَٰلِكَ
Wa-kaẓaalika
And thus
جَعَلۡنَٰكُمۡ
jaʻalnaakum
We made you
أُمَّةٗ
ʹUmmatañw
a community
وَسَطٗا
Waṣatal
(of the) middle way
لِّتَكُونُواْ
litakoonoo
so that you will be
شُهَدَآءَ
Shuhadaaʹa
witnesses
عَلَى
ʻalan
over
ٱلنَّاسِ
naasi
the mankind
وَيَكُونَ
wa-yakoonar
and will be
ٱلرَّسُولُ
Rasoolu
the Messenger
عَلَيۡكُمۡ
ʻalaykum
on you
شَهِيدٗاۗ
Shaheedaa.
a witness
وَمَا
Wa-maa
And not
جَعَلۡنَا
jaʻalnal
We made
ٱلۡقِبۡلَةَ
Q̣iblatal
the direction of prayer
ٱلَّتِي
latee
which
كُنتَ
kuñta
you were used to
عَلَيۡهَآ
ʻalayhaaa
[on it]
إِلَّا
ʹillaa
except
لِنَعۡلَمَ
linaʻlama
that We make evident
مَن
mañy
(he) who
يَتَّبِعُ
yattabiʻur
follows
ٱلرَّسُولَ
Rasoola
the Messenger
مِمَّن
mimmañy
from (he) who
يَنقَلِبُ
yañq̣alibu
turns back
عَلَىٰ
ʻalaa
on
عَقِبَيۡهِۚ
ʻaq̣ibayh.
his heels
وَإِن
Wa-ʹiñ
And indeed
كَانَتۡ
kaanat
it was
لَكَبِيرَةً
lakabeeratan
certainly a great (test)
إِلَّا
ʹillaa
except
عَلَى
ʻalal
for
ٱلَّذِينَ
laẓeena
those whom
هَدَى
hadal
guided
ٱللَّهُۗ
laah.
(by) Allah
وَمَا
Wa-maa
And not
كَانَ
Kaanal
will
ٱللَّهُ
laahu
Allah

liyuḍeeʻa

إِيمَٰنَكُمۡۚ
ʹeemaanakum.
your faith
إِنَّ
ʹInnal
Indeed
ٱللَّهَ
laaha
Allah
بِٱلنَّاسِ
binnaasi
(is) to [the] mankind
لَرَءُوفٞ
la-Raʹoofur
Full of Kindness
رَّحِيمٞ
Raḥeem.
Most Merciful
١٤٣
2:144
قَدۡ
Q̣ad
Indeed
نَرَىٰ
naraa
We see
تَقَلُّبَ
taq̣alluba
(the) turning
وَجۡهِكَ
wajhika
(of) your face
فِي
fis
towards
ٱلسَّمَآءِۖ
samaaaʹie:
the heaven
فَلَنُوَلِّيَنَّكَ
falanuwalliyannaka
So We will surely turn you
قِبۡلَةٗ
Q̣iblatañ
(to the) direction of prayer
تَرۡضَىٰهَاۚ
tarḍaahaa.
you will be pleased with
فَوَلِّ
Fawalli
So turn
وَجۡهَكَ
wajhaka
your face
شَطۡرَ
shaṭral
towards the direction
ٱلۡمَسۡجِدِ
Masjidil
(of) Al-Masjid
ٱلۡحَرَامِۚ
Ḥaraam.
Al-Haraam
وَحَيۡثُ
Waḥays̤u
and wherever
مَا
maa-
that
كُنتُمۡ
kuñtum
you are
فَوَلُّواْ
fawalloo
[so] turn
وُجُوهَكُمۡ
wujoohakum
your faces
شَطۡرَهُۥۗ
shaṭrah.
(in) its direction
وَإِنَّ
Wa-ʹinnal
And indeed
ٱلَّذِينَ
laẓeena
those who
أُوتُواْ
ʹootul
were given
ٱلۡكِتَٰبَ
Kitaaba
the Book
لَيَعۡلَمُونَ
layaʻlamoona
surely know
أَنَّهُ
ʹannahul
that it
ٱلۡحَقُّ
ḥaq̣q̣u
(is) the truth
مِن
mir
from
رَّبِّهِمۡۗ
Rabbihim.
their Lord
وَمَا
Wa-mal
And not
ٱللَّهُ
laahu
(is) Allah
بِغَٰفِلٍ
big̣aafilin
unaware
عَمَّا
ʻammaa
of what
يَعۡمَلُونَ
yaʻmaloon.
they do
١٤٤
2:145
وَلَئِنۡ
Wa-laʹin
And even if
أَتَيۡتَ
ʹataytal
you come
ٱلَّذِينَ
laẓeena
(to) those who
أُوتُواْ
ʹootul
were given
ٱلۡكِتَٰبَ
Kitaaba
the Book
بِكُلِّ
bikulli
with all
ءَايَةٖ
ʹAayatim
(the) signs
مَّا
maa
not
تَبِعُواْ
tabiʻoo
they would follow
قِبۡلَتَكَۚ
Q̣iblatak;
your direction of prayer
وَمَآ
wa-maaaʹ
and not
أَنتَ
añta
(will) you (be)
بِتَابِعٖ
bitaabiʻin
a follower
قِبۡلَتَهُمۡۚ
Q̣iblatahum;
(of) their direction of prayer
وَمَا
wa-maa
And not
بَعۡضُهُم
baʻḍuhum̃
some of them
بِتَابِعٖ
bitaabiʻiñ
(are) followers
قِبۡلَةَ
Q̣iblata
(of the) direction of prayer
بَعۡضٖۚ
baʻḍ.
(of each) other
وَلَئِنِ
Wa-laʹinit
And if
ٱتَّبَعۡتَ
tabaʻta
you followed
أَهۡوَآءَهُم
ʹahwaaaʹahum
their desires
مِّنۢ
mim
from
بَعۡدِ
baʻdi
after
مَا
maa-
[what]
جَآءَكَ
jaaaʹaka
came to you
مِنَ
minal
of
ٱلۡعِلۡمِ
ʻilmi
the knowledge
إِنَّكَ
ʹinnaka
indeed you
إِذٗا
ʹiḍal
(would) then
لَّمِنَ
laminaz̤̣
(be) surely among
ٱلظَّٰلِمِينَ
z̤̣aalimeen.
the wrongdoers

ٱلَّذِينَ
ʹAllaẓeena
(To) those whom
ءَاتَيۡنَٰهُمُ
ʹaataynaahumul
We gave [them]
ٱلۡكِتَٰبَ
kitaaba
the Book
يَعۡرِفُونَهُۥ
yaʻrifoonahoo
they recognize it
كَمَا
kamaa
like
يَعۡرِفُونَ
yaʹrifoona
they recognize
أَبۡنَآءَهُمۡۖ
ʹabnaaʹahum:
their sons
وَإِنَّ
wa-ʹinna
And indeed
فَرِيقٗا
fareeq̣am
a group
مِّنۡهُمۡ
minhum
of them
لَيَكۡتُمُونَ
layaktumoonal
surely they conceal
ٱلۡحَقَّ
Ḥaq̣q̣a
the Truth
وَهُمۡ
wa-hum
while they
يَعۡلَمُونَ
yaʻlamoon.
know
١٤٦
2:147
ٱلۡحَقُّ
ʹAl-Ḥaq̣q̣u
The Truth
مِن
mir
(is) from
رَّبِّكَ
Rabbika
your Lord
فَلَا
falaa
so (do) not
تَكُونَنَّ
takoonanna
be
مِنَ
minal
among
ٱلۡمُمۡتَرِينَ
mumtareen.
the doubters
١٤٧
2:148
وَلِكُلّٖ
Wa-likulliñw
And for everyone
وِجۡهَةٌ
wijhatun
(is) a direction
هُوَ
huwa
he
مُوَلِّيهَاۖ
muwalleehaa
turns towards it
فَٱسۡتَبِقُواْ
fastabiq̣ul
so race
ٱلۡخَيۡرَٰتِۚ
khayraat.
(to) the good
أَيۡنَ
ʹAyna
Wherever
مَا
maa-
that
تَكُونُواْ
takoonoo
you will be
يَأۡتِ
yaʹti
will bring
بِكُمُ
bikumul
you
ٱللَّهُ
laahu
(by) Allah
جَمِيعًاۚ
Jameeʻaa.
together
إِنَّ
ʹInnal
Indeed
ٱللَّهَ
laaha
Allah
عَلَىٰ
ʻalaa
(is) on
كُلِّ
kulli
every
شَيۡءٖ
shayʹiñ
thing
قَدِيرٞ
Q̣adeer.
All-Powerful
١٤٨
2:149
وَمِنۡ
Wa-min
And from
حَيۡثُ
ḥays̤u
wherever
خَرَجۡتَ
kharajta
you start forth
فَوَلِّ
fawalli
[so] turn
وَجۡهَكَ
wajhaka
your face
شَطۡرَ
shaṭral
(in the) direction
ٱلۡمَسۡجِدِ
Masjidil
(of) Al-Masjid
ٱلۡحَرَامِۖ
Ḥaraam;
Al-Haraam
وَإِنَّهُۥ
wa-ʹinnahoo
And indeed it
لَلۡحَقُّ
lalḥaq̣q̣u
(is) surely the truth
مِن
mir
from
رَّبِّكَۗ
rabbik.
your Lord
وَمَا
Wa-mal
And not
ٱللَّهُ
laahu
(is) Allah
بِغَٰفِلٍ
big̣aafilin
unaware
عَمَّا
ʻammaa
of what
تَعۡمَلُونَ
taʻmaloon.
you do
١٤٩
2:150
وَمِنۡ
Wa-min
And from
حَيۡثُ
ḥays̤u
wherever
خَرَجۡتَ
kharajta
you start forth
فَوَلِّ
fawalli
[so] turn
وَجۡهَكَ
wajhaka
your face
شَطۡرَ
shaṭral
(in the) direction
ٱلۡمَسۡجِدِ
Masjidil
(of) Al-Masjid
ٱلۡحَرَامِۚ
haraam;
Al-Haraam
وَحَيۡثُ
waḥays̤u
And wherever
مَا
maa-
that
كُنتُمۡ
kuntum
you (all) are
فَوَلُّواْ
fawalloo
[so] turn
وُجُوهَكُمۡ
Wujoohakum
your faces
شَطۡرَهُۥ
shaṭrahoo
(in) its direction
لِئَلَّا
liʹallaa
so that not
يَكُونَ
yakoona
will be
لِلنَّاسِ
linnaasi
for the people
عَلَيۡكُمۡ
ʻalaykum
against you
حُجَّةٌ
hujjatun
any argument
إِلَّا
ʹillal
except
ٱلَّذِينَ
laẓeena
those who
ظَلَمُواْ
z̤̣alamoo
wronged
مِنۡهُمۡ
minhum;
among them
فَلَا
falaaa
so (do) not
تَخۡشَوۡهُمۡ
takhshawhum
fear them
وَٱخۡشَوۡنِي
wakhshawnee;
but fear Me
وَلِأُتِمَّ
wa-liʹutimma
And that I complete
نِعۡمَتِي
niʻmatee
My favor
عَلَيۡكُمۡ
ʻalaykum
upon you
وَلَعَلَّكُمۡ
Wa-laʻallakum
[and] so that you may
تَهۡتَدُونَ
tahtadoon.
(be) guided
١٥٠
