سَأَلۡتُكَ

I ask you
عَن

baʻdahaa
after it
فَلَا
falaa
then (do) not
تُصَٰحِبۡنِيۖ
tuṣaaḥibnee:
keep me as a companion
قَدۡ
q̣ad
Verily
بَلَغۡتَ
balag̣ta
you have reached
مِن
mil
from me
لَّدُنِّي
ladunnee
from me
عُذۡرٗا
ʻuẓraa.
an excuse
٧٦
18:77
فَٱنطَلَقَا
Fañṭalaq̣aa:
So they set out
حَتَّىٰٓ
Ḥattaaa
until
إِذَآ
ʹiẓaaa
when
أَتَيَآ
ʹatayaaa
they came
أَهۡلَ
ʹahla
(to the) people
قَرۡيَةٍ
q̣aryatinis
(of) a town
ٱسۡتَطۡعَمَآ
taṭʻamaaa
they asked for food
أَهۡلَهَا
ʹahlahaa
(from) its people
فَأَبَوۡاْ
faʹabaw
but they refused
أَن
ʹañy
to
يُضَيِّفُوهُمَا
yuḍayyifoohumaa
offer them hospitality
فَوَجَدَا
fawajadaa
Then they found
فِيهَا
feehaa
in it
جِدَارٗا
jidaarañy
a wall
يُرِيدُ
yureedu
(that) want(ed)
أَن
ʹañy
to
يَنقَضَّ
yañq̣aḍḍa
collapse
فَأَقَامَهُۥۖ
faʹaq̣aamah.
so he set it straight
قَالَ
Q̣aala
He said
لَوۡ
law
If
شِئۡتَ
shiʹta
you wished
لَتَّخَذۡتَ
lattakhaẓta
surely you (could) have taken
عَلَيۡهِ
ʻalayhi
for it
أَجۡرٗا
ʹajraa.
a payment
٧٧
18:78
قَالَ
Q̣aala
He said
هَٰذَا
haaẓaa
This
فِرَاقُ
firaaq̣u
(is) parting
بَيۡنِي
baynee
between me
وَبَيۡنِكَۚ
wa-baynik:
and between you
سَأُنَبِّئُكَ
saʹunabbiʹuka
I will inform you
بِتَأۡوِيلِ
bitaʹweeli
of (the) interpretation
مَا
maa-
(of) what
لَمۡ
lam
not
تَسۡتَطِع
tastaṭiʻ
you were able
عَّلَيۡهِ
ʻalayhi
on it
صَبۡرًا
ṣabraa.
(to have) patience
٧٨
18:79
أَمَّا
ʹAmmas
As for
ٱلسَّفِينَةُ
safeenatu
the ship
فَكَانَتۡ
fakaanat
it was
لِمَسَٰكِينَ
limasaakeena
of (the) poor people
يَعۡمَلُونَ
yaʻmaloona
working
فِي
fil
in
ٱلۡبَحۡرِ
baḥri
the sea
فَأَرَدتُّ
faʹarattu
So I intended
أَنۡ
ʹan
that
أَعِيبَهَا
ʹaʻeebahaa
I cause defect (in) it
وَكَانَ
wa-kaana
(as there) was
وَرَآءَهُم
wa-raaaʹahum
after them
مَّلِكٞ
malikuñy
a king
يَأۡخُذُ
yaʹkhuẓu
who seized
كُلَّ
kulla
every
سَفِينَةٍ
safeenatin
ship
غَصۡبٗا
g̣aṣbaa.
(by) force
٧٩
18:80
وَأَمَّا
Wa-ʹammal
And as for
ٱلۡغُلَٰمُ
g̣ulaamu
the boy
فَكَانَ
fakaana
his parents were
أَبَوَاهُ
ʹabawaahu
his parents were
مُؤۡمِنَيۡنِ
Muʹminayni
believers
فَخَشِينَآ
fakhasheenaaa
and we feared
أَن
ʹañy
that
يُرۡهِقَهُمَا
yurhiq̣ahumaa
he would overburden them
طُغۡيَٰنٗا
ṭug̣yaanañw
(by) transgression
وَكُفۡرٗا
wakufraa.
and disbelief
٨٠
18:81
فَأَرَدۡنَآ
Faʹaradnaaa
So we intended
أَن
ʹañy
that
يُبۡدِلَهُمَا
yubdilahumaa
would change for them
رَبُّهُمَا
Rabbuhumaa
their Lord
خَيۡرٗا
khayram
a better
مِّنۡهُ
minhu
than him
زَكَوٰةٗ
zakaatañw
(in) purity
وَأَقۡرَبَ
waʹaq̣raba
and nearer
رُحۡمٗا
ruḥmaa.
(in) affection
٨١
18:82
وَأَمَّا
Wa-ʹammal
And as for
ٱلۡجِدَارُ
jidaaru
the wall
فَكَانَ
fakaana
it was
لِغُلَٰمَيۡنِ
lig̣ulaamayni
for two orphan boys
يَتِيمَيۡنِ
yateemayni
for two orphan boys
فِي
fil
in
ٱلۡمَدِينَةِ
Madeenati
the town
وَكَانَ
wa-kaana
and was
تَحۡتَهُۥ
taḥtahoo
underneath it
كَنزٞ
kañzul
a treasure
لَّهُمَا
lahumaa
for them
وَكَانَ
wa-kaana
and was
أَبُوهُمَا
ʹaboohumaa
their father
صَٰلِحٗا
ṣaaliḥaa:
righteous
فَأَرَادَ
faʹaraada
So intended
رَبُّكَ
Rabbuka
your Lord
أَن
ʹañy
that
يَبۡلُغَآ
yablug̣aaa
they reach
أَشُدَّهُمَا
ʹashuddahumaa
their maturity
وَيَسۡتَخۡرِجَا
wa-yastakhrijaa
and bring forth
كَنزَهُمَا
kañzahumaa
their treasure
رَحۡمَةٗ
raḥmatam
(as) a mercy
مِّن
mir
from
رَّبِّكَۚ
Rabbik.
your Lord
وَمَا
Wa-maa
And not
فَعَلۡتُهُۥ
faʻaltuhoo
I did it
عَنۡ
ʻan
on
أَمۡرِيۚ
ʹamree.
my (own) accord
ذَٰلِكَ
Ẓaalika
That
تَأۡوِيلُ
taʹweelu
(is the) interpretation
مَا
maa-
(of) what
لَمۡ
lam
not
تَسۡطِع
tasṭiʻ
you were able
عَّلَيۡهِ
ʻalayhi
on it
صَبۡرٗا
ṣabraa.
(to have) patience
٨٢
18:83
وَيَسۡـَٔلُونَكَ
Wa-yasʹaloonaka
And they ask you
عَن
ʻañ
about
ذِي
Ẓil
Dhul-qarnain
ٱلۡقَرۡنَيۡنِۖ
Q̣arnayn.
Dhul-qarnain
قُلۡ
Q̣ul
Say
سَأَتۡلُواْ
saʹatloo
I will recite
عَلَيۡكُم
ʻalaykum
to you
مِّنۡهُ
minhu
about him
ذِكۡرًا
ẓikraa.
a remembrance
٨٣

18:84
إِنَّا
ʹInnaa
Indeed We
مَكَّنَّا
makkannaa
[We] established
لَهُۥ
lahoo
[for] him
فِي
fil
in
ٱلۡأَرۡضِ
ʹarḍi
the earth
وَءَاتَيۡنَٰهُ
wa-ʹaataynaahu
and We gave him
مِن
miñ
of
كُلِّ
kulli
every
شَيۡءٖ
shayʹiñ
thing
سَبَبٗا
sababaa.
a means
٨٤
18:85
فَأَتۡبَعَ
Faʹatbaʻa
So he followed
سَبَبًا
sababaa.
a course
٨٥
18:86
حَتَّىٰٓ
Ḥattaaa
Until
إِذَا
ʹiẓaa
when
بَلَغَ
balag̣a
he reached
مَغۡرِبَ
mag̣ribash
(the) setting place
ٱلشَّمۡسِ
shamsi
(of) the sun
وَجَدَهَا
wajadahaa
he found it
تَغۡرُبُ
tag̣rubu
setting
فِي
fee
in
عَيۡنٍ
ʻaynin
a spring
حَمِئَةٖ
ḥamiʹatiñw
(of) dark mud
وَوَجَدَ
wawajada
and he found
عِندَهَا
ʻiñdahaa
near it
قَوۡمٗاۖ
Q̣awmaa.
a community
قُلۡنَا
Q̣ulnaa
We said
يَٰذَا
yaa-Ẓal
O Dhul-qarnain
ٱلۡقَرۡنَيۡنِ
Q̣arnayni
O Dhul-qarnain
إِمَّآ
ʹimmaaa
Either
أَن
ʹañ
[that]
تُعَذِّبَ
tuʻaẓẓiba
you punish
وَإِمَّآ
wa-ʹimmaaa
or
أَن
ʹañ
[that]
تَتَّخِذَ
tattakhiẓa
you take
فِيهِمۡ
feehim
[in] them
حُسۡنٗا
ḥusnaa.
(with) goodness
٨٦
18:87
قَالَ
Q̣aala
He said
أَمَّا
ʹammaa
As for
مَن
mañ
(one) who
ظَلَمَ
z̤̣alama
wrongs
فَسَوۡفَ
fasawfa
then soon
نُعَذِّبُهُۥ
nuʻaẓẓibuhoo
we will punish him
ثُمَّ
s̤umma
Then
يُرَدُّ
yuraddu
he will be returned
إِلَىٰ
ʹilaa
to
رَبِّهِۦ
Rabbihee
his Lord
فَيُعَذِّبُهُۥ
fayuʻaẓẓibuhoo
and He will punish him
عَذَابٗا
ʻaẓaaban
(with) a punishment
نُّكۡرٗا
nukraa.
terrible
٨٧
18:88
وَأَمَّا
Wa-ʹammaa
But as for
مَنۡ
man
(one) who
ءَامَنَ
ʹaamana
believes
وَعَمِلَ
wa-ʻamila
and does
صَٰلِحٗا
ṣaaliḥañ
righteous (deeds)
فَلَهُۥ
falahoo
then for him
جَزَآءً
jazaaaʹanil
(is) a reward
ٱلۡحُسۡنَىٰۖ
ḥusnaa,
good
وَسَنَقُولُ
wa-sanaq̣oolu
And we will speak
لَهُۥ
lahoo
to him
مِنۡ
min
from
أَمۡرِنَا
ʹamrinaa
our command
يُسۡرٗا
yusraa.
(with) ease
٨٨
18:89
ثُمَّ
S̤umma
Then
أَتۡبَعَ
ʹatbaʻa
he followed
سَبَبًا
sababaa.
(a) course
٨٩
18:90
حَتَّىٰٓ
Ḥattaaa
Until
إِذَا
ʹiẓaa
when
بَلَغَ
balag̣a
he reached
مَطۡلِعَ
maṭliʻash
(the) rising place
ٱلشَّمۡسِ
shamsi
(of) the sun
وَجَدَهَا
wajadahaa
and he found it
تَطۡلُعُ
taṭluʻu
rising
عَلَىٰ
ʻalaa
on
قَوۡمٖ
q̣awmil
a community
لَّمۡ
lam
not
نَجۡعَل
najʻal
We made
لَّهُم
lahum
for them
مِّن
miñ
against it
دُونِهَا
doonihaa
against it
سِتۡرٗا
sitraa.
any shelter
٩٠
18:91
كَذَٰلِكَۖ
Kaẓaalika
Thus
وَقَدۡ
wa-q̣ad
And verily
أَحَطۡنَا
ʹaḥaṭnaa
We encompassed
بِمَا
bimaa
of what
لَدَيۡهِ
ladayhi
(was) with him
خُبۡرٗا
khubraa.
(of the) information
٩١
18:92
ثُمَّ
S̤umma
Then
أَتۡبَعَ
ʹatbaʻa
he followed
سَبَبًا
sababaa,
a course
٩٢
18:93
حَتَّىٰٓ
Ḥattaaa
Until
إِذَا
ʹiẓaa
when
بَلَغَ
balag̣a
he reached
بَيۡنَ
baynas
between
ٱلسَّدَّيۡنِ
saddayni
the two mountains
وَجَدَ
wajada
he found
مِن
miñ
besides them
دُونِهِمَا
doonihimaa
besides them
قَوۡمٗا
q̣awmal
a community
لَّا
laa
not
يَكَادُونَ
yakaadoona
who would almost
يَفۡقَهُونَ
yafq̣ahoona
understand
قَوۡلٗا
q̣awlaa.
(his) speech
٩٣
18:94
قَالُواْ
Q̣aaloo
They said
يَٰذَا
yaa-Ẓal
O Dhul-qarnain
ٱلۡقَرۡنَيۡنِ
Q̣arnayni
O Dhul-qarnain
إِنَّ
ʹinna
Indeed
يَأۡجُوجَ
Yaʹjooja
Yajuj
وَمَأۡجُوجَ
wa-Maʹjooja
and Majuj
مُفۡسِدُونَ
mufsidoona
(are) corrupters
فِي
fil
in
ٱلۡأَرۡضِ
ʹarḍi
the land
فَهَلۡ
fahal
So may
نَجۡعَلُ
najʻalu
we make
لَكَ
laka
for you
خَرۡجًا
kharjan
an expenditure
عَلَىٰٓ
ʻalaaa
[on]
أَن
ʹañ
that
تَجۡعَلَ
tajʻala
you make
بَيۡنَنَا
baynanaa
between us
وَبَيۡنَهُمۡ
wa-baynahum
and between them
سَدّٗا
saddaa?
a barrier
٩٤
18:95
قَالَ
Q̣aala
He said
مَا
maa-
What
مَكَّنِّي
makkannee
has established me
فِيهِ
feehi
[in it]
رَبِّي
Rabbee
my Lord
خَيۡرٞ
khayruñ
(is) better
فَأَعِينُونِي
faʹaʻeenoonee
but assist me
بِقُوَّةٍ
biq̣uwwatin
with strength
أَجۡعَلۡ
ʹajʻal
I will make
بَيۡنَكُمۡ
baynakum
between you
وَبَيۡنَهُمۡ
wa-baynahum
and between them
رَدۡمًا
radmaa:
a barrier
٩٥
18:96
ءَاتُونِي
ʹAatoonee
Bring me
زُبَرَ
zubaral
sheets
ٱلۡحَدِيدِۖ
ḥadeed.
(of) iron
حَتَّىٰٓ
Ḥattaaa
until
إِذَا
ʹiẓaa
when
سَاوَىٰ
saawaa
he (had) leveled
بَيۡنَ
baynaṣ
between
ٱلصَّدَفَيۡنِ
ṣadafayni
the two cliffs
قَالَ
q̣aalañ
he said
ٱنفُخُواْۖ
fukhoo:
Blow
حَتَّىٰٓ
ḥattaaa
until
إِذَا
ʹiẓaa
when
جَعَلَهُۥ
jaʻalahoo
he made it
نَارٗا
naarañ
fire
قَالَ
q̣aala
he said
ءَاتُونِيٓ
ʹaatooneee
Bring me
أُفۡرِغۡ
ʹufrig̣
I pour
عَلَيۡهِ
ʻalayhi
over it
قِطۡرٗا
q̣iṭraa.
molten copper
٩٦
18:97
فَمَا
Famas
So not
ٱسۡطَٰعُوٓاْ
ṭaaʻooo
they were able
أَن
ʹañy
to
يَظۡهَرُوهُ
yaz̤̣haroohu
scale it
وَمَا
wa-mas
and not
ٱسۡتَطَٰعُواْ
taṭaaʻoo
they were able
لَهُۥ
lahoo
in it
نَقۡبٗا
naq̣baa.
(to do) any penetration
٩٧

قَالَ
Q̣aala
He said
هَٰذَا
haaẓaa
This
رَحۡمَةٞ
raḥmatum
(is) a mercy
مِّن
mir
from
رَّبِّيۖ
Rabbee:
my Lord
فَإِذَا
faʹiẓaa
But when
جَآءَ
jaaaʹa
comes
وَعۡدُ
waʻdu
(the) Promise
رَبِّي
Rabbee
(of) my Lord
جَعَلَهُۥ
jaʻalahoo
He will make it
دَكَّآءَۖ
dakkaaaʹ;
level
وَكَانَ
wa-kaana
And is
وَعۡدُ
waʻdu
(the) Promise
رَبِّي
Rabbee
(of) my Lord
حَقّٗا
ḥaq̣q̣aa.

٩٨
18:99
۞وَتَرَكۡنَا
Wa-taraknaa
And We (will) leave
بَعۡضَهُمۡ
baʻḍahum
some of them
يَوۡمَئِذٖ
Yawmaʹiẓiñy
(on) that Day
يَمُوجُ
yamooju
to surge
فِي
fee
over
بَعۡضٖۖ
baʻḍiñw
others
وَنُفِخَ
wanufikha
and (will be) blown
فِي
fiṣ
in
ٱلصُّورِ
Ṣoori
the trumpet
فَجَمَعۡنَٰهُمۡ
fajamaʻnaahum
then We (will) gather them
جَمۡعٗا
jamʻaa.
all together
٩٩
18:100
وَعَرَضۡنَا
Wa-ʻaraḍnaa
And We (will) present
جَهَنَّمَ
Jahannama
Hell
يَوۡمَئِذٖ
Yawmaʹiẓil
(on) that Day
لِّلۡكَٰفِرِينَ
lilkaafireena
to the disbelievers
عَرۡضًا
ʻarḍaa,―
(on) display
