ٱلۡحَمۡدُ
ʹAl-Ḥamdu
All Praise
لِلَّهِ
lillaahil
(is) for Allah
ٱلَّذِيٓ
laẓeee
the One Who
أَنزَلَ
ʹañzala
(has) revealed
عَلَىٰ
ʻalaa
to
عَبۡدِهِ
ʻAbdihil
His slave
ٱلۡكِتَٰبَ
Kitaaba
the Book
وَلَمۡ
wa-lam
and not
يَجۡعَل
yajʻal
(has) made
لَّهُۥ
lahoo
in it
عِوَجَاۜ
ʻiwajaa―
any crookedness
١
18:2
قَيِّمٗا
Q̣ayyimal
Straight
لِّيُنذِرَ
liyuñẓira
to warn
بَأۡسٗا
Baʹsañ
(of) a punishment
شَدِيدٗا
shadeedam
severe
مِّن
mil
from
لَّدُنۡهُ
ladunhu
near Him
وَيُبَشِّرَ
wa-yubashshiral
and give glad tidings
ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ
Muʹmineenal
(to) the believers
ٱلَّذِينَ
laẓeena
those who
يَعۡمَلُونَ
yaʻmaloonaṣ
do
ٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِ
ṣaalihaati
righteous deeds
أَنَّ
ʹanna
that
لَهُمۡ
lahum
for them
أَجۡرًا
ʹAjran
(is) a good reward
حَسَنٗا
ḥasanaa,
(is) a good reward
٢
18:3
مَّٰكِثِينَ
Maakis̤eena
(They will) abide
فِيهِ
feehi
in it
أَبَدٗا
ʹabadaa:
forever
٣
18:4
وَيُنذِرَ
Wa-yuñẓiral
And to warn
ٱلَّذِينَ
laẓeena
those who
قَالُواْ
q̣aalut
say
ٱتَّخَذَ
takhaẓal
Allah has taken
ٱللَّهُ
laahu
Allah has taken
وَلَدٗا
waladaa:
a son
٤

مَّا
Maa-
Not
لَهُم
lahum̃
they have
بِهِۦ
bihee
about it
مِنۡ
min
any
عِلۡمٖ
ʻilmiñw
knowledge
وَلَا
walaa
and not
لِأٓبَآئِهِمۡۚ
liʹaabaaaʹihim.
their forefathers
كَبُرَتۡ
Kaburat
Mighty (is)
كَلِمَةٗ
kalimatañ
the word
تَخۡرُجُ
takhruju
(that) comes out
مِنۡ
min
of
أَفۡوَٰهِهِمۡۚ
ʹafwaahihim.
their mouths
إِن
ʹIñy
Not
يَقُولُونَ
yaq̣ooloona
they say
إِلَّا
ʹillaa
except
كَذِبٗا
kaẓibaa.
a lie
٥
18:6
فَلَعَلَّكَ
Falaʻallaka
Then perhaps you would (be)
بَٰخِعٞ
baakhiʻun
the one who kills
نَّفۡسَكَ
nafsaka
yourself
عَلَىٰٓ
ʻalaaa
over
ءَاثَٰرِهِمۡ
ʹaas̤aarihim
their footsteps
إِن
ʹil
if
لَّمۡ
lam
not
يُؤۡمِنُواْ
yuʹminoo
they believe
بِهَٰذَا
bihaaẓal
in this
ٱلۡحَدِيثِ
Ḥadees̤i
[the] narration
أَسَفًا
ʹasafaa.
(in) grief
٦
18:7
إِنَّا
ʹInnaa
Indeed We
جَعَلۡنَا
jaʻalnaa
We have made
مَا
maa-
what
عَلَى
ʻalal
(is) on
ٱلۡأَرۡضِ
ʹarḍi
the earth
زِينَةٗ
zeenatal
adornment
لَّهَا
lahaa
for it
لِنَبۡلُوَهُمۡ
linabluwahum
that We may test [them]
أَيُّهُمۡ
ʹayyuhum
which of them
أَحۡسَنُ
ʹaḥsanu
(is) best
عَمَلٗا
ʻamalaa.
(in) deed
٧
18:8
وَإِنَّا
Wa-ʹinnaa
And indeed We
لَجَٰعِلُونَ
lajaaʻiloona
(will) surely make
مَا
maa-
what
عَلَيۡهَا
ʻalayhaa
(is) on it
صَعِيدٗا
ṣaʻeedañ
soil
جُرُزًا
juruzaa.
barren
٨
18:9
أَمۡ
ʹAm
Or
حَسِبۡتَ
ḥasibta
have you thought
أَنَّ
ʹanna
that
أَصۡحَٰبَ
ʹAṣḥaabal
(the) companions
ٱلۡكَهۡفِ
Kahfi
(of) the cave
وَٱلرَّقِيمِ
war-Raq̣eemi
and the inscription
كَانُواْ
kaanoo
were
مِنۡ
min
among
ءَايَٰتِنَا
ʹAayaatinaa
Our Signs
عَجَبًا
ʻajabaa?
a wonder
٩
18:10
إِذۡ
ʹIẓ
When
أَوَى
ʹawal
retreated
ٱلۡفِتۡيَةُ
fityatu
the youths
إِلَى
ʹilal
to
ٱلۡكَهۡفِ
Kahfi
the cave
فَقَالُواْ
faq̣aaloo
and they said
رَبَّنَآ
Rabbanaaa
Our Lord
ءَاتِنَا
ʹaatinaa
Grant us
مِن
mil
from
لَّدُنكَ
laduñka
Yourself
رَحۡمَةٗ
Raḥmatañw
Mercy
وَهَيِّئۡ
Wahayyiʹ
and facilitate
لَنَا
lanaa
for us
مِنۡ
min
[from]
أَمۡرِنَا
ʹamrinaa
our affair
رَشَدٗا
rashadaa!
(in the) right way
١٠
18:11
فَضَرَبۡنَا
Faḍarabnaa
So We cast
عَلَىٰٓ
ʻalaaa
over
ءَاذَانِهِمۡ
ʹaaẓaanihim
their ears
فِي
fil
in
ٱلۡكَهۡفِ
Kahfi
the cave
سِنِينَ
sineena
years
عَدَدٗا
ʻadadaa:
a number
١١
18:12
ثُمَّ
S̤umma
Then
بَعَثۡنَٰهُمۡ
baʻas̤naahum
We raised them up
لِنَعۡلَمَ
linaʻlama
that We make evident
أَيُّ
ʹayyul
which
ٱلۡحِزۡبَيۡنِ
ḥizbayni
(of) the two parties
أَحۡصَىٰ
ʹaḥṣaa
best calculated
لِمَا
limaa
for what
لَبِثُوٓاْ
labis̤ooo
(they had) remained
أَمَدٗا
ʹamadaa!
(in) time
١٢
18:13
نَّحۡنُ
Naḥnu
We
نَقُصُّ
naq̣uṣṣu
narrate
عَلَيۡكَ
ʻalayka
to you
نَبَأَهُم
nabaʹahum̃
their story
بِٱلۡحَقِّۚ
bil-Ḥaq̣q̣:
in truth
إِنَّهُمۡ
ʹinnahum
Indeed they (were)
فِتۡيَةٌ
fityatun
youths
ءَامَنُواْ
ʹaamanoo
who believed
بِرَبِّهِمۡ
bi-Rabbihim
in their Lord
وَزِدۡنَٰهُمۡ
wa-zidnaahum
and We increased them
هُدٗى
hudaa:
(in) guidance
١٣
18:14
وَرَبَطۡنَا
Wa-rabaṭnaa
And We made firm
عَلَىٰ
ʻalaa
[on]
قُلُوبِهِمۡ
q̣uloobihim
their hearts
إِذۡ
ʹiẓ
when
قَامُواْ
q̣aamoo
they stood up
فَقَالُواْ
faq̣aaloo
and said
رَبُّنَا
Rabbunaa
Our Lord
رَبُّ
Rabbus
(is) the Lord
ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ
samaawaati
(of) the heavens
وَٱلۡأَرۡضِ
wal-ʹarḍi
and the earth
لَن
lan
Never
نَّدۡعُوَاْ
nadʻuwa
we will invoke
مِن
miñ
besides Him
دُونِهِۦٓ
dooniheee
besides Him
إِلَٰهٗاۖ
ʹilaahal
any god
لَّقَدۡ
laq̣ad
Certainly
قُلۡنَآ
q̣ulnaaa
we would have said
إِذٗا
ʹiẓañ
then
شَطَطًا
shaṭaṭaa!
an enormity
١٤
18:15
هَٰٓؤُلَآءِ
Haaaʹulaaaʹi
These
قَوۡمُنَا
q̣awmunat
our people
ٱتَّخَذُواْ
takhaẓoo
have taken
مِن
miñ
besides Him
دُونِهِۦٓ
dooniheee
besides Him
ءَالِهَةٗۖ
ʹaalihah:
gods
لَّوۡلَا
Lawlaa-
Why not
يَأۡتُونَ
yaʹtoona
they come
عَلَيۡهِم
ʻalayhim̃
to them
بِسُلۡطَٰنِۭ
bisulṭaanim
with an authority
بَيِّنٖۖ
bayyin?
clear
فَمَنۡ
Faman
And who
أَظۡلَمُ
ʹaz̤̣lamu
(is) more wrong
مِمَّنِ
mimmanif
than (one) who
ٱفۡتَرَىٰ
taraa
invents
عَلَى
ʻalal
against
ٱللَّهِ
laahi
Allah
كَذِبٗا
kaẓibaa?
a lie

18:16
وَإِذِ
Wa-ʹiẓiʻtazal
And when
ٱعۡتَزَلۡتُمُوهُمۡ
tumoohum
you withdraw from them
وَمَا
wa-maa
and what
يَعۡبُدُونَ
yaʻbudoona
they worship
إِلَّا
ʹillal
except
ٱللَّهَ
laaha
Allah
فَأۡوُۥٓاْ
faʹwooo
then retreat
إِلَى
ʹilal
to
ٱلۡكَهۡفِ
Kahfi
the cave
يَنشُرۡ
yañshur
Will spread
لَكُمۡ
lakum
for you
رَبُّكُم
Rabbukum
your Lord
مِّن
mir
of
رَّحۡمَتِهِۦ
raḥmatihee
His Mercy
وَيُهَيِّئۡ
wa-yuhayyiʹ
and will facilitate
لَكُم
lakum
for you
مِّنۡ
min
[from]
أَمۡرِكُم
ʹamrikum
your affair
مِّرۡفَقٗا
mirfaq̣aa.
(in) ease
١٦
18:17
۞وَتَرَى
Wa-tarash
And you (might) have seen
ٱلشَّمۡسَ
shamsa
the sun
إِذَا
ʹiẓaa
when
طَلَعَت
ṭalaʻat
it rose
تَّزَٰوَرُ
tazaawaru
inclining away
عَن
ʻañ-
from
كَهۡفِهِمۡ
Kahfihim
their cave
ذَاتَ
ẓaatal
to
ٱلۡيَمِينِ
yameeni
the right
وَإِذَا
wa-ʹiẓaa
and when
غَرَبَت
g̣arabat
it set
تَّقۡرِضُهُمۡ
taq̣riḍuhum
passing away from them
ذَاتَ
ẓaatash
to
ٱلشِّمَالِ
shimaali
the left
وَهُمۡ
wa-hum
while they
فِي
fee
(lay) in
فَجۡوَةٖ
fajwatim
the open space
مِّنۡهُۚ
minh.
thereof
ذَٰلِكَ
Ẓaalika
That
مِنۡ
min
(was) from
ءَايَٰتِ
ʹAayaatil
(the) Signs
ٱللَّهِۗ
laah:
(of) Allah
مَن
mañy
Whoever
يَهۡدِ
yahdil
Allah guides
ٱللَّهُ
laahu
Allah guides
فَهُوَ
fahuwal
and he
ٱلۡمُهۡتَدِۖ
muhtad;
(is) the guided one
وَمَن
wa-mañy
and whoever
يُضۡلِلۡ
yuḍlil
He lets go astray
فَلَن
falañ
then never
تَجِدَ
tajida
you will find
لَهُۥ
lahoo
for him
وَلِيّٗا
waliyyam
a protector
مُّرۡشِدٗا
murshidaa.
a guide
١٧
18:18
وَتَحۡسَبُهُمۡ
Wa-taḥsabuhum
And you (would) think them
أَيۡقَاظٗا
ʹayq̣aaz̤̣añw
awake
وَهُمۡ
Wahum
while they
رُقُودٞۚ
ruq̣ood:
(were) asleep
وَنُقَلِّبُهُمۡ
wa-nuq̣allibuhum
And We turned them
ذَاتَ
ẓaatal
to
ٱلۡيَمِينِ
yameeni
the right
وَذَاتَ
waẓaatash
and to
ٱلشِّمَالِۖ
shimaal:
the left
وَكَلۡبُهُم
wa-kalbuhum̃
while their dog
بَٰسِطٞ
baasiṭuñ
stretched
ذِرَاعَيۡهِ
ẓiraaʻayhi
his two forelegs
بِٱلۡوَصِيدِۚ
bilwaṣeed:
at the entrance
لَوِ
lawiṭ
If
ٱطَّلَعۡتَ
ṭalaʻta
you had looked
عَلَيۡهِمۡ
ʻalayhim
at them
لَوَلَّيۡتَ
lawallayta
you (would) have surely turned back
مِنۡهُمۡ
minhum
from them
فِرَارٗا
firaarañw
(in) flight
وَلَمُلِئۡتَ
wala-Muliʹta
and surely you would have been filled
مِنۡهُمۡ
minhum
by them
رُعۡبٗا
ruʻbaa.
(with) terror
١٨
18:19
وَكَذَٰلِكَ
Wa-kaẓaalika
And similarly
بَعَثۡنَٰهُمۡ
baʻas̤naahum
We raised them
لِيَتَسَآءَلُواْ
liyatasaaaʹaloo
that they might question
بَيۡنَهُمۡۚ
baynahum.
among them
قَالَ
Q̣aala
Said
قَآئِلٞ
q̣aaaʹilum
a speaker
مِّنۡهُمۡ
minhum
among them
كَمۡ
kam
How long
لَبِثۡتُمۡۖ
labis̤tum?
have you remained
قَالُواْ
Q̣aaloo
They said
لَبِثۡنَا
labis̤naa
We have remained
يَوۡمًا
yawman
a day
أَوۡ
ʹaw
or
بَعۡضَ
baʻḍa
a part
يَوۡمٖۚ
yawm.
(of) a day
قَالُواْ
Q̣aaloo
They said
رَبُّكُمۡ
Rabbukum
Your Lord
أَعۡلَمُ
ʹaʻlamu
knows best
بِمَا
bimaa
how long
لَبِثۡتُمۡ
labis̤tum....
you have remained
فَٱبۡعَثُوٓاْ
Fabʻas̤ooo
So send
أَحَدَكُم
ʹaḥadakum̃
one of you
بِوَرِقِكُمۡ
biwariq̣ikum
with this silver coin of yours
هَٰذِهِۦٓ
haaẓiheee
with this silver coin of yours
إِلَى
ʹilal
to
ٱلۡمَدِينَةِ
madeenati
the city
فَلۡيَنظُرۡ
falyañz̤̣ur
and let him see
أَيُّهَآ
ʹayyuhaaa
which is
أَزۡكَىٰ
ʹazkaa
the purest
طَعَامٗا
ṭaʻaamañ
food
فَلۡيَأۡتِكُم
falyaʹtikum̃
and let him bring to you
بِرِزۡقٖ
birizq̣im
provision
مِّنۡهُ
minhu
from it
وَلۡيَتَلَطَّفۡ
walyatalaṭṭaf
and let him be cautious
وَلَا
wa-laa
And let not be aware
يُشۡعِرَنَّ
yushʻiranna
And let not be aware
بِكُمۡ
bikum
about you
أَحَدًا
ʹaḥadaa.
anyone
١٩
18:20
إِنَّهُمۡ
ʹInnahum
Indeed [they]
إِن
ʹiñy
if
يَظۡهَرُواْ
yaz̤̣haroo
they come to know
عَلَيۡكُمۡ
ʻalaykum
about you
يَرۡجُمُوكُمۡ
yarjumookum
they will stone you
أَوۡ
ʹaw
or
يُعِيدُوكُمۡ
yuʻeedookum
return you
فِي
fee
to
مِلَّتِهِمۡ
millatihim
their religion
وَلَن
wa-lañ
And never
تُفۡلِحُوٓاْ
tufliḥooo
will you succeed
إِذًا
ʹiẓan
then
أَبَدٗا
ʹabadaa.

18:21
وَكَذَٰلِكَ
Wa-kaẓalika
And similarly
أَعۡثَرۡنَا
ʹaʻs̤arnaa
We made known
عَلَيۡهِمۡ
ʻalayhim
about them
لِيَعۡلَمُوٓاْ
liyaʻlamooo
that they might know
أَنَّ
ʹanna
that
وَعۡدَ
waʻdal
(the) Promise
ٱللَّهِ
laahi
(of) Allah
حَقّٞ
ḥaq̣q̣uñw
(is) true
وَأَنَّ
waʹannas
and that
ٱلسَّاعَةَ
Saaʻata
(about) the Hour
لَا
laa-
(there is) no
رَيۡبَ
rayba
doubt
فِيهَآ
feehaa.
in it
إِذۡ
ʹIẓ
When
يَتَنَٰزَعُونَ
yatanaazaʻoona
they disputed
بَيۡنَهُمۡ
baynahum
among themselves
أَمۡرَهُمۡۖ
ʹamrahum
about their affair
فَقَالُواْ
faq̣aalub
and they said
ٱبۡنُواْ
noo
Construct
عَلَيۡهِم
ʻalayhim̃
over them
بُنۡيَٰنٗاۖ
bunyaanaa:
a structure
رَّبُّهُمۡ
Rabbuhum
Their Lord
أَعۡلَمُ
ʹaʻlamu
knows best
بِهِمۡۚ
bihim:
about them
قَالَ
q̣aalal
Said
ٱلَّذِينَ
laẓeena
those who
غَلَبُواْ
g̣alaboo
prevailed
عَلَىٰٓ
ʻalaaa
in
أَمۡرِهِمۡ
ʹamrihim
their matter
لَنَتَّخِذَنَّ
lanattakhiẓanna
Surely we will take
عَلَيۡهِم
ʻalayhim
over them
مَّسۡجِدٗا
masjidaa.
a place of worship
٢١
18:22
سَيَقُولُونَ
Sayaq̣ooloona
They say
ثَلَٰثَةٞ
s̤alaas̤atur
(they were) three
رَّابِعُهُمۡ
raabiʻuhum
the forth of them
كَلۡبُهُمۡ
kalbuhum:
their dog
وَيَقُولُونَ
wa-yaq̣ooloona
and they say
خَمۡسَةٞ
khamsatuñ
(they were) five
سَادِسُهُمۡ
saadisuhum
the sixth of them
كَلۡبُهُمۡ
kalbuhum
their dog
رَجۡمَۢا
rajmam
guessing
بِٱلۡغَيۡبِۖ
bilg̣ayb;
about the unseen
وَيَقُولُونَ
wa-yaq̣ooloona
and they say
سَبۡعَةٞ
sabʻatuñw
(they were) seven
وَثَامِنُهُمۡ
was̤aaminuhum
and the eight of them
كَلۡبُهُمۡۚ
kalbuhum.
their dog
قُل
Q̣ur
Say
رَّبِّيٓ
Rabbeee
My Lord
أَعۡلَمُ
ʹaʻlamu
knows best
بِعِدَّتِهِم
biʻiddatihim
their number
مَّا
maa
None
يَعۡلَمُهُمۡ
yaʻlamuhum
knows them
إِلَّا
ʹillaa
except
قَلِيلٞۗ
q̣aleel.
a few
فَلَا
Falaa
So (do) not
تُمَارِ
tumaari
argue
فِيهِمۡ
feehim
about them
إِلَّا
ʹillaa
except
مِرَآءٗ
miraaaʹañ
(with) an argument
ظَٰهِرٗا
z̤̣aahiraa,
obvious
وَلَا
wa-laa
and (do) not
تَسۡتَفۡتِ
tastafti
inquire
فِيهِم
feehim
about them
مِّنۡهُمۡ
minhum
among them
أَحَدٗا
ʹaḥadaa.
(from) anyone
٢٢
18:23
وَلَا
Wa-laa
And (do) not
تَقُولَنَّ
taq̣oolanna
say
لِشَاْيۡءٍ
lishayʹin
of anything
إِنِّي
ʹinnee
Indeed I
فَاعِلٞ
faaʻiluñ
will do
ذَٰلِكَ
ẓaalika
that
غَدًا
g̣adaa,
tomorrow
٢٣
18:24
إِلَّآ
ʹIllaaa
Except
أَن
ʹañy
If
يَشَآءَ
yashaaaʹal
Allah wills
ٱللَّهُۚ
laah!
Allah wills
وَٱذۡكُر
Waẓkur
And remember
رَّبَّكَ
Rabbaka
your Lord
إِذَا
ʹiẓaa
when
نَسِيتَ
naseeta
you forget
وَقُلۡ
wa-q̣ul
and say
عَسَىٰٓ
ʻasaaa
Perhaps
أَن
ʹañy
[that]
يَهۡدِيَنِ
yahdiyani
will guide me
رَبِّي
Rabbee
my Lord
لِأَقۡرَبَ
liʹaq̣raba
to a nearer (way)
مِنۡ
min
than
هَٰذَا
haaẓaa
this
رَشَدٗا
rashadaa.
right way
٢٤
18:25
وَلَبِثُواْ
Wa-labis̤oo
And they remained
فِي
fee
in
كَهۡفِهِمۡ
Kahfihim
their cave
ثَلَٰثَ
s̤alaas̤a
(for) three
مِاْئَةٖ
miʹatiñ
hundred
سِنِينَ
sineena
years
وَٱزۡدَادُواْ
wazdaadoo
and add
تِسۡعٗا
tisʻaa.
nine
