the foundations
فَخَرَّ

so fell
عَلَيۡهِمُ

upon them
ٱلسَّقۡفُ
al-saqfu
the roof
مِن
min
from
فَوۡقِهِمۡ
fawqihim
above them
وَأَتَىٰهُمُ
wa-atahumu
and came to them
ٱلۡعَذَابُ
al-'adhabu
the punishment
مِنۡ
min
from
حَيۡثُ
haythu
where
لَا
la
they (did) not perceive
يَشۡعُرُونَ
yash'uruna
they (did) not perceive

ثُمَّ
thumma
Then
يَوۡمَ
yawma
(on) the Day
ٱلۡقِيَٰمَةِ
al-qiyamati
(of) the Resurrection
يُخۡزِيهِمۡ
yukh'zihim
He will disgrace them
وَيَقُولُ
wayaqulu
and say
أَيۡنَ
ayna
Where
شُرَكَآءِيَ
shurakaiya
(are) My partners
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhina
those (for) whom
كُنتُمۡ
kuntum
you used (to)
تُشَٰٓقُّونَ
tushaqquna
oppose
فِيهِمۡۚ
fihim
[in them]
قَالَ
qala
Will say
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhina
those who
أُوتُواْ
utu
were given
ٱلۡعِلۡمَ
al-'il'ma
the knowledge
إِنَّ
inna
Indeed
ٱلۡخِزۡيَ
al-khiz'ya
the disgrace
ٱلۡيَوۡمَ
al-yawma
this Day
وَٱلسُّوٓءَ
wal-sua
and evil
عَلَى
ala
(are) upon
ٱلۡكَٰفِرِينَ
al-kafirina
the disbelievers
٢٧
16:28
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhina
Those whom
تَتَوَفَّىٰهُمُ
tatawaffahumu
take them in death
ٱلۡمَلَٰٓئِكَةُ
al-malaikatu
the Angels
ظَالِمِيٓ
zalimi
(while) wronging
أَنفُسِهِمۡۖ
anfusihim
themselves
فَأَلۡقَوُاْ
fa-alqawu
then they would offer
ٱلسَّلَمَ
al-salama
the submission
مَا
ma
Not
كُنَّا
kunna
we were
نَعۡمَلُ
na'malu
doing
مِن
min
any
سُوٓءِۭۚ
suin
evil
بَلَىٰٓۚ
bala
Nay
إِنَّ
inna
indeed
ٱللَّهَ
al-laha
Allah
عَلِيمُۢ
alimun
(is) All-Knower
بِمَا
bima
of what
كُنتُمۡ
kuntum
you used (to)
تَعۡمَلُونَ
ta'maluna
do
٢٨
16:29
فَٱدۡخُلُوٓاْ
fa-ud'khulu
So enter
أَبۡوَٰبَ
abwaba
(the) gates
جَهَنَّمَ
jahannama
(of) Hell
خَٰلِدِينَ
khalidina
(to) abide forever
فِيهَاۖ
fiha
in it
فَلَبِئۡسَ
falabi'sa
Surely wretched
مَثۡوَى
mathwa
(is the) abode
ٱلۡمُتَكَبِّرِينَ
al-mutakabirina
(of) the arrogant
٢٩
16:30
۞وَقِيلَ
waqila
And it will be said
لِلَّذِينَ
lilladhina
to those who
ٱتَّقَوۡاْ
ittaqaw
fear Allah
مَاذَآ
madha
What
أَنزَلَ
anzala
has your Lord sent down
رَبُّكُمۡۚ
rabbukum
has your Lord sent down
قَالُواْ
qalu
They will say
خَيۡرٗاۗ
khayran
Good
لِّلَّذِينَ
lilladhina
For those who
أَحۡسَنُواْ
ahsanu
do good
فِي
fi
in
هَٰذِهِ
hadhihi
this
ٱلدُّنۡيَا
al-dun'ya
world
حَسَنَةٞۚ
hasanatun
(is) a good
وَلَدَارُ
waladaru
and the home
ٱلۡأٓخِرَةِ
al-akhirati
of the Hereafter
خَيۡرٞۚ
khayrun
(is) better
وَلَنِعۡمَ
walani'ma
And surely excellent
دَارُ
daru
(is) the home
ٱلۡمُتَّقِينَ
al-mutaqina
(of) the righteous
٣٠
16:31
جَنَّٰتُ
jannatu
Gardens
عَدۡنٖ
adnin
(of) Eden
يَدۡخُلُونَهَا
yadkhulunaha
which they will enter
تَجۡرِي
tajri
flows
مِن
min
from
تَحۡتِهَا
tahtiha
underneath them
ٱلۡأَنۡهَٰرُۖ
al-anharu
the rivers
لَهُمۡ
lahum
For them
فِيهَا
fiha
therein
مَا
ma
(will be) whatever
يَشَآءُونَۚ
yashauna
they wish
كَذَٰلِكَ
kadhalika
Thus
يَجۡزِي
yajzi
Allah rewards
ٱللَّهُ
al-lahu
Allah rewards
ٱلۡمُتَّقِينَ
al-mutaqina
the righteous
٣١
16:32
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhina
Those whom
تَتَوَفَّىٰهُمُ
tatawaffahumu
take them in death
ٱلۡمَلَٰٓئِكَةُ
al-malaikatu
the Angels
طَيِّبِينَ
tayyibina
(when they are) pure
يَقُولُونَ
yaquluna
saying
سَلَٰمٌ
salamun
Peace
عَلَيۡكُمُ
alaykumu
(be) upon you
ٱدۡخُلُواْ
ud'khulu
Enter
ٱلۡجَنَّةَ
al-janata
Paradise
بِمَا
bima
for what
كُنتُمۡ
kuntum
you used (to)
تَعۡمَلُونَ
ta'maluna
do

16:33
هَلۡ
hal
Do
يَنظُرُونَ
yanzuruna
they wait
إِلَّآ
illa
except
أَن
an
that
تَأۡتِيَهُمُ
tatiyahumu
(should) come to them
ٱلۡمَلَٰٓئِكَةُ
al-malaikatu
the Angels
أَوۡ
aw
or
يَأۡتِيَ
yatiya
(should) come
أَمۡرُ
amru
(the) Command
رَبِّكَۚ
rabbika
(of) your Lord
كَذَٰلِكَ
kadhalika
Thus
فَعَلَ
fa'ala
did
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhina
those who
مِن
min
(were) before them
قَبۡلِهِمۡۚ
qablihim
(were) before them
وَمَا
wama
And not
ظَلَمَهُمُ
zalamahumu
wronged them
ٱللَّهُ
al-lahu
Allah
وَلَٰكِن
walakin
but
كَانُوٓاْ
kanu
they were
أَنفُسَهُمۡ
anfusahum
themselves
يَظۡلِمُونَ
yazlimuna
wronging

16:34
فَأَصَابَهُمۡ
fa-asabahum
Then struck them
سَيِّـَٔاتُ
sayyiatu
(the) evil (results)
مَا
ma
(of) what
عَمِلُواْ
amilu
they did
وَحَاقَ
wahaqa
and surrounded
بِهِم
bihim
them
مَّا
ma
what
كَانُواْ
kanu
they used (to)
بِهِۦ
bihi
[of it]
يَسۡتَهۡزِءُونَ
yastahziuna
mock

وَقَالَ
waqala
And said
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhina
those who
أَشۡرَكُواْ
ashraku
associate partners (with Allah)
لَوۡ
law
If
شَآءَ
shaa
Allah (had) willed
ٱللَّهُ
al-lahu
Allah (had) willed
مَا
ma
not
عَبَدۡنَا
abadna
we (would) have worshipped
مِن
min
other than Him
دُونِهِۦ
dunihi
other than Him
مِن
min
any
شَيۡءٖ
shayin
thing
نَّحۡنُ
nahnu
we
وَلَآ
wala
and not
ءَابَآؤُنَا
abauna
our forefathers
وَلَا
wala
and not
حَرَّمۡنَا
harramna
we (would) have forbidden
مِن
min
other than Him
دُونِهِۦ
dunihi
other than Him
مِن
min
anything
شَيۡءٖۚ
shayin
anything
كَذَٰلِكَ
kadhalika
Thus
فَعَلَ
fa'ala
did
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhina
those who
مِن
min
(were) before them
قَبۡلِهِمۡۚ
qablihim
(were) before them
فَهَلۡ
fahal
Then is (there)
عَلَى
ala
on
ٱلرُّسُلِ
al-rusuli
the messengers
إِلَّا
illa
except
ٱلۡبَلَٰغُ
al-balaghu
the conveyance
ٱلۡمُبِينُ
al-mubinu
clear
٣٥
16:36
وَلَقَدۡ
walaqad
And certainly
بَعَثۡنَا
ba'athna
We sent
فِي
fi
into
كُلِّ
kulli
every
أُمَّةٖ
ummatin
nation
رَّسُولًا
rasulan
a Messenger
أَنِ
ani
that
ٱعۡبُدُواْ
u'budu
Worship
ٱللَّهَ
al-laha
Allah
وَٱجۡتَنِبُواْ
wa-ij'tanibu
and avoid
ٱلطَّٰغُوتَۖ
al-taghuta
the false deities
فَمِنۡهُم
famin'hum
Then among them
مَّنۡ
man
(were some) whom
هَدَى
hada
Allah guided
ٱللَّهُ
al-lahu
Allah guided
وَمِنۡهُم
wamin'hum
and among them
مَّنۡ
man
(were) some
حَقَّتۡ
haqqat
was justified
عَلَيۡهِ
alayhi
on them
ٱلضَّلَٰلَةُۚ
al-dalalatu
the straying
فَسِيرُواْ
fasiru
So travel
فِي
fi
in
ٱلۡأَرۡضِ
al-ardi
the earth
فَٱنظُرُواْ
fa-unzuru
and see
كَيۡفَ
kayfa
how
كَانَ
kana
was
عَٰقِبَةُ
aqibatu
the end
ٱلۡمُكَذِّبِينَ
al-mukadhibina
(of) the deniers
٣٦
16:37
إِن
in
If
تَحۡرِصۡ
tahris
you desire
عَلَىٰ
ala
[for]
هُدَىٰهُمۡ
hudahum
their guidance
فَإِنَّ
fa-inna
then indeed
ٱللَّهَ
al-laha
Allah
لَا
la
(will) not
يَهۡدِي
yahdi
guide
مَن
man
whom
يُضِلُّۖ
yudillu
He lets go astray
وَمَا
wama
and not (are)
لَهُم
lahum
for them
مِّن
min
any
نَّٰصِرِينَ
nasirina
helpers
٣٧
16:38
وَأَقۡسَمُواْ
wa-aqsamu
And they swear
بِٱللَّهِ
bil-lahi
by Allah
جَهۡدَ
jahda
strongest
أَيۡمَٰنِهِمۡ
aymanihim
(of) their oaths
لَا
la
Allah will not resurrect
يَبۡعَثُ
yab'athu
Allah will not resurrect
ٱللَّهُ
al-lahu
Allah will not resurrect
مَن
man
(one) who
يَمُوتُۚ
yamutu
dies
بَلَىٰ
bala
Nay
وَعۡدًا
wa'dan
(it is) a promise
عَلَيۡهِ
alayhi
upon Him
حَقّٗا
haqqan
(in) truth
وَلَٰكِنَّ
walakinna
but
أَكۡثَرَ
akthara
most
ٱلنَّاسِ
al-nasi
(of) the mankind
لَا
la
(do) not
يَعۡلَمُونَ
ya'lamuna
know
٣٨
16:39
لِيُبَيِّنَ
liyubayyina
That He will make clear
لَهُمُ
lahumu
to them
ٱلَّذِي
alladhi
that
يَخۡتَلِفُونَ
yakhtalifuna
they differ
فِيهِ
fihi
wherein
وَلِيَعۡلَمَ
waliya'lama
and that may know
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhina
those who
كَفَرُوٓاْ
kafaru
disbelieved
أَنَّهُمۡ
annahum
that they
كَانُواْ
kanu
were
كَٰذِبِينَ
kadhibina
liars
٣٩
16:40
إِنَّمَا
innama
Only
قَوۡلُنَا
qawluna
Our Word
لِشَيۡءٍ
lishayin
to a thing
إِذَآ
idha
when
أَرَدۡنَٰهُ
aradnahu
We intend it
أَن
an
(is) that
نَّقُولَ
naqula
We say
لَهُۥ
lahu
to it
كُن
kun
Be
فَيَكُونُ
fayakunu
and it is
٤٠
16:41
وَٱلَّذِينَ
wa-alladhina
And those who
هَاجَرُواْ
hajaru
emigrated
فِي
fi
in (the way)
ٱللَّهِ
al-lahi
(of) Allah
مِنۢ
min
after
بَعۡدِ
ba'di
after
مَا
ma
[what]
ظُلِمُواْ
zulimu
they were wronged
لَنُبَوِّئَنَّهُمۡ
lanubawwi-annahum
surely We will give them position
فِي
fi
in
ٱلدُّنۡيَا
al-dun'ya
the world
حَسَنَةٗۖ
hasanatan
good
وَلَأَجۡرُ
wala-ajru
but surely the reward
ٱلۡأٓخِرَةِ
al-akhirati
(of) the Hereafter
أَكۡبَرُۚ
akbaru
(is) greater
لَوۡ
law
if
كَانُواْ
kanu
they
يَعۡلَمُونَ
ya'lamuna
know
٤١
16:42
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhina
Those who
صَبَرُواْ
sabaru
(are) patient
وَعَلَىٰ
wa'ala
and on
رَبِّهِمۡ
rabbihim
their Lord
يَتَوَكَّلُونَ
yatawakkaluna
they put their trust
٤٢

وَمَآ
wama
And not
أَرۡسَلۡنَا
arsalna
We sent
مِن
min
before you
قَبۡلِكَ
qablika
before you
إِلَّا
illa
except
رِجَالٗا
rijalan
men
نُّوحِيٓ
nuhi
We revealed
إِلَيۡهِمۡۖ
ilayhim
to them
فَسۡـَٔلُوٓاْ
fasalu
so ask
أَهۡلَ
ahla
(the) people
ٱلذِّكۡرِ
al-dhik'ri
(of) the Reminder
إِن
in
if
كُنتُمۡ
kuntum
you
لَا
la
(do) not
تَعۡلَمُونَ
ta'lamuna
know
٤٣
16:44
بِٱلۡبَيِّنَٰتِ
bil-bayinati
With the clear proofs
وَٱلزُّبُرِۗ
wal-zuburi
and the Books
وَأَنزَلۡنَآ
wa-anzalna
And We sent down
إِلَيۡكَ
ilayka
to you
ٱلذِّكۡرَ
al-dhik'ra
the Remembrance
لِتُبَيِّنَ
litubayyina
that you may make clear
لِلنَّاسِ
lilnnasi
to the mankind
مَا
ma
what
نُزِّلَ
nuzzila
has been sent down
إِلَيۡهِمۡ
ilayhim
to them
وَلَعَلَّهُمۡ
wala'allahum
and that they may
يَتَفَكَّرُونَ
yatafakkaruna
reflect
٤٤
16:45
أَفَأَمِنَ
afa-amina
Do then feel secure
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhina
those who
مَكَرُواْ
makaru
plotted
ٱلسَّيِّـَٔاتِ
al-sayiati
the evil deeds
أَن
an
that
يَخۡسِفَ
yakhsifa
Allah will cave
ٱللَّهُ
al-lahu
Allah will cave
بِهِمُ
bihimu
with them
ٱلۡأَرۡضَ
al-arda
the earth
أَوۡ
aw
or
يَأۡتِيَهُمُ
yatiyahumu
will come to them
ٱلۡعَذَابُ
al-'adhabu
the punishment
مِنۡ
min
from
حَيۡثُ
haythu
where
لَا
la
not
يَشۡعُرُونَ
yash'uruna
they perceive
٤٥
16:46
أَوۡ
aw
Or
يَأۡخُذَهُمۡ
yakhudhahum
that He may seize them
فِي
fi
in
تَقَلُّبِهِمۡ
taqallubihim
their going to and fro
فَمَا
fama
then not
هُم
hum
they
بِمُعۡجِزِينَ
bimu'jizina
will be able to escape
٤٦
16:47
أَوۡ
aw
Or
يَأۡخُذَهُمۡ
yakhudhahum
that He may seize them
عَلَىٰ
ala
with
تَخَوُّفٖ
takhawwufin
a gradual wasting
فَإِنَّ
fa-inna
But indeed
رَبَّكُمۡ
rabbakum
your Lord
لَرَءُوفٞ
laraufun
(is) surely Full of Kindness
رَّحِيمٌ
rahimun
Most Merciful
٤٧
16:48
أَوَلَمۡ
awalam
Have not
يَرَوۡاْ
yaraw
they seen
إِلَىٰ
ila
[towards]
مَا
ma
what
خَلَقَ
khalaqa
Allah has created
ٱللَّهُ
al-lahu
Allah has created
مِن
min
from
شَيۡءٖ
shayin
a thing
يَتَفَيَّؤُاْ
yatafayya-u
Incline
ظِلَٰلُهُۥ
zilaluhu
their shadows
عَنِ
ani
to
ٱلۡيَمِينِ
al-yamini
the right
وَٱلشَّمَآئِلِ
wal-shamaili
and to the left
سُجَّدٗا
sujjadan
prostrating
لِّلَّهِ
lillahi
to Allah
وَهُمۡ
wahum
while they
دَٰخِرُونَ
dakhiruna
(are) humble
٤٨
16:49
وَلِلَّهِۤ
walillahi
And to Allah
يَسۡجُدُۤ
yasjudu
prostrate
مَا
ma
whatever
فِي
fi
(is) in
ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ
al-samawati
the heavens
وَمَا
wama
and whatever
فِي
fi
(is) in
ٱلۡأَرۡضِ
al-ardi
the earth
مِن
min
of
دَآبَّةٖ
dabbatin
moving creatures
وَٱلۡمَلَٰٓئِكَةُ
wal-malaikatu
and the Angels
وَهُمۡ
wahum
and they
لَا
la
(are) not
يَسۡتَكۡبِرُونَ
yastakbiruna
arrogant
٤٩
16:50
يَخَافُونَ
yakhafuna
They fear
رَبَّهُم
rabbahum
their Lord
مِّن
min
above them
فَوۡقِهِمۡ
fawqihim
above them
وَيَفۡعَلُونَ
wayaf 'aluna
and they do
مَا
ma
what
يُؤۡمَرُونَ۩
yu'maruna
they are commanded
٥٠
