لَيۡسَ
laysa
Not
لِوَقۡعَتِهَا
liwaq'atiha
at its occurrence
كَاذِبَةٌ
kadhibatun
a denial
٢
no one will be able to deny it has come

56:3
خَافِضَةٞ
khafidatun
Bringing down
رَّافِعَةٌ
rafi'atun
raising up
٣
bringing low and raising high

56:4
إِذَا
idha
When
رُجَّتِ
rujjati
will be shaken
ٱلۡأَرۡضُ
al-ardu
the earth
رَجّٗا
rajjan
(with) a shaking
٤
When the earth is shaken violently

56:5
وَبُسَّتِ
wabussati
And will be crumbled
ٱلۡجِبَالُ
al-jibalu
the mountains
بَسّٗا
bassan
(with awful) crumbling
٥
and the mountains are ground to powder

56:6
فَكَانَتۡ
fakanat
So they become
هَبَآءٗ
habaan
dust particles
مُّنۢبَثّٗا
munbathan
dispersing
٦
and turn to scattered dust

56:7
وَكُنتُمۡ
wakuntum
And you will become
أَزۡوَٰجٗا
azwajan
kinds
ثَلَٰثَةٗ
thalathatan
three
٧
then you will be sorted into three classes

فَأَصۡحَٰبُ
fa-ashabu
Then (the) companions
ٱلۡمَيۡمَنَةِ
al-maymanati
(of) the right
مَآ
ma
what
أَصۡحَٰبُ
ashabu
(are the) companions
ٱلۡمَيۡمَنَةِ
al-maymanati
(of) the right
٨
Those on the Right––what people they are

56:9
وَأَصۡحَٰبُ
wa-ashabu
And (the) companions
ٱلۡمَشۡـَٔمَةِ
al-mashamati
(of) the left
مَآ
ma
what
أَصۡحَٰبُ
ashabu
(are the) companions
ٱلۡمَشۡـَٔمَةِ
al-mashamati
(of) the left
٩
Those on the Left––what people they are

56:10
وَٱلسَّٰبِقُونَ
wal-sabiquna
And the foremost
ٱلسَّٰبِقُونَ
al-sabiquna
(are) the foremost
١٠
And those in front––ahead indeed

أُوْلَٰٓئِكَ
ulaika
Those
ٱلۡمُقَرَّبُونَ
al-muqarabuna
(are) the nearest ones

For these will be the ones brought nearest to God

فِي

In
جَنَّٰتِ
jannati
Gardens
ٱلنَّعِيمِ
al-na'imi
(of) Pleasure
١٢
in Gardens of Bliss

56:13
ثُلَّةٞ
thullatun
A company
مِّنَ
mina
of
ٱلۡأَوَّلِينَ
al-awalina
the former (people)
١٣
many from the past

56:14
وَقَلِيلٞ
waqalilun
And a few
مِّنَ
mina
of
ٱلۡأٓخِرِينَ
al-akhirina
the later (people)
١٤
and a few from later generations

56:15
عَلَىٰ
ala
On
سُرُرٖ
sururin
thrones
مَّوۡضُونَةٖ
mawdunatin
decorated
١٥
On couches of well-woven cloth
Translation 1260
56:16
مُّتَّكِـِٔينَ
muttakiina
Reclining
عَلَيۡهَا
alayha
on them
مُتَقَٰبِلِينَ
mutaqabilina
facing each other
١٦
they will sit facing each other

يَطُوفُ
yatufu
Will circulate
عَلَيۡهِمۡ
alayhim
among them
وِلۡدَٰنٞ
wil'danun
boys
مُّخَلَّدُونَ
mukhalladuna
immortal
١٧
everlasting youths will go round among them

56:18
بِأَكۡوَابٖ
bi-akwabin
With vessels
وَأَبَارِيقَ
wa-abariqa
and jugs
وَكَأۡسٖ
wakasin
and a cup
مِّن
min
from
مَّعِينٖ
ma'inin
a flowing stream
١٨
with glasses, flagons, and cups of a pure drink

56:19
لَّا
la
Not
يُصَدَّعُونَ
yusadda'una
they will get headache
عَنۡهَا
anha
therefrom
وَلَا
wala
and not
يُنزِفُونَ
yunzifuna
they will get intoxicated
١٩
that causes no headache or intoxication

56:20
وَفَٰكِهَةٖ
wafakihatin
And fruits
مِّمَّا
mimma
of what
يَتَخَيَّرُونَ
yatakhayyaruna
they select
٢٠
[there will be] any fruit they choose

56:21
وَلَحۡمِ
walahmi
And (the) flesh
طَيۡرٖ
tayrin
(of) fowls
مِّمَّا
mimma
of what
يَشۡتَهُونَ
yashtahuna
they desire
٢١
the meat of any bird they like

56:22
وَحُورٌ
wahurun
And fair ones
عِينٞ
inun
(with) large eyes
٢٢
and beautiful companions

56:23
كَأَمۡثَٰلِ
ka-amthali
Like
ٱللُّؤۡلُوِٕ
al-u'lu-i
pearls
ٱلۡمَكۡنُونِ
al-maknuni
well-protected
٢٣
like hidden pearls

56:24
جَزَآءَۢ
jazaan
A reward
بِمَا
bima
for what
كَانُواْ
kanu
they used (to)
يَعۡمَلُونَ
ya'maluna
do
٢٤
a reward for what they used to do

56:25
لَا
la
Not
يَسۡمَعُونَ
yasma'una
they will hear
فِيهَا
fiha
therein
لَغۡوٗا
laghwan
vain talk
وَلَا
wala
and not
تَأۡثِيمًا
tathiman
sinful (speech)
٢٥
They will hear no idle or sinful talk there

إِلَّا
illa
Except
قِيلٗا
qilan
a saying
سَلَٰمٗا
salaman
Peace
سَلَٰمٗا
salaman
Peace
٢٦
only clean and wholesome speech

56:27
وَأَصۡحَٰبُ
wa-ashabu
And (the) companions
ٱلۡيَمِينِ
al-yamini
(of) the right
مَآ
ma
what
أَصۡحَٰبُ
ashabu
(are the) companions
ٱلۡيَمِينِ
al-yamini
(of) the right
٢٧
Those on the Right, what people they are

فِي
fi
Among
سِدۡرٖ
sid'rin
lote trees
مَّخۡضُودٖ
makhdudin
thornless
٢٨
They will dwell amid thornless lote trees

وَطَلۡحٖ
watalhin
And banana trees
مَّنضُودٖ
mandudin
layered
٢٩
and clustered acacia

56:30
وَظِلّٖ
wazillin
And shade
مَّمۡدُودٖ
mamdudin
extended
٣٠
with spreading shade

56:31
وَمَآءٖ
wamain
And water
مَّسۡكُوبٖ
maskubin
poured forth
٣١
constantly flowing water

56:32
وَفَٰكِهَةٖ
wafakihatin
And fruit
كَثِيرَةٖ
kathiratin
abundant
٣٢
abundant fruits

56:33
لَّا
la
Not
مَقۡطُوعَةٖ
maqtu'atin
limited
وَلَا
wala
and not
مَمۡنُوعَةٖ
mamnu'atin
forbidden
٣٣
unfailing, unforbidden

56:34
وَفُرُشٖ
wafurushin
And (on) couches
مَّرۡفُوعَةٍ
marfu'atin
raised
٣٤
with incomparable companions

56:35
إِنَّآ
inna
Indeed We
أَنشَأۡنَٰهُنَّ
anshanahunna
[We] have produced them
إِنشَآءٗ
inshaan
(into) a creation
٣٥
We have specially created––

56:36
فَجَعَلۡنَٰهُنَّ
faja'alnahunna
And We have made them
أَبۡكَارًا
abkaran
virgins
٣٦
virginal

56:37
عُرُبًا
uruban
Devoted
أَتۡرَابٗا
atraban
equals in age
٣٧
loving, of matching age––

56:38
لِّأَصۡحَٰبِ
li-ashabi
For (the) companions
ٱلۡيَمِينِ
al-yamini
(of) the right
٣٨
for those on the Right

56:39
ثُلَّةٞ
thullatun
A company
مِّنَ
mina
of
ٱلۡأَوَّلِينَ
al-awalina
the former people
٣٩
many from the past

56:40
وَثُلَّةٞ
wathullatun
And a company
مِّنَ
mina
of
ٱلۡأٓخِرِينَ
al-akhirina
the later people
٤٠
and many from later generations

56:41
وَأَصۡحَٰبُ
wa-ashabu
And (the) companions
ٱلشِّمَالِ
al-shimali
(of) the left
مَآ
ma
what
أَصۡحَٰبُ
ashabu
(are the) companions
ٱلشِّمَالِ
al-shimali
(of) the left
٤١
But those on the Left, what people they are

56:42
فِي
fi
In
سَمُومٖ
samumin
scorching fire
وَحَمِيمٖ
wahamimin
and scalding water
٤٢
They will dwell amid scorching wind and scalding water

56:43
وَظِلّٖ
wazillin
And a shade
مِّن
min
of
يَحۡمُومٖ
yahmumin
black smoke
٤٣
in the shadow of black smoke

56:44
لَّا
la
Not
بَارِدٖ
baridin
cool
وَلَا
wala
and not
كَرِيمٍ
karimin
pleasant
٤٤
neither cool nor refreshing

56:45
إِنَّهُمۡ
innahum
Indeed they
كَانُواْ
kanu
were
قَبۡلَ
qabla
before
ذَٰلِكَ
dhalika
that
مُتۡرَفِينَ
mut'rafina
indulging in affluence
٤٥
Before, they overindulged in luxury

56:46
وَكَانُواْ
wakanu
And were
يُصِرُّونَ
yusirruna
persisting
عَلَى
ala
in
ٱلۡحِنثِ
al-hinthi
the sin
ٱلۡعَظِيمِ
al-'azimi
the great
٤٦
and persisted in great sin

56:47
وَكَانُواْ
wakanu
And they used (to)
يَقُولُونَ
yaquluna
say
أَئِذَا
a-idha
When
مِتۡنَا
mit'na
we die
وَكُنَّا
wakunna
and become
تُرَابٗا
turaban
dust
وَعِظَٰمًا
wa'izaman
and bones
أَءِنَّا
a-inna
will we
لَمَبۡعُوثُونَ
lamab'uthuna
surely be resurrected
٤٧
always saying, ‘What? When we are dead and have become dust and bones, shall we then be raised up

56:48
أَوَءَابَآؤُنَا
awaabauna
And also our fathers
ٱلۡأَوَّلُونَ
al-awaluna
former
٤٨
And our earliest forefathers too?’
Translation 1260
56:49
قُلۡ
qul
Say
إِنَّ
inna
Indeed
ٱلۡأَوَّلِينَ
al-awalina
the former
وَٱلۡأٓخِرِينَ
wal-akhirina
and the later people
٤٩
Say [Prophet], ‘The earliest and latest generations
Translation 1260
56:50
لَمَجۡمُوعُونَ
lamajmu'una
Surely will be gathered
إِلَىٰ
ila
for
مِيقَٰتِ
miqati
(the) appointment
يَوۡمٖ
yawmin
(of) a Day
مَّعۡلُومٖ
ma'lumin
well-known
٥٠
will all be gathered on a predetermined Day

ثُمَّ
thumma
Then
إِنَّكُمۡ
innakum
indeed you
أَيُّهَا
ayyuha
O those astray
ٱلضَّآلُّونَ
al-daluna
O those astray
ٱلۡمُكَذِّبُونَ
al-mukadhibuna
the deniers
٥١
and you who have gone astray and denied the truth

56:52
لَأٓكِلُونَ
laakiluna
Will surely eat
مِن
min
from
شَجَرٖ
shajarin
(the) tree
مِّن
min
of
زَقُّومٖ
zaqqumin
Zaqqum
٥٢
will eat from the bitter tree of Zaqqum

56:53
فَمَالِـُٔونَ
famaliuna
Then will fill
مِنۡهَا
min'ha
with it
ٱلۡبُطُونَ
al-butuna
the bellies
٥٣
filling your bellies with it
Translation 1260
56:54
فَشَٰرِبُونَ
fasharibuna
And drink
عَلَيۡهِ
alayhi
over it
مِنَ
mina
[from]
ٱلۡحَمِيمِ
al-hamimi
the scalding water
٥٤
and drink scalding water
Translation 1260
56:55
فَشَٰرِبُونَ
fasharibuna
And will drink
شُرۡبَ
shur'ba
(as) drinking
ٱلۡهِيمِ
al-himi
(of) the thirsty camels
٥٥
lapping it like thirsty camels.’

56:56
هَٰذَا
hadha
This
نُزُلُهُمۡ
nuzuluhum
(is) their hospitality
يَوۡمَ
yawma
(on the) Day
ٱلدِّينِ
al-dini
(of) Judgment
٥٦
This will be their welcome on the Day of Judgement

56:57
نَحۡنُ
nahnu
We
خَلَقۡنَٰكُمۡ
khalaqnakum
[We] created you
فَلَوۡلَا
falawla
so why (do) not
تُصَدِّقُونَ
tusaddiquna
you admit the truth
٥٧
It was We who created you: will you not believe

56:58
أَفَرَءَيۡتُم
afara-aytum
Do you see
مَّا
ma
what
تُمۡنُونَ
tum'nuna
you emit
٥٨
Consider [the semen] you eject
Translation 1260
56:59
ءَأَنتُمۡ
a-antum
Is it you
تَخۡلُقُونَهُۥٓ
takhluqunahu
who create it
أَمۡ
am
or
نَحۡنُ
nahnu
(are) We
ٱلۡخَٰلِقُونَ
al-khaliquna
the Creators
٥٩
do you create it yourselves or are We the Creator

56:60
نَحۡنُ
nahnu
We
قَدَّرۡنَا
qaddarna
[We] have decreed
بَيۡنَكُمُ
baynakumu
among you
ٱلۡمَوۡتَ
al-mawta
the death
وَمَا
wama
and not
نَحۡنُ
nahnu
We
بِمَسۡبُوقِينَ
bimasbuqina
(are) outrun
٦٠
We ordained death to be among you. Nothing could stop Us

56:61
عَلَىٰٓ
ala
In
أَن
an
that
نُّبَدِّلَ
nubaddila
We (will) change
أَمۡثَٰلَكُمۡ
amthalakum
your likeness[es]
وَنُنشِئَكُمۡ
wanunshi-akum
and produce you
فِي
fi
in
مَا
ma
what
لَا
la
not
تَعۡلَمُونَ
ta'lamuna
you know
٦١
if We intended to change you and recreate you in a way unknown to you

56:62
وَلَقَدۡ
walaqad
And certainly
عَلِمۡتُمُ
alim'tumu
you know
ٱلنَّشۡأَةَ
al-nashata
the creation
ٱلۡأُولَىٰ
al-ula
the first
فَلَوۡلَا
falawla
so why not
تَذَكَّرُونَ
tadhakkaruna
you take heed
٦٢
You have learned how you were first created: will you not reflect

56:63
أَفَرَءَيۡتُم
afara-aytum
And do you see
مَّا
ma
what
تَحۡرُثُونَ
tahruthuna
you sow
٦٣
Consider the seeds you sow in the ground

56:64
ءَأَنتُمۡ
a-antum
Is it you (who)
تَزۡرَعُونَهُۥٓ
tazra'unahu
cause it to grow
أَمۡ
am
or
نَحۡنُ
nahnu
(are) We
ٱلزَّٰرِعُونَ
al-zari'una
the Ones Who grow
٦٤
is it you who make them grow or We
Translation 1260
56:65
لَوۡ
law
If
نَشَآءُ
nashau
We willed
لَجَعَلۡنَٰهُ
laja'alnahu
We (would) surely make it
حُطَٰمٗا
hutaman
debris
فَظَلۡتُمۡ
fazaltum
then you would remain
تَفَكَّهُونَ
tafakkahuna
wondering
٦٥
If We wished, We could turn your harvest into chaff and leave you to wail

56:66
إِنَّا
inna
Indeed we
لَمُغۡرَمُونَ
lamugh'ramuna
surely are laden with debt
٦٦
‘We are burdened with debt

56:67
بَلۡ
bal
Nay
نَحۡنُ
nahnu
we
مَحۡرُومُونَ
mahrumuna
(are) deprived
٦٧
we are bereft.’

56:68
أَفَرَءَيۡتُمُ
afara-aytumu
Do you see
ٱلۡمَآءَ
al-maa
the water
ٱلَّذِي
alladhi
which
تَشۡرَبُونَ
tashrabuna
you drink
٦٨
Consider the water you drink
Translation 1260
56:69
ءَأَنتُمۡ
a-antum
Is it you
أَنزَلۡتُمُوهُ
anzaltumuhu
who send it down
مِنَ
mina
from
ٱلۡمُزۡنِ
al-muz'ni
the rain clouds
أَمۡ
am
or
نَحۡنُ
nahnu
We
ٱلۡمُنزِلُونَ
al-munziluna
(are) the Ones to send
٦٩
was it you who brought it down from the rain-cloud or We
Translation 1260
56:70
لَوۡ
law
If
نَشَآءُ
nashau
We willed
جَعَلۡنَٰهُ
ja'alnahu
We (could) make it
أُجَاجٗا
ujajan
salty
فَلَوۡلَا
falawla
then why are you not grateful
تَشۡكُرُونَ
tashkuruna
then why are you not grateful
٧٠
If We wanted, We could make it bitter: will you not be thankful

56:71
أَفَرَءَيۡتُمُ
afara-aytumu
Do you see
ٱلنَّارَ
al-nara
the Fire
ٱلَّتِي
allati
which
تُورُونَ
turuna
you ignite
٧١
Consider the fire you kindle
Translation 1260
56:72
ءَأَنتُمۡ
a-antum
Is it you
أَنشَأۡتُمۡ
anshatum
who produced
شَجَرَتَهَآ
shajarataha
its tree
أَمۡ
am
or
نَحۡنُ
nahnu
We
ٱلۡمُنشِـُٔونَ
al-munshiuna
(are) the Producers
٧٢
is it you who make the wood for it grow or We
Translation 1260
56:73
نَحۡنُ
nahnu
We
جَعَلۡنَٰهَا
ja'alnaha
have made it
تَذۡكِرَةٗ
tadhkiratan
a reminder
وَمَتَٰعٗا
wamata'an
and a provision
لِّلۡمُقۡوِينَ
lil'muq'wina
for the wayfarers in the desert
٧٣
We made it a reminder, and useful to those who kindle it

56:74
فَسَبِّحۡ
fasabbih
So glorify
بِٱسۡمِ
bi-is'mi
(the) name
رَبِّكَ
rabbika
(of) your Lord
ٱلۡعَظِيمِ
al-'azimi
the Most Great
٧٤
so [Prophet] glorify the name of your Lord, the Supreme
