Al-'Ankabut 29:23

ﲪﲫﲮﲴ
29:2
أَحَسِبَ
ahasiba
Do think
ٱلنَّاسُ
al-nasu
the people
أَن
an
that
يُتۡرَكُوٓاْ
yut'raku
they will be left
أَن
an
because
يَقُولُوٓاْ
yaqulu
they say
ءَامَنَّا
amanna
We believe
وَهُمۡ
wahum
and they
لَا
la
will not be tested
يُفۡتَنُونَ
yuf'tanuna
will not be tested
٢
Do people think they will be left alone after saying ‘We believe’ without being put to the test
Translation 1260
29:3
وَلَقَدۡ
walaqad
And indeed
فَتَنَّا
fatanna
We tested
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhina
those who
مِن
min
(were) before them
قَبۡلِهِمۡۖ
qablihim
(were) before them
فَلَيَعۡلَمَنَّ
falaya'lamanna
And Allah will surely make evident
ٱللَّهُ
al-lahu
And Allah will surely make evident
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhina
those who
صَدَقُواْ
sadaqu
(are) truthful
وَلَيَعۡلَمَنَّ
walaya'lamanna
and He will surely make evident
ٱلۡكَٰذِبِينَ
al-kadhibina
the liars
٣
We tested those who went before them: God will certainly mark out which ones are truthful and which are lying
Translation 1260
29:4
أَمۡ
am
Or
حَسِبَ
hasiba
think
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhina
those who
يَعۡمَلُونَ
ya'maluna
do
ٱلسَّيِّـَٔاتِ
al-sayiati
evil deeds
أَن
an
that
يَسۡبِقُونَاۚ
yasbiquna
they can outrun Us
سَآءَ
saa
Evil is
مَا
ma
what
يَحۡكُمُونَ
yahkumuna
they judge
٤
Do the evildoers think they can escape us? How ill they judge
Translation 1260
29:5
مَن
man
Whoever
كَانَ
kana
[is]
يَرۡجُواْ
yarju
hopes
لِقَآءَ
liqaa
(for the) meeting
ٱللَّهِ
al-lahi
(with) Allah
فَإِنَّ
fa-inna
then indeed
أَجَلَ
ajala
(the) Term
ٱللَّهِ
al-lahi
(of) Allah
لَأٓتٖۚ
laatin
(is) surely coming
وَهُوَ
wahuwa
And He
ٱلسَّمِيعُ
al-sami'u
(is) the All-Hearer
ٱلۡعَلِيمُ
al-'alimu
the All-Knower
٥
But as for those who strive for their meeting with God, God’s appointed time is bound to come; He is the All Seeing, the All Knowing
Translation 1260
29:6
وَمَن
waman
And whoever
جَٰهَدَ
jahada
strives
فَإِنَّمَا
fa-innama
then only
يُجَٰهِدُ
yujahidu
he strives
لِنَفۡسِهِۦٓۚ
linafsihi
for himself
إِنَّ
inna
Indeed
ٱللَّهَ
al-laha
Allah
لَغَنِيٌّ
laghaniyyun
(is) Free from need
عَنِ
ani
of
ٱلۡعَٰلَمِينَ
al-'alamina
the worlds
٦
Those who exert themselves do so for their own benefit––God does not need His creatures––

29:7
وَٱلَّذِينَ
wa-alladhina
And those who
ءَامَنُواْ
amanu
believe
وَعَمِلُواْ
wa'amilu
and do
ٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِ
al-salihati
righteous (deeds)
لَنُكَفِّرَنَّ
lanukaffiranna
surely We will remove
عَنۡهُمۡ
anhum
from them
سَيِّـَٔاتِهِمۡ
sayyiatihim
their evil deeds
وَلَنَجۡزِيَنَّهُمۡ
walanajziyannahum
and We will surely reward them
أَحۡسَنَ
ahsana
(the) best
ٱلَّذِي
alladhi
(of) what
كَانُواْ
kanu
they used
يَعۡمَلُونَ
ya'maluna
(to) do
٧
We shall certainly blot out the misdeeds of those who believe and do good deeds, and We shall reward them according to the best of their actions
Translation 1260
29:8
وَوَصَّيۡنَا
wawassayna
And We have enjoined
ٱلۡإِنسَٰنَ
al-insana
(on) man
بِوَٰلِدَيۡهِ
biwalidayhi
goodness to his parents
حُسۡنٗاۖ
hus'nan
goodness to his parents
وَإِن
wa-in
but if
جَٰهَدَاكَ
jahadaka
they both strive against you
لِتُشۡرِكَ
litush'rika
to make you associate
بِي
bi
with Me
مَا
ma
what
لَيۡسَ
laysa
not
لَكَ
laka
you have
بِهِۦ
bihi
of it
عِلۡمٞ
il'mun
any knowledge
فَلَا
fala
then (do) not
تُطِعۡهُمَآۚ
tuti'huma
obey both of them
إِلَيَّ
ilayya
To Me
مَرۡجِعُكُمۡ
marji'ukum
(is) your return
فَأُنَبِّئُكُم
fa-unabbi-ukum
and I will inform you
بِمَا
bima
about what
كُنتُمۡ
kuntum
you used
تَعۡمَلُونَ
ta'maluna
(to) do
٨
We have commanded people to be good to their parents, but do not obey them if they strive to make you serve, beside Me, anything of which you have no knowledge: you will all return to Me, and I shall inform you of what you have done
Translation 1260
29:9
وَٱلَّذِينَ
wa-alladhina
And those who
ءَامَنُواْ
amanu
believe
وَعَمِلُواْ
wa'amilu
and do
ٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِ
al-salihati
righteous deeds
لَنُدۡخِلَنَّهُمۡ
lanud'khilannahum
We will surely admit them
فِي
fi
among
ٱلصَّٰلِحِينَ
al-salihina
the righteous
٩
We shall be sure to admit those who believe and do good deeds to the ranks of the righteous
Translation 1260
29:10
وَمِنَ
wamina
And of
ٱلنَّاسِ
al-nasi
the people
مَن
man
(is he) who
يَقُولُ
yaqulu
says
ءَامَنَّا
amanna
We believe
بِٱللَّهِ
bil-lahi
in Allah
فَإِذَآ
fa-idha
But when
أُوذِيَ
udhiya
he is harmed
فِي
fi
in
ٱللَّهِ
al-lahi
(the Way of) Allah
جَعَلَ
ja'ala
he considers
فِتۡنَةَ
fit'nata
(the) trial
ٱلنَّاسِ
al-nasi
(of) the people
كَعَذَابِ
ka'adhabi
as (the) punishment
ٱللَّهِۖ
al-lahi
(of) Allah
وَلَئِن
wala-in
But if
جَآءَ
jaa
comes
نَصۡرٞ
nasrun
victory
مِّن
min
from
رَّبِّكَ
rabbika
your Lord
لَيَقُولُنَّ
layaqulunna
surely they say
إِنَّا
inna
Indeed we
كُنَّا
kunna
were
مَعَكُمۡۚ
ma'akum
with you
أَوَلَيۡسَ
awalaysa
Is not
ٱللَّهُ
al-lahu
Allah
بِأَعۡلَمَ
bi-a'lama
most knowing
بِمَا
bima
of what
فِي
fi
(is) in
صُدُورِ
suduri
(the) breasts
ٱلۡعَٰلَمِينَ
al-'alamina
(of) the worlds
١٠
There are some people who say, ‘We believe in God,’ but, when they suffer for His cause, they think that human persecution is as severe as God’s punishment––yet, if any help comes to you [Prophet] from your Lord, they will say, ‘We have always been with you’. Does God not know best what is in everyone’s hearts
Translation 1260
29:11
وَلَيَعۡلَمَنَّ
walaya'lamanna
And Allah will surely make evident
ٱللَّهُ
al-lahu
And Allah will surely make evident
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhina
those who
ءَامَنُواْ
amanu
believe
وَلَيَعۡلَمَنَّ
walaya'lamanna
And He will surely make evident
ٱلۡمُنَٰفِقِينَ
al-munafiqina
the hypocrites
١١
God will be sure to mark out which ones are the believers, and which the hypocrites
Translation 1260
29:12
وَقَالَ
waqala
And said
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhina
those who
كَفَرُواْ
kafaru
disbelieve
لِلَّذِينَ
lilladhina
to those who
ءَامَنُواْ
amanu
believe
ٱتَّبِعُواْ
ittabi'u
Follow
سَبِيلَنَا
sabilana
our way
وَلۡنَحۡمِلۡ
walnahmil
and we will carry
خَطَٰيَٰكُمۡ
khatayakum
your sins
وَمَا
wama
But not
هُم
hum
they
بِحَٰمِلِينَ
bihamilina
(are) going to carry
مِنۡ
min
of
خَطَٰيَٰهُم
khatayahum
their sins
مِّن
min
any
شَيۡءٍۖ
shayin
thing
إِنَّهُمۡ
innahum
Indeed they
لَكَٰذِبُونَ
lakadhibuna
(are) surely liars
١٢
Those who disbelieve say to the believers, ‘Follow our path and we shall bear [the consequences for] your sins,’ yet they will not do so––they are liars
Translation 1260
29:13
وَلَيَحۡمِلُنَّ
walayahmilunna
But surely they will carry
أَثۡقَالَهُمۡ
athqalahum
their burdens
وَأَثۡقَالٗا
wa-athqalan
and burdens
مَّعَ
ma'a
with
أَثۡقَالِهِمۡۖ
athqalihim
their burdens
وَلَيُسۡـَٔلُنَّ
walayus'alunna
and surely they will be questioned
يَوۡمَ
yawma
(on the) Day
ٱلۡقِيَٰمَةِ
al-qiyamati
(of) the Resurrection
عَمَّا
amma
about what
كَانُواْ
kanu
they used
يَفۡتَرُونَ
yaftaruna
(to) invent
١٣
They will bear their own burdens and others besides: they will be questioned about their false assertions on the Day of Resurrection
Translation 1260
29:14
وَلَقَدۡ
walaqad
And verily
أَرۡسَلۡنَا
arsalna
We sent
نُوحًا
nuhan
Nuh
إِلَىٰ
ila
to
قَوۡمِهِۦ
qawmihi
his people
فَلَبِثَ
falabitha
and he remained
فِيهِمۡ
fihim
among them
أَلۡفَ
alfa
a thousand
سَنَةٍ
sanatin
year(s)
إِلَّا
illa
save
خَمۡسِينَ
khamsina
fifty
عَامٗا
aman
year(s)
فَأَخَذَهُمُ
fa-akhadhahumu
then seized them
ٱلطُّوفَانُ
al-tufanu
the flood
وَهُمۡ
wahum
while they
ظَٰلِمُونَ
zalimuna
(were) wrongdoers
١٤
We sent Noah out to his people. He lived among them for fifty years short of a thousand but when the Flood overwhelmed them they were still doing evil

29:15
فَأَنجَيۡنَٰهُ
fa-anjaynahu
But We saved him
وَأَصۡحَٰبَ
wa-ashaba
and (the) people
ٱلسَّفِينَةِ
al-safinati
(of) the ship
وَجَعَلۡنَٰهَآ
waja'alnaha
and We made it
ءَايَةٗ
ayatan
a Sign
لِّلۡعَٰلَمِينَ
lil'alamina
for the worlds
١٥
We saved him and those with him on the Ark. We made this a sign for all people
Translation 1260
29:16
وَإِبۡرَٰهِيمَ
wa-ib'rahima
And Ibrahim
إِذۡ
idh
when
قَالَ
qala
he said
لِقَوۡمِهِ
liqawmihi
to his people
ٱعۡبُدُواْ
u'budu
Worship
ٱللَّهَ
al-laha
Allah
وَٱتَّقُوهُۖ
wa-ittaquhu
and fear Him
ذَٰلِكُمۡ
dhalikum
That
خَيۡرٞ
khayrun
(is) better
لَّكُمۡ
lakum
for you
إِن
in
if
كُنتُمۡ
kuntum
you
تَعۡلَمُونَ
ta'lamuna
know
١٦
We also sent Abraham. He said to his people, ‘Serve God and be mindful of Him: that is better for you, if only you knew
Translation 1260
29:17
إِنَّمَا
innama
Only
تَعۡبُدُونَ
ta'buduna
you worship
مِن
min
besides
دُونِ
duni
besides
ٱللَّهِ
al-lahi
Allah
أَوۡثَٰنٗا
awthanan
idols
وَتَخۡلُقُونَ
watakhluquna
and you create
إِفۡكًاۚ
if'kan
falsehood
إِنَّ
inna
Indeed
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhina
those whom
تَعۡبُدُونَ
ta'buduna
you worship
مِن
min
besides
دُونِ
duni
besides
ٱللَّهِ
al-lahi
Allah
لَا
la
(do) not
يَمۡلِكُونَ
yamlikuna
possess
لَكُمۡ
lakum
for you
رِزۡقٗا
riz'qan
any provision
فَٱبۡتَغُواْ
fa-ib'taghu
So seek
عِندَ
inda
from
ٱللَّهِ
al-lahi
Allah
ٱلرِّزۡقَ
al-riz'qa
the provision
وَٱعۡبُدُوهُ
wa-u'buduhu
and worship Him
وَٱشۡكُرُواْ
wa-ush'kuru
and be grateful
لَهُۥٓۖ
lahu
to Him
إِلَيۡهِ
ilayhi
To Him
تُرۡجَعُونَ
tur'ja'una
you will be returned
١٧
What you worship instead of God are mere idols; what you invent is nothing but falsehood. Those you serve instead of God have no power to give you provisions, so seek provisions from God, serve Him, and give Him thanks: you will all be returned to Him
Translation 1260
29:18
وَإِن
wa-in
And if
تُكَذِّبُواْ
tukadhibu
you deny
فَقَدۡ
faqad
then verily
كَذَّبَ
kadhaba
denied
أُمَمٞ
umamun
(the) nations
مِّن
min
before you
قَبۡلِكُمۡۖ
qablikum
before you
وَمَا
wama
And not
عَلَى
ala
(is) on
ٱلرَّسُولِ
al-rasuli
the Messenger
إِلَّا
illa
except
ٱلۡبَلَٰغُ
al-balaghu
the conveyance
ٱلۡمُبِينُ
al-mubinu
clear
١٨
If you say this is a lie, [be warned that] other communities before you said the same. The messenger’s only duty is to give clear warning.’
Translation 1260
29:19
أَوَلَمۡ
awalam
Do not
يَرَوۡاْ
yaraw
they see
كَيۡفَ
kayfa
how
يُبۡدِئُ
yub'di-u
Allah originates
ٱللَّهُ
al-lahu
Allah originates
ٱلۡخَلۡقَ
al-khalqa
the creation
ثُمَّ
thumma
then
يُعِيدُهُۥٓۚ
yu'iduhu
repeats it
إِنَّ
inna
Indeed
ذَٰلِكَ
dhalika
that
عَلَى
ala
for
ٱللَّهِ
al-lahi
Allah
يَسِيرٞ
yasirun
(is) easy
١٩
Do they not see that God brings life into being and reproduces it? Truly this is easy for God
Translation 1260
29:20
قُلۡ
qul
Say
سِيرُواْ
siru
Travel
فِي
fi
in
ٱلۡأَرۡضِ
al-ardi
the earth
فَٱنظُرُواْ
fa-unzuru
and see
كَيۡفَ
kayfa
how
بَدَأَ
bada-a
He originated
ٱلۡخَلۡقَۚ
al-khalqa
the creation
ثُمَّ
thumma
Then
ٱللَّهُ
al-lahu
Allah
يُنشِئُ
yunshi-u
will produce
ٱلنَّشۡأَةَ
al-nashata
the creation
ٱلۡأٓخِرَةَۚ
al-akhirata
the last
إِنَّ
inna
Indeed
ٱللَّهَ
al-laha
Allah
عَلَىٰ
ala
on
كُلِّ
kulli
every
شَيۡءٖ
shayin
thing
قَدِيرٞ
qadirun
(is) All-Powerful
٢٠
Say, ‘Travel throughout the earth and see how He brings life into being: and He will bring the next life into being. God has power over all things
Translation 1260
29:21
يُعَذِّبُ
yu'adhibu
He punishes
مَن
man
whom
يَشَآءُ
yashau
He wills
وَيَرۡحَمُ
wayarhamu
and has mercy
مَن
man
(on) whom
يَشَآءُۖ
yashau
He wills
وَإِلَيۡهِ
wa-ilayhi
and to Him
تُقۡلَبُونَ
tuq'labuna
you will be returned
٢١
He punishes whoever He will and shows mercy to whoever He will. You will all be returned to Him
Translation 1260
29:22
وَمَآ
wama
And not
أَنتُم
antum
you
بِمُعۡجِزِينَ
bimu'jizina
can escape
فِي
fi
in
ٱلۡأَرۡضِ
al-ardi
the earth
وَلَا
wala
and not
فِي
fi
in
ٱلسَّمَآءِۖ
al-samai
the heaven
وَمَا
wama
And not
لَكُم
lakum
for you
مِّن
min
besides
دُونِ
duni
besides
ٱللَّهِ
al-lahi
Allah
مِن
min
any
وَلِيّٖ
waliyyin
protector
وَلَا
wala
and not
نَصِيرٖ
nasirin
a helper
٢٢
You cannot escape Him on earth or in the heavens; you will have no one to protect or help you besides God.’
Translation 1260
29:23
وَٱلَّذِينَ
wa-alladhina
And those who
كَفَرُواْ
kafaru
disbelieve
بِـَٔايَٰتِ
biayati
in (the) Signs
ٱللَّهِ
al-lahi
(of) Allah
وَلِقَآئِهِۦٓ
waliqaihi
and (the) meeting (with) Him
أُوْلَٰٓئِكَ
ulaika
those
يَئِسُواْ
ya-isu
(have) despaired
مِن
min
of
رَّحۡمَتِي
rahmati
My Mercy
وَأُوْلَٰٓئِكَ
wa-ulaika
And those
لَهُمۡ
lahum
for them
عَذَابٌ
adhabun
(is) a punishment
أَلِيمٞ
alimun
painful
٢٣
Those who deny God’s Revelation and their meeting with Him have no hope of receiving My grace: they will have a grievous torment

فَمَا
fama
And not
كَانَ
kana
was
جَوَابَ
jawaba
(the) answer
قَوۡمِهِۦٓ
qawmihi
(of) his people
إِلَّآ
illa
except
أَن
an
that
قَالُواْ
qalu
they said
ٱقۡتُلُوهُ
uq'tuluhu
Kill him
أَوۡ
aw
or
حَرِّقُوهُ
harriquhu
burn him
فَأَنجَىٰهُ
fa-anjahu
But Allah saved him
ٱللَّهُ
al-lahu
But Allah saved him
مِنَ
mina
from
ٱلنَّارِۚ
al-nari
the fire
إِنَّ
inna
Indeed
فِي
fi
in
ذَٰلِكَ
dhalika
that
لَأٓيَٰتٖ
laayatin
surely (are) Signs
لِّقَوۡمٖ
liqawmin
for a people
يُؤۡمِنُونَ
yu'minuna
who believe
٢٤
The only answer Abraham’s people gave was, ‘Kill him or burn him!’ but God saved him from the Fire: there truly are signs in this for people who believe

29:25
وَقَالَ
waqala
And he said
إِنَّمَا
innama
Only
ٱتَّخَذۡتُم
ittakhadhtum
you have taken
مِّن
min
besides
دُونِ
duni
besides
ٱللَّهِ
al-lahi
Allah
أَوۡثَٰنٗا
awthanan
idols
مَّوَدَّةَ
mawaddata
(out of) love
بَيۡنِكُمۡ
baynikum
among you
فِي
fi
in
ٱلۡحَيَوٰةِ
al-hayati
the life
ٱلدُّنۡيَاۖ
al-dun'ya
(of) the world
ثُمَّ
thumma
Then
يَوۡمَ
yawma
(on the) Day
ٱلۡقِيَٰمَةِ
al-qiyamati
(of) the Resurrection
يَكۡفُرُ
yakfuru
you will deny
بَعۡضُكُم
ba'dukum
one another
بِبَعۡضٖ
biba'din
one another
وَيَلۡعَنُ
wayal'anu
and curse
بَعۡضُكُم
ba'dukum
one another
بَعۡضٗا
ba'dan
one another
وَمَأۡوَىٰكُمُ
wamawakumu
and your abode
ٱلنَّارُ
al-naru
(will be) the Fire
وَمَا
wama
and not
لَكُم
lakum
for you
مِّن
min
any
نَّٰصِرِينَ
nasirina
helpers
٢٥
Abraham said to them, ‘You have chosen idols instead of God but your love for them will only last for the present life: on the Day of Resurrection, you will disown and reject one another. Hell will be your home and no one will help you.’
Translation 1260
