غُفْرَانَكَ
Transliteration
Gufraanak
Translation
I ask You (Allah) for forgiveness.
Note
Rasoolullah (ﷺ) said this dua every time he left the toilet. This is what Ayesha (RA) reported.
This short dua brings you back to Allah after using the toilet. It shows you are thankful for feeling better. You stay humble and follow what the Prophet taught us.
Say Ghufranaka (غُفْرَانَكَ). This Arabic word is simple. Say it as soon as you step outside the washroom.
It means: I ask Allah to forgive me. We say this after the toilet to ask for mercy after getting rid of body waste.
Say it right after you step outside. Never say it while you are still inside the toilet or bathroom. Wait until you are past the door.
Use your right foot to leave the toilet. This is part of toilet manners in Islam. Then say the dua after you step out.
We could not remember Allah inside. Also, we thank Allah for safely removing dirty things from our body. That is why we ask for forgiveness.
The Arabic stays the same for all people. In Urdu we call it toilet se nikalne ki dua. The meaning is: Aye Allah main teri maghfirat chahta hoon.
It is best to move your lips and whisper it softly. But if you cannot speak out loud, then thinking it quietly is okay too.
Yes. This dua comes from real Hadith books like Abu Dawud and Tirmidhi. The Prophet said it every time after leaving the toilet.
