اَللَّهُمَّ رَبَّنَا وَلَكَ الْحَمْدُ
Transliteration
Allaahumma Rabbanaa wa lakal-hamd
Translation
O Allah, our Lord and to You be the praise.
The Prophet (ﷺ) taught: When the Imam says, 'Sami'Allahu liman hamidah,' you must say -
اَللَّهُمَّ رَبَّنَا وَلَكَ الْحَمْدُ
Transliteration
Allaahumma Rabbanaa wa lakal-hamd
Translation
O Allah, our Lord and to You be the praise.
Note
If your words match the angels' words, all your past sins are forgiven.
This short praise connects you to the angels during Namaz. Say Rabbana lakal hamd with focus. It cleans your heart and brings big rewards in daily prayer.
It means O Allah our Lord, all praise is Yours. You say this while standing in salah to thank Allah.
Right after you stand up from bowing. Once you are standing straight and have said Sami Allahu, say this dua.
It follows the Prophet's Sunnah. Plus, minor sins get forgiven if your words match the angels.
Yes. When the Imam says sami allahu liman hamidah, you quietly say the ruku ke baad ki dua to yourself.
Yes. A longer form adds hamdan kathiran tayyiban. It brings even more reward in prayer.
Yes. It keeps your mind on the prayer steps and stops your thoughts from wandering.
It is a very strong Sunnah (some say Wajib). If you skip it on purpose, your prayer reward may go down. Always try to say it.
