Common Questions

In salah, when you stand from ruku, say sami allahu liman hamidah. Then you can say rabbana walakal hamd. Some add hamdan kathiran tayyiban mubarakan fih for more praise.

A common one is Allahumma aghfir li wa'rhamni wa'hdini wa'jburni wa'rzuqni wa 'afini. In sujood, this asks Allah to forgive, be kind, guide, give what you need, and keep you safe.

In the Hanafi madhab, say rabbana lakal hamd after standing from ruku. Some scholars discuss if the imam says it out loud, but it is sunnah in prayer after ruku.

Say Allahu akbar as you rise from sujood. Sit on your left leg, keep your right foot upright, put hands on knees - now you are ready for the next part of salah.

The standing after ruku is called qaumah. Qiyam is required in prayer, qaumah is necessary. Jilsah is the short sitting you do between two prostrations.
