رَبَّنَا ظَلَمْنَا أَنفُسَنَا وَإِن لَّمْ تَغْفِرْ لَنَا وَتَرْحَمْنَا لَنَكُونَنَّ مِنَ الْخَاسِرِينَ

Translation

Our Lord, we have wronged ourselves, and if You do not forgive us and have mercy upon us, we will surely be among the losers.

Common Questions

Astaghfirullah is very well-known. The longer form is Astaghfirullāha rabbī wa-atūbu ilayhi. The Prophet Muhammad said Astaghfirullah over 100 times daily. This shows how important it is in Islamic prayers.

Try this dua: Allahumma anta rabbi la ilaha illa anta, khalaqtani wa ana abduka, wa ana ala ahdika wa wa'dika mastata'tu. It helps you tell Allah you are sorry and ask for His mercy with hope.

Say Astaghfirullāhal-`Aẓīm alladhī lā ilāha illā huwal-Ḥayyul-Qayyūm wa atūbu ilaih. This istighfar prayer is powerful. When you say it sincerely, even major sins can be forgiven. It gives Muslims a fresh start.

Say astaghfirullah. It means I ask Allah to forgive me. Feel truly sorry. Decide not to repeat the sin. If you hurt anyone, make it right as best you can.

It shares the words of Adam and Eve: Our Lord, we have wronged ourselves. If You do not forgive us and do not have mercy, we will be among the losers. This verse is a powerful dua for forgiveness.
