اَللَّهُمَّ لَا تُؤَاخِذْنِيْ بِمَا يَقُوْلُوْنَ وَاغْفِرْ لِي مَا لَا يَعْلَمُوْنَ (وَاجْعَلْنِيْ خَيْرًا مِمَّا يَظُنُّوْنَ)
Transliteration
Allaahumma laa tu'aakhidhnee bimaa yaqooloona, waghfir lee maa laa ya'lamoona [waj'alnee khayram-mimmaa yadhunnoon]
Translation
Oh Allah, do not call me to account for what they say and forgive me for what they have no knowledge of [and make me better than they imagine].
"حَدَّثَنَا مَخْلَدُ بْنُ مَالِكٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا مُبَارَكُ بْنُ فَضَالَةَ، عَنْ بَكْرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْمُزَنِيِّ، عَنْ عَدِيِّ بْنِ أَرْطَأَةَ قَالَ: كَانَ الرَّجُلُ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم إِذَا زُكِّيَ قَالَ: اللَّهُمَّ لاَ تُؤَاخِذْنِي بِمَا يَقُولُونَ، وَاغْفِرْ لِي مَا لا يَعْلَمُونَ. '
Translation
Adi ibn Arta' said, ""When one of the Companions of the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, was praised, he said in supplication to Allah), 'Do not take me to task for what they say and forgive me for what they do not know.'"" [Sahih (Albani). Adabul Mufrad: 761]
Surah Yunus dua helps muslims trust Allah. Ask for safety from wrongdoers, seeking His mercy to stay protected from fitna and harm by zalimin.
O Allah, make me better than what they think of me, and forgive me for what they do not know about me, and do not take me to account for what they say about me.
Say Alhamdulillah to thank Allah, or ma-shaa'Allah wa la quwwata illa bi Allah. These words show thanks and remind you every blessing is from Allah.
Abu Bakr asked Allah to forgive what people don't know and not to hold him for their words. He wished to be better than what people thought, staying humble always.
Allahumma-ja'lni khayran mima yadhunoon wa-ghfir li ma la ya'lamoon wa la tu'akhidhni bi ma yaquloon. Ask Allah to forgive your faults and make you better than what people imagine.
Subhaanallaahi, walhamdu lillaahi, wa laa 'ilaaha 'illallaahu, wallaahu 'Akbar. The Prophet loved this prayer and it brings Allah's gifts to those who remember Him.
