Abdullah ibn Umar (RA) narrated: During one meeting, we counted the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) saying this dua a hundred times -
رَبِّ اغْفِرْ لِي وَتُبْ عَلَيَّ إِنَّكَ أَنْتَ التَّوَّابُ الرَّحِيمُ (الْغَفُوْرُ)
Transliteration
Rabbighfirli Watub Alayya Innaka Antat-Tawwabul- rahim [in another narration there is al-Ghaffur instead of al-Rahim]
Translation
Lord, forgive me and repent for me, for you are The Most Merciful The Acceptor of Repentance. In another narration there is \
حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ، عَنْ مَالِكِ بْنِ مِغْوَلٍ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سُوقَةَ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، قَالَ إِنْ كُنَّا لَنَعُدُّ لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم فِي الْمَجْلِسِ الْوَاحِدِ مِائَةَ مَرَّةٍ " رَبِّ اغْفِرْ لِي وَتُبْ عَلَىَّ إِنَّكَ أَنْتَ التَّوَّابُ الرَّحِيمُ " .
Translation
Narrated Abdullah ibn Umar: We counted that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) would say a hundred times during a meeting: "My Lord, forgive me and pardon me; Thou art the Pardoning and forgiving One". [Sahih (Albani). Abu Dawud: 1516]
Say this dua for forgiveness to get Allah's mercy. Your heart becomes soft. Hope and Barakah come with every prayer for forgiveness.
Say Astaghfirullah Al Azeem with a true heart to get forgiveness. Sadness goes away. Hard times are kept away. Money problems get help. Muslims use istighfar and this prayer for forgiveness to stay close to Allah and find peace.
Astaghfirullah or Astaghfirullāha rabbī wa-atūbu ilayhi is a strong prayer for forgiveness, many people say. More than 100 times daily, the Prophet said it. It is a loved sunnah for asking forgiveness from Allah.
Astaghfirullah al-Azeem al-lazi la ilaha illa Huwal-Hayyul-Qayyum wa atubu ilaih. The meaning: I ask forgiveness from Allah, The Mighty, the only one to worship, The Living, The Eternal, and I turn to Him to say sorry.
For forgiveness, say Astaghfirullah al-'Adheem al-ladhi la ilaha illa Huwa al-Hayyul-Qayyum wa atubu ilayh. The meaning is to truly ask Allah for mercy. A soft and honest heart can erase even big sins when you say this.
Namaz-e-Isteghfar is two rakats. Read Surah Hamd, then Surah Qadr. Say Astaghfirullaah 15 times. In ruku and after it, say Astaghfirullaah 10 times each. Muslims use this way to ask Allah for forgiveness and mercy.
