رَبِّ اغْفِرْ لِي وَتُبْ عَلَىَّ إِنَّكَ أَنْتَ التَّوَّابُ الرَّحِيْمُ
Transliteration
Rabbighfirli wa tub `alayya innaka Antat-Tawwabur-Rahim
Translation
O Allah forgive me and accept my repentance, for You are the Accepter of repentance, the Most Merciful.
حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ، عَنْ مَالِكِ بْنِ مِغْوَلٍ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سُوقَةَ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، قَالَ إِنْ كُنَّا لَنَعُدُّ لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم فِي الْمَجْلِسِ الْوَاحِدِ مِائَةَ مَرَّةٍ " رَبِّ اغْفِرْ لِي وَتُبْ عَلَىَّ إِنَّكَ أَنْتَ التَّوَّابُ الرَّحِيمُ " .
Translation
Narrated Abdullah ibn Umar: We counted that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) would say a hundred times during a meeting: "My Lord, forgive me and pardon me; Thou art the Pardoning and forgiving One". [Sahih (Albani). Abu Dawud: 1516]
Say Sayyidul Istighfar. This dua tells Allah you know He is One. You say you made mistakes. You ask Him to forgive you with a humble heart and full trust.
Yes. Allah forgives when you truly repent. Feel sorry for your sin, stop doing it, and promise not to do it again. Quran and Sunnah teach that Allah's mercy comes when you repent with honesty.
Yes. Allah's mercy is bigger than all sins, even zina. Repent with true sadness. Stop the sin. Promise to live right. Then Allah forgives. Repentance and good deeds bring His forgiveness.
Your heart becomes clean. Troubles become lighter. Blessings grow. Faith gets stronger. The Prophet taught this and did it himself.
Surah At-Tawbah talks about repentance and forgiveness. Read it and think about its meaning. It helps Muslims see why turning back to Allah matters.
